Mr. Ford, - a comparative newcomer to . the Medford area,; participated in theater work in Cleveland, Ohio, and is local representative for Brown and Bigelow. "On the Bridge" is billed as an old-fashioned "mellow dray-ma." Miss Marianne Samuelson is cast as the win some heroine, Queenie De- Lorme; Charles Tucker, the manly hero, Horatio Warn right; Thayer Tarvin, cruel, mustache-twirling villain; and Mrs. Tarvin, ' the unhappy Doris Corliss Honored Guest Eagle Point - Mrs. George Clark, Mrs. Jeff Westover, and the Misses Ruth and Jane Westover were co-hostesses recently for a bridal shower honoring Miss Doris Corliss, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs H. R. Corliss of Eagle Point. The shower was held at the home of Mrs. George Clark on Climax road in Eagle Point. Games were played and re freshments were served. New faces to appear before Footlighter audiences are Mrs. John Lusk, Mrs. C L. Pierce, Mrs. Joseph Mur phy and Dr. Lawrence Ware. The play is scheduled for the last two weeks in August. Farewell Party To Honor Couple A farewell party in honor of Dr. and Mrs. A. Erin Merkel will be held Wednes day, July 22, at the Red Cross building from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. All JacKson county resi dents are invited to attend, especially those who have worked wuh Dr. Merkel in county health groups. Arrangements for the event are being made by the board of the Jackson County Tuber culosis and Health association, the sponsoring organization. Dr. Merkel is leaving Au gust 1 to accept a position with the San Diego Health department. He has been county health officer here for the past 21 years. Medford Lodge To Be Visitors In Jacksonville Members of Olive Rebekah lodge will meet briefly at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the IOOF hall, 221 West Sixtht street, before traveling in a group to Jacksonville for the friend ship night of Ruth Rebekah lodge. Transportation will be pro vided. At the last Olive Rebekah meeting visitors included Mrs. Laura Bailey, Flint, Mich., who expressed her enjoyment of the beauty of the Rogue valley and the mountains. Mr. Jean M, Shelley, minister, officiated at the two o'clock afternoon wedding attended by 75 rela tives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond May- field, route 1, and Mr. Lyon's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Rus sell Lyon, Butler, Ind. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a floor length white Chantilly lace over satin gown and her pearl necklace was a gift from the bridegroom. She car ried a bouquet of white car nations and pink rosebuds on a white Bible. Miss Velifta Mayfield was maid of honor for her sister and Mrs. Joseph Tosh was bridesmatrort They wore pink taffeta dresses with white ac cessories and carried bouquets of jink Ester Reed daisies. Joe Tosh served as best man and ushers were Tom Caldwell, Medford, and Del- bert Mayfield. Following the ceremony a reception, was held in the church parlor. Miss LeRea Dennis, .Rogue River, cut and served the wedding cake and Miss Barbara Swanson pre sided at the punch bowl. Miss Gail Hannan, Barstow, Calif., poured the coffee. Miss Doreen Ford, Medford, was in charge of the guest book and Miss Alice Turner was at the gift table. Pink and white gladiolus decorated the church and par lor for the wedding and re ception. The newlywed couple trav eled to the Oregon coast on their wedding trip. The bride Shower Given For Bride-Elect Miss Barbara Cook was honored recently at a bridal shower given by Mrs. Ronald Gandee at her home on East McAndrews road. Decorations included a min iature bride and bridegroom standing under a pink paper umbrella. Pink tulle umbrel las decorated the refreshment tables. The letters of the names of the honored guest and her fi ance led to clues which re vealed the hiding place&of the shower gifts. Knauber (Alta Helen Solomon) was an event of July 3 in Philomath, Ore. They are making their home at 408 East D street, Jackson ville. The Rev. Henry Lack per formed the double - ring serv ice at 9:30 p.m. in the First Church of the Nazerene. Friends and relatives of the couple attended. Mr. and Mrs. .Donald Lacy, Medford, attended the conple. Mrs. Lacy is a niece of the bride. Bouquets of mixed garden flowers decorated the church. The bride wore a. blue cot ton frock with embroidered bodice and white accessories. She carried sweetpeas and rosebuds. Mrs. Lacy chose a gray and white dress for the wedding. The reception held in the church parsonage was given by the Rev. Mr. Lacy and Mrs. Lacy, parents of the best man. Medford Home of Newlyweds Ashland-Mr. and Mrs. John Stephen Morrill are making their home at 333 North Holly street, Medford, following wedding June 14 at the First First Congregational church, Ashland. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mann, 935 Garden way, and the bridegroom is a- son of Mrs. Curtis Morrill, 2165 Highway 99 north, and the late Rev. Mr. Morrill. The Rev. Kenneth Ray mond of First Baptist church, Medford, performed the double-ring rites. About 135 guests attended. Mrs. William S tames, Ashland, aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Donal Ann Brace, Ashland, and Miss Edith Morrill, sister of the bridegroom, were ju nior bridesmaids. .They also lighted candles. Sue Ann Mc Kenzie, Yuba City, Calif., cousin of the bride, was flower girl. William Church was . best man and serving as ushers were Donal Mann, brother of the bride; Dwight Morrill, brother of the bridegroom; and Tom Mann, Eugene, cou sin of the bride. Mr. Mann gave his daughter in mar riage. Organ music was provided by Miss Diane Franklin, Med ford. The bride's gown of hand cut Chantilly lace over satin was trimmed in pale blue vel vet. It was of ballerina length. She carried a nosegay of white carnations and stephanotis. Mr. Mann gave his daughter in marriage. Her matron of honor wore a ballerina-length gown of blue cotton satin with an or gandy overskirt. She carried white carnations and blue del phinium. Blue-White Theme In keeping with the blue and white theme of the wed ding, the bridesmaids wore white flocked nylon trimmed in pale blue and carried white carnation nosegays. The flower girl wore pale blue and carried a basket of white transvaal daisies. The church altar was dec orated with baskets of white gladioli and candelabra hold ing tapers. Blue and white decorations were used in flower and can dle decorations in the social room where the reception was held. . Cake was served by Mrs. P. R. Williamson. Mrs. J. L. Fisher, Mrs. Clifford McLean, and Mrs. Mark McKenzie, the bride's aunt from Yuba City, poured punch. v Mrs. Donal Brace was in charge of the reception and Mrs. Robert Brewer super vised the guest book. The bride's mother wore a pale blue dacron frock with white accessories and the bridegroom's mother wore a two-piece ensemble of blue and gray. The bride wore a white and blue cotton eyelet dress with white accessories for travel ing to the coast following the wedding. Both the bride and her hus band were graduated from Ashland high school end the bridegroom is now employed by Standard Oil company. Couple Honored On Retirement Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Meyers, 27 West 10th street, were honored Tuesday after noon at a party at TouVelle park. . Mr. Myers retired July 15 as depot superintendent of the National Guard at Camp White, where he has worked since start of construction in the Camp White area. For the past 13 years he has been superintendent at, the depot. National Guard employees and their wives gave the fare well party and presented a gift to the Myers. . . G. Campbell, 1395, South Peach street, became the bride of James Lamarr Peart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford L. Peart, 913 South Peach street, in a ceremony June 27 1 in Meeker Memorial chapel ' of First Methodist church. Dr. George G. Roseberry officiated at the double ring service attended by 57 rela tives and friends. Baskets of pink and white gladiolus dec orated the chapel for the two o'clock afternoon event. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white lace over taffeta frock styled on princess lines with flared skirt and fitted bodice. Her fingertip length veil was held by crown of seed pearls and she carried a bouquet of white carnations. Miss Mary Campbell, twin sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore. a pink cotton frock with matching eyelet jacket and carried a bouquet of pink and white gladiolus. Her headdress was of pink net. . .William Gregory served as best man. Ushers were Robert Campbell, nephew of the bride, and Robert Wickman, brother-fti-law of the bride. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the church. Miss Dorothy Ice and Mrs. R. Keith Schulz, sister of the bride, cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. Wick man, sister of the bride, poured the coffee, and Mrs. Stanley Forbes, sister of the bridegroom, presided at the punch bowl. The Misses Ja nice and Carol Cambell, niec es of the bride, were in charge of the guest book and guts. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and at tended Southern Oregon col lege. NOTHING EVER SHOWS Couple Honored On Anniversary , Central Point-Mr. and Mrs. Merril William Harsh were honored at surprise party July 15 in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. The party, held at the home of Mrs. Luther Day, Central Point, was given by past matrons and the 1958 offic ers of Nevita chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Harsh was matron of the chapter that year. - ' When Mr. and Mrs. Harsh arrived at the'Day home, they were bedecked with wedding finery, and a mock ceremony performed. During the eve ning a wedding cake and gifts were presented to the hon ored guest, and refreshments were served.
