NEALON Tabl Rock -The Watkins Malone Realty Co. of Medford report the sale of the J. D. Morrison farm here. The Mor risons started from scratch on this farm, working through the years to make a living and accumulate something for their old age. Mrs. Morrison hated to part with the farm, she said, but owing to health conditions of her husband, who never fully recovered from an auto acci dent several years ago, and is now a patient in the Jackson ville sanitarium, she decided to sell and move to Jackson ville. ' The purchasers of the prop erty are Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Toner, school teachers, who have two sons of high school age. Sam Glass, ex-marine, and overtime farmer, has a patch of corn planted when the oak leaves were bigger than- a "squirrel's ear" that is shoul der high and past the culti vating stage. The Alan Fleischer family returned Saturday from a va cation trip to Portland, where they attended the Centennial exposition and visited rela tives, returning by the coast route and spending some time at Reedsport. Some 30 members of the Bigham clan held their annual get-to-gether and early morn ing Fourth of July breakfast at Union Creek. Dan Matteson left Wednes day for Oakland, Calif., to board a train for Kansas City, Kan., where he will spend some time' visiting with his cousins at the Bishop home, j Those in the community who have cherry trees report that birds have eaten or ruin ed most of this year's crop, The principle offenders are the robins. The "little cattle" the man from Texas saw in our neigh bor's pasture were Fred Smith's big red brood sows. Our Texas friend at Beagle should take notice. The new bridge being put in over Snyder creek will have a deck 4V& feet higher than the old bridge, making a high fill at each end. The work is being supervised by Wesley Hartman who has been building bridges for Jackson county, for more than 40 years. Among recent visitors at the local Sunday school were Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Randall of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Ma plesdon and Mrs. Venson Hunt and children of Meadows. The last Grange meeting at Sams Valley was attended by moire than 100 Grangers, many from other Granges in the valley. We noticed that manly beautiful beards had fallen victims to Delila's scis sors. No prizes were won on beards, but Herb Carlton got honorable mention on his well-groomed Vandyke. The lecturer's program was up to its usual standard and his report on the State Grange convention, which he attend ed, was particularly interest ing. According to the Grange Bulletin, Victor Croxton, the Sams Valley lecturer, has been appointed state Grange lecturer. Norman Matteson, the fly ing pill dispenser, reports get ting his private pilot's li cense, and also being elected secretary - treasurer of the Medford branch of the Oregon Pilots' association. The Arlis Hendersons have returned and are now living again the small cottage on the Ray Baker farm. Mrs. Baker reports that all is quiet and peaceful at their home after 15 months of remodeling, and listening to saws, hammers, jackhammers, cement mixers and the usual noisy tools con nected with this kind of work. The next task, according to Mrs. Baker, will be landscap ing and Dick Fawcett, hus band of the former Betty Lou Baker,, will plan and help with this work. ' The Misses Barbara Wheel er and Anita Pierce, of the local Sunday school are at tending Bible camp at Fir Point - i ' -. . The Bud Robinson family spent the Fourth of July holi day in the Bay area and other California points. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nelson and two children, Winston, Ore., are visitors this week with Mr. Nelson's parents at the Guy Nelson farm. Mrs. Doug Robinson and children left Thursday ' for their home in Vallejo after a three weeks visit with rela tives here and in Medford Also going south was Elgin Robinson who returned to Camp Pendleton after a three weeks' furlough spent here with home folks. Mrs. . Frank Myers was among those attending com mencement exercises at Ore gon State college, where her niece, Miss Berniece Bigham, graduated in physical education. Mrs. Mary Howsley is offer ing her Home and five acre tract of irrigated land on Pumice lane for sale as she finds it too much work for her to keep it up. . ' The RNA Central Point camp held their annual picnic at the home of Mrs. J. S. Rich ardson Tuesday of this week.
