Recordially Yours by Norman Weber s - Edie Adams Tops in the Record Shops: The Summer season gets off to a flying start with some really fine packages awaiting your listening pleasure. In cluded are "Show Boat" with Gogi Grant, Howard Keel, and Anne Jeffreys on RCA; a swinging jazz package, "Gilbert and Sullivan Revisited" via Warner Brothers; "Film Encores, Vol. ' 2" by Mantovani on London; Ralph Marterie's "Love Themes from the Classics" on Mercury; Dot's "Steve Allen Plays"; Decca's "Porgy and Bess" starring Sammy Davis, Jr., and Carmen McRae, and another real winner from Frank Sinatra, "Look to Your Heart," a Capitol release. Music for Family Listening: If you like your music straight, without lyric support, here are some fine mood LPs for your consideration: "Soft Lights and Sweet Music" by the late Victor Young, via Decca; "Melachrino on Broadway" from RCA, and, for the budget-wise buyer, a limited edition of "Mantovani Showcase" at $1.98 from London. On a vocal bent, try Capitol's "Crazy He Calls Me" by Dakota Stat on; "All About Love," a very fine shellac by Steve Lawrence cut for Coral; "Memo rable Moments from Broadway Musi cals" a Decca biscuit by Fred Waring and company; "Edie Adams Sings" on MGM; "The Dick Powell Song Book" via Decca; and Vol. 2 of "And the Banjos Sing Your Requests," a real package of family fun on the Golden Crest label. Teen-Time Toe-Tappers : For the jeans set, "Lonely Teardrops" by Jackie Wilson on Brunswick; MGM's "Conway Twitty Sings," and two Coral etchings, "Hitsville" with a wide range of teen favorites and "The Buddy Holly Story" are all sure clicks. For the record-hop set, try "Swingin' Down the Lane" by Richard Maltby's orchestra on Columbia; "Cugat in Spain" on RCA; Camden's "Everybody Cha Cha" with an instruction booklet included with the package; Coral's "A one a-Two" by Lawrence Welk, and, for a real dreamy session, dig "Blue Hawaii" by Billy Vaughn on Dot. Special Merit: "Shaggy Dog" sound track from Disneyland; "77 Sun set Strip," featuring tunes from the TV show by Warner Brothers; Hill Bo wen's version of the "Redhead" score on Camden; and "Overtures Francaise" played by the Detroit Symphony via Mercury are all excellent recordings for family listening. New Sound, New Beat: Capitol has made the big plunge into stereo, and among their top releases are "The Stage Door Swings" by Stan Kenton; "Red Nichols at Marineland"; swing ing impressions of "Porgy and Bess" by Hank Jones; "The Les Brown Story," and "This Could Be the Start of Some thing" by Mark Murphy. The sound track of "Imitation of Life" and Reg Owen's "Under Paris Skies" are Decca entries of the month, while Rondo's "The Classics in Dance Tempo" by Kurt Maier makes for in teresting listening via the stereo tech nique. "Flamenco Espana" by Bemabe de Moron; "Steel Drums" and "Viva" by the Caballeros are High Fidelity contributions.
