Visitors Return To Indiana Home Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rob inson of La Porte, Ind., vis ited here last week with Dr. and Mrs. Jouett Bray, Lozier lane. Mrs. Robinson is the former Nancy Bray of Med ford. The Robinsons ' arrived Monday and left Thursday for La Porte where they have a new home. Mr. Robinson has recently been promoted to manager of a paper mill in La Porte. The Robinsons previously lived in Water- bury, Conn. . Dr. Bray took his son-in- law, who had never been to Oregon before, fishing on the Rogue river and they both caught some big trout. Dr. Bray's son, Andrew Lee Bray of Tacoma, Wash., visited here last week end with his wife and three daughters. They arrived on Friday. Power .Now 29' 2Q44 57 50 transportation charge. CALL SP 3-6641 A Eskew-Hazelhurst Rites Held in Portland Church Gold Hill-A wedding of in terest to friends in the Rogue Valley was held recently in Portland, when Miss Phyllis Anne Hazelhurst became the bride of Gerald K. Eskew, member of a well known Gold Hill family. The ceremony was held Sunday, June 14, at First Christian church in Portland at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Fred Brown, pastor of the church officiated at the double-ring ceremony, at tended by 150 guests. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen C. Hazelhurst, Portland, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy N. Eskey, Route 1, box 545, Gold Hill. The church was decorated with white gladiolus and white chrysanthemums and white candelabra held lighted white tapers. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white Chantilly lace, net and tulle. Pearls trimmed the neckline of her dress. Her fingertip veil was held by a petal cap of lace and seed pearls, and the pearl ear rings, she wore were a gift from the bridegroom. The bridal bouquet was white rosebuds and white gladiolus with stephanotis. Sister Attends Matron of honor was Mrs. W. D. Heigh, sister of the bride from Steamboat, Ore. Her dress was white eyelet embroidered organza over pale green taffeta, and she carried white gladiolus and white roses. - Mrs. James Walp, Portland, was bride's matron. Brides maids were Miss Deanna Bry ant, cousin of the bride, Eu gene, and Miss Sally Ostrari- der, Portland. The attendents dresses were styled similar to' that worn by the matron of honor, of white organza over pink, yellow and orchid. They carried bouquets of white gladiolus and roses and wore matching head bands. Candle lighters were Miss Charlanna ' Brown, Portland, and Miss Linda Preston, New port Beach, Calif. Their dresses were white organza with pastel floral borders at the lower skirt edge, and they wore matching head bands. Charles Bray, Medford, served as best man. Ushers were Robert Bray and Paul Elgin, both Medford, and Iob Sheldon, Portland. Baritone Sings Soloist was David O. John son, baritone, Portland. Miss Lorie Pratt, Portland, played the organ, and violinist was Miss Wanda Eastwood. Eu gene. A reception was given in Fellowship room of the church. Amigas members of Christian Woman's Fellow ship, a group of the church of which the bride's mother is a member, were in charge of the reception. The bride's table was decor ated with tall pink tapers in silver holders. Mrs. Paul Kloster, Eugene, cousin of the bride, cut and served the cake, assisted by Mrs. Loren V. Bryant, another cousin of the bride from Eugene. Mrs. W. H.NHeigh, Portland, poured coffee, ' assisted by Mrs. T. W. Black, Portland, cousin of the bride. Presiding at the punch bowl were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bryant. Springfield, uncle and aunt of the bride. Mrs. Charles Vorce Jr., Spring field, cousin of the bride, took charge of the guest book. Among the guests at the event was Mrs. Edward Bry ant, grandmother of the bride, Portland. The bride's mother wore a gold crepe sheath gown with gold satin cummerbund, and white accessories. The bride groom's mother selected a beige lace sheath, with ice blue accessories. Their cor sages were talisman roses. Others attending the event from southern Oregon, be sides the bridegroom's par ents, were their daughter, Miss Donna Eskew, and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ness and son, Medford, and former Medford residents, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Bray, who now re side in Pendleton. Attending from Coos Bay were the bridegroom's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Du ane Eskew and son, Steven, formerly of Gold Hill. The newlyweds are making their home in Albuquerque, N. M. En route south they were guests in the home of Mr. Eskew's parents in Gold Hill. For traveling the bride wore a white linen sheath, with white duster and acces sories. Her corsage was pink carnations and small yellow rosebuds. The bride is a graduate of Grant High school, Portland, and attended Oregon State college in Corvallis. Prior to her marriage she t was em ployed in Eugene by Consoli dated Freights as secretary-bookkeeper, The bridegroom was a mem ber of .the last class to gradu ate from the old Gold Hill high school here. He served four years in the United States Navy, being stationed two years of that time at the Naval base at Tongue Point, Astoria. He was graduated from Oregon State college, last month. An engineer, he has accepted a position with Dale Bellamah Enterprises, housing, construction in Albu querque. The bridegroom was form erly employee of Trowbridge and Flynn Electric Company in Medford. Elder-Da rrohn Wedding Rites Held in Church Shady Cove - Miss Doris Mae Darrohn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Darrohn, be came the bride of Elden Leon Elder, son of Mrs. and Mrs Gilbert Elder, at a ceremony June 6 in the Sams Valley Gospel church. ' One hundred guests attend ed the double-ring ceremony solemnized by the Rev. Gor don R. Peterson at 11 o'clock in the morning. Miss Jackie Hume, Trail, was maid of honor and James P. Vanderlip, Jr., cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Jack Dar rohn, the bride's brother, and Dale Casey. Mr. Darrohn gave his daugh ter in marriage. She wore a ballerina-length lace gown with finger-tip veil and car ried pink and white carna tions with a white Bible. Miss Hume wore a pink and white cotton dress and a pink rosebud corsage. Garden flowers decorated the church. Mrs. Delbert Spain played wedding music and Mrs.'D. G. MacDougall sang, accompanied by Mrs. Allan Whitehead, aunt of the bride groom. ' Assisting at the reception which followed were Miss Linda Eccleston, Miss Willia B. Poitevint and Miss Delber ta Spain. Miss Joey Hume at tended the bride's book. The bride attended Eagle Point high school. Her hus band, who was graduated from Eagle Point high school, is employed with the Elder Logging company. They are residing at Trail following a wedding trip. Sorority Honors Guest Members To honor visiting members of Delta Kappa Gamma who arc teaching or studying at Southern Oregon college dur ing the summer session, about 40 members of Epsuon chap ter met at the College Com' mons, Wednesday, July 1, for a six o'clock dinner. Misses Florence Allen and Gladys Owen, both of the col lege faculty, made the ar rangements. They were assist ed by Miss Anna Laura Hocts, local president. The guests were Miss Vera Larson, Phi chapter, Portland; Miss' Eliza Nelson, Mu chap ter, Lakeview; Dr. Margaret McDevitt, art consultant for the Salem public schools, Al pha Epsilon chapter, Salem; Mrs. Florence Ferebee, school supervisor of Crook county, Sigma chapter, Prineville; Mrs. Frances Koertji, Alpha chapter, Klamath Falls; and Miss Ora Cox. formerly of Epsilon but now of Theta chapter, Bushnell, 111. Master Point Play Announced The July master point tour nament of Medford Duplicate bridge club will be held Wed nesday at Girls Community club. In regular play June 30 north-south winners were Rob ert Dickey and H. W. Porter, Downey, Calif., first, 151 Vz points; Roy Pruitt and How ard Boyd, second, 132; Mrs. Paul Hatton and Mrs. Frank Baker, third, 124 Vi. - Tying for fourth were Mrs. Richard Milestone and Mrs. C. DeJarnette, Dalles; Mrs. John Dougherty and Paul Hatton; and Mrs. Fred Burich and Mrs. A. W. Lingaas all with 120. Couple Returns Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Lynch, 615 West . Jackson street, recently returned home after a motor vacation trip. Mr, and Mrs. Lynch trav eled up they coast, to Astoria and Portland, spending four day in the latter city to attend Centennial events. They made the loop trip around Mt. Hood, and visited Timberline lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Daughters Hold Family Breakfast First social event spon sored by the newly-organized Catholic Daughters of Amer ica court was even more suc cessful than , anticipated, ac cording to the report of Mrs. Gordon Boner, chairman. The event was a family commu nion breakfast. Held Sunday morning in the annex of St. Mary's school the breakfast was preceded by attendance at mass in Sa cred Heart church and recep tion of communion corporate- ly by Catholic Daughters and members of their families. No further social events are planned before regular meet ings of the women's organiza tion are resumed in the fall. During the summer all mem bers are asked to assist on the various "Centennial Fiesta" committees. Richardson, Marion, S.C., became the bride of Bruce L. Hoy, Ash land, at a double-ring cere mony read June 19 by the Rev. James Sinclair in the First Church' of Christ. Pink gladioli and white stephanotis decorated the al tar. The Rev. Sinclair sang for the wedding, accompanied by Mrs. Sinclair. The bride wore a waltz length gown of white nylon and lace and a tiara of seed pearls. A cross of white gar denias surrounded by pink carnations composed the bri dal bouquet. Attendants were the bride groom's twin sisters, Mrs. Harold Laws and Miss Bev erly Hoy, Thompson Falls, Mont., who. wore frocks of chiffon over net. Mrs. Laws' was of yellow and Miss Hoy's was blue. They carried bou quets of white and pink car nations. Jack Hillberry was best man. For the couple's wedding trip to the coast, Mrs. Hoy wore a pink linen suit and a corsage of pink rosebuds and white carnations. Her acces sories were white. On their return to Ashland they will make their home1 at 1662 Holmes avenue. , Both young people recently completed army duties, hav ing served on Okinawa with the army signal corps. Mr. Hoy, a member of the Ash land police force, is a son of Mrs. W. K. Livingston, 1617 Parker street, and Melvin W. Hoy, Thompson Falls, Mont., who was in Ashland for the wedding. Student Enters Nursing School Miss Jacqualine Garrett is now a student at St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Portland. Miss Garrett, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Instead of the usual time and place, a pot luck picnic will be held Fri day, July 10, at 6 p.m. in Tou Velle State park. Bailey gave reports of the annual meeting of District 3, Daugh ters of tne American Revolu tion, held in Roseburg on June 17, at the annual Dicnic of the Crater Lake chapter.
