Want lo Know An excellent book for wom en with medical problems has recently been written by Dr. Harold M. Imerman and T. Blanchard Dewey (Crown Publishers). In this book, an able gyne cologist tells in simple, non- t e chnical speech about a woman's womb, . ovar ies and tubes 1 and what DrTAlvares may go wrong with these organs.. He tells about child-bearing and the menopause, and the sexual changes that come to a wom an with age. When the Psychoanalyst Falls Asleep Recently I found a delight ful abstract from a book by two psychoanalysts, who ser- ously discuss the technic to be used by a psychoanalyst when he gets caught sound asleep behind the couch, and has to wriggle out of this jam. Naturally, he has to convince the patient that he did it on purpose, and in order the bet ter to treat the neurosis. I quote from the article: "It should not be necessary to clarify the fact that the ther apist isn't being bored. Sleep does not signify either a posi tive or a negative relation ship, but has certain specific dynamics. Sleep on the part of the therapist may serve as a retreat from the relationship, and an escape from his own anxiety. It may be a retreat from aggressive impulses or a yielding to sexual fantasies. A mature therapist will rapid ly get past this phase and arrive at a point where going to sleep has a specific func tion, and serves the therapeu tic relationship. Then sleep Senate Voies Cut In Foreign Aid Washington-flJPD-The Senate voted Thursday to cut $250 million dollars from its for eign aid bill. This brought it more in line with President Eisenhower's program. It then defeated a move which would have ended all economic aid in three more years. The actions came in rapid order as the Senate began vot ing on a long list of amend ments to a bill to provide $3,850,000,000 i n military, economic and technical aid for the free world.
