Wednesday, June 24, 19)9 1 Grange News Central Point Orange During the regular, session of Central Point Grange on June 24, the charter was drap ed in memory of Robert- War ren, who died recently in the East. Plans were announced by the HEC chairman, Mrs. Charles Jantzer to , have a Grange picnic some Sunday afternoon in July, the date to be set soon. The Grange voted to cancel the . next regular meeting which falls on Friday, July 3. Members are reminded- to turn in sales slips to Mrs. Cecil Keenan by July 1. - The three Graces,. Mrs. Wil liam Straus, Mrs. Otto Nied eremeyer, Mrs. Charles More house, and Chaplain Mrs. Chester Wendt presented the following program at the lec turer's hour. A tableau "Chris tain Education in the Home," with Mrs." Morris Frink, Judy and Johnnie portraying - a home scene of mother read ing the Bible and praying with the children. Mrs. Otto Niedermeyer and Mrs. Fred Kuest sang a duet "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" during the tableau. They were accompanied by Mrs. Gaston Flou A TV quiz was conduct: ed by the chaplain. Two dance numbers were presented by three pupils of the . Colleen Hope studio, Miss Louise Lull, Miss Jeanene Tracy, and Bob by Neil. An original poem, "A Boutineire to Father," was read by Mrs.' Niedermeyer. The concluding number was a hat parade by several of the men. The display table in charge of Mrs. Edwin Gebhard, was an exhibit of roses grown by . various members. The name of Mrs. Lottie VanScoy was inadvertently omitted from the list of "Old Timers" honored on the pro gram of Central Point Grange on the night of June 5. The next regular meeting of the Grange will be on July 17 .Klamath Accountant Wins Beard Contest Fred Lawson, Klamath Falls public accountant, was crowned winner of the ac countants centennial beard contest by' Karen Simcox, queen of the 24th annual Cat fish Derby Saturday night at the closing banquet of the .Oregon Association of Public Accountants here. ' , Queen Karen presented him with a plaque, inscribed with 0 picture of a flowing beard. Lawson was further hon ored by being elected gover nor of district 3 of the OAPA. Karen reigned with her eourt over the Catfish Derby at TouVelle, State park Sun day. Swimming Pool Fence Law Passed Eugene OJPD An ordinance aimed at saving small child ren from drowning in private swimming pools has been passed by the Eugene city council. The ordinance requires a fence at least 40 inches in height with a self-locking gate ground all private swimming pools. It also requires a screen or fence to protqpt fisn ponds and other decorative pools. A woman council member Mrs. Catherine Lauris re introduced the measure in the wake of the drowning of a 2V2-year-old girl June 13. A similar measure was de feated last year with some residents claiming it invaded their private property rights, A hurricane is called a "ty- phone" in the China sea a "baguio" in the Philippines and a "cyclone" in the Bay of Bengal.
