In a resolution the Board said that it would consider halting the project unless tSb Game Commission could pro vide adequate control of the deer population in the area. Ray tCell of Portland, a Board member, said deer were browsing on young trees and seedlings where reforestation operations were under way, causing heavy damage. To Visit Area - . The Board decided to visit the Tillamook Burn .soon and invite Game Commission members to go along. In other action, the Board gave State Forester Dwight Phipps a go-ahead l to enter into agreement with Clatsop county for use of a section of state land on (the Nehalem river for multiple purposes. Phipps said development of small parks and recreation areas woufel keep people out of danger in forest areas. sFuty-five smal fires in timbered areas of Oregon up to June 1 of giis year involved 284 acres, Phipps said. He said fire fitting plans for the conting season were just about completed and better trained crews were ready.
