Sometimes the pa tient can remember that the burning followed a curious spell in which she was so dizzy that she nearly blacked out, and some people have told me that the burning fol lowed a definite stroke. My impression then is that in these cases the disease is not in the tongue, but up in the brain. It appears to be due to the destruction of a tiny area in the brain by a little stroke which produced, per haps a woozy spell. I know of no treatment worth carry ing out. In some cases the burning eventually goes away. Pagtfi Disease of the Bones I get an number of ques tions as to Paget's disease of the bone.. Seeing that there doesn't seem to be any good treatment for it, and seeing that often it advances very slowly if at all, my im pression is that most of the patients need not get excited about it. Vitamin E Many people write wanting to know whether they should take Vitamin E for heart di sease or something or other. All I can say is that a while ago someone sent me a good sized book, summing up all the researches ever made on Vitamin E, and the conclusion at the end was . that, so far as the authors jof the book then knew, this drug was of no definite value in1 the "cur ing of any disease of man. I know that some of my doctor friends have tried it, out ex tensively to see if it would help, some diseases which it was supposed to help, but in their hands it produced, no effects. Glomus Tumor Some few persons want to know what is a glomus tumor. It is usually a little tumor made up largely of blood ves sels. It can appear in any one of a number of parts of the body. If it gives enough trouble, it can be removed surgically. The basic cause is probably a slight 'congenital abnormality.
