Costs of Removing Litter Are Reduced Salem - Junior Eckley, lit terbug chairman for the state division of the Izaak Walton League of America, has re ported that the cost of remov ing litter from state highways and parks has been reduced to almost a third of what it was five years ago. Eckley noted that $52,500 was spent last year in picking up trash along highways and in state parks, compared to $64,748 in 1957, and $142,- 000 in 1954. Part of the reduction was credited to trash barrels along highways, and part to support by garden clubs and other civic groups to anti-litter campaigns.
