Freeways Los Angeles - (UPD - Charles K. Abboud, 58. a motorist from Omaha, Neb., was lost for seven hours in the laby rinth of the freeway system, he told police Wednesday. Abboud showed up at po lice headquarters before dawn to ask for directions. He said he had been trailing the car of his son, Ray, 31, on the San Bernardino Free way but lost it on a turnoff. Then, said Abboud, a mail man on vacation, he drove back and forth on the free ways, going from one to another, finally finding his way to the police station. Police located the son who came to police headquarters and drove his father to the home of the son's mother-in-law where they were headed in the first place. The elder Abboud com plained, "Those drivers on the freeway are maniacs. I never encountered anything like it. They never slowed up behind me ... I just had to keep going . . . They were unmerciful." SEE BETTER. TALK LESS Washington-(UPD-Irish writ er Padraic Colum said Mon day the electric light has dimmed the fine glow of Irish conversation. "In the old days, a family and its friends would gather around the peat fire for both light and warmth and there wasn't anything to do but talk, so they became famed for their conversation al ability," he said. 4-H Club News Shady Cove Cut Ups The Shady Cove Cut Ups meet at the home of Miss Ann Akins April 13. We learned how to sew on buttons. Our leaders were Mrs. J. Smith and Mrs. G. W. Weit-man. Our next meeting is April 27. We meet at the home of Miss Judy Waltz. Edith Ann Lowery, Reporter Love Pine Merry Maids The Lone Pine Merry Maids in third year cooking, and Child Care, met in the home of their leader, Mrs. Millie Edwards, Saturday, April 11. There were seven members present. A demonstration on quick cinnamon rolls, was given by Patti and Beverly Jones. The next meeting will be April 25. Patti Jones, Reporter. 4-H Truth Seekers Rena Brew gave the first demonstration at our meeting Thursday, April 2. The main topic was how to balance dinner with a dessert. We figured ways to make fancy and attractive desserts. Gary and June Brew each gave a demonstration on how to make a fancy sundae. Aft erward they took their turn at cleaning up the kitchen. June Brew is chairman for the committee on a Japanese dinner we are giving for 4-H parents and friends. We dis cussed the dinner and talked about what we could get to use for Japanese designs. Antelope 4-H Livestock Club It was decided at the April 3 meeting of the Antelope 4-H Livestock club to set a meet ing date with the Eagle Point and Reese Creek clubs to dis cuss the combination of the three clubs for a pre-fair. SheeD nd swine members were reminded to get their animals soon. Jo Anna Malloroy and Fred Jossy gave reports on the Cow Palace which they at tended from March 19 to 27. The next meeting will be the annual tour of each mem: ber's project on May 23. Karen Jossy, Reporter. Teena Paige Sewing Club The Central Point Teena Paige Sewing Club met at the home of Mrs. Chester Ashton, Monday, April 6 at 7 p.m. Miss Mary Pat Lucy from the home economics division was guest, and gave a demon stration on the correct way to work on wool, followed by a question and answer period. Preparations were made for the next meeting at which a Mother's Day Tea will be giv en. A program was drawn up which consisted of entertain ment, and the making of a gift by each member to be given to her mother. A demonstration was given on the correct making of sleeves by Julie Ashton and Sharon Tompson. Meeting was ajourned by .President Nancy McKay and refreshments were served by Patti Straus.
