Among those attending will be queens of the local bethels as well as two delegates chos en ior the grand bethel draw ing. Miss Lynda Knips, honored queen of Bethel 55, will head the delegation from that beth el which will include Mrs. Harold Gordon, guardian; L. H. Manning, acting associate guardian; Miss Jane Ward, grand bethel representative to Utah; and delegates, Miss Marcia Barrell and Miss San dy Sanner. Attending from Bethel 14, will be Miss Sylvia Morris, queen, Mrs. C. D. Elhart, Guardian; Morris Boughner, associate guardian; Miss Ma vis Storm, grand bethel rep resentative to Ontario, Can ada; and delegates, Miss Mickey Noble and Miss Diana Evernham. ML I V'l 9 ; i n u(i I Presbyterian Rites IV ed Couple in San Francisco Of interest here is news of the wedding of Miss -Phyllis Lea Watkins to Jimmy Frank lin Stokes, the ceremony hav ing taken place March 20 in St. John's Presbyterian church, San Francisco. The bride is a daughter of Mr. acd Mrs. Floyd P. Watkins, 701 West Jackson street, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Stokes, Thom asville, Ga. The double - ring ceremony was read at 8 o'clock in the evening by the Rev. Lloyd Carrick. Seventy - five guests attended. Mr. and Mrs. Stokes are living at 677 Seventh avenue in San Francisco. The bride is a senior nurse at French Hos pital School of Nursing and the bridegroom is in the Unit ed States postal service. For the wedding the bride wore an Angelo gown of hand sheared Chantilly lace made with Sabrina neckline, basque waist and very full skirt of tiered lace. Her elbow-length nylon veil was held by a hand beaded cap designed and made by the bride's mother. The bride carried a single white orchid on a white satin nurse's Bible with stephanotis stream ers. Her pearls were the bride groom's gift. Mrs. James O'Donel (Eva-. lyn Watkins) of Yerba Buena island, San Francisco, was matron-of-honor, and Miss Eleanor Liebbrand, Denver, Colo., childhood chum and roommate at French hospital, Alberta Ann Puhl (Kennell-Ellis photo) Late Summer Rites Planned Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Puhl, 4279 Table Rock road, Medford, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Alberta Ann, to Robert Fred Fry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Fry, 3820 Grant road, Cen tral Point. Both are Medford High school graduates. The bride elect is also a graduate of Good Samaritan Hospital of Nursing, Portland. She at tended Oregon State college and is currently completing work at the University of Oregon Medical school in nursing education. Mr. Fry attended Southern Oregon college and is a grad uate of the University of Ore gon. He is a junior dental stu dent at the University of Ore gon Dental school, Portland, and is a member of Delta Sig ma Delta, dental social frater nity. A late summer vedding is planned. National Officer To Visit Medford Mrs. Henry Lathrop, St. Al bans, W. Va., vice-president in charge of Alumni of Sigma Kappa fraternity, will visit here this week. She will greet members living in this area at a meeting set for Thursday, April 9, at the home of Mrs. Paul McDuffee, 2000 Hillcrest road at 8 pjn. Chairman Named For Lady Elks Lady Elks will meet Tues day, April 7, at 12:30 p.m. for an afternoon of cards at the Medford Elks club party lounge. A complete luncheon will be served. Mrs. Alva E. Perkins, new chairman of the group, will be introduced during the event. She succeeds Mrs. E. G. Randolph, chairman for the past season. ' Wives and widows of all Elk members are invited to attend. . They wore ice blue brocaded satin sheaths with nylon cummer bunds and pouff bows and floating back panels. Their picture hats and mitts match ed their gowns and they car ried cascades of white carna tions. The earrings they wore were the bride's gifts. , Sharon and Kathleen O' Donel, small nieces of the bride, were candle bearers. They wore blue nylon dresses and picture hats and carried white tapers with white car nations and blue ribbons. Lt. James H. O'Donel was best man for the bridegroom and Donald Elgin and Paul Gfeller seated the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Watkins gave their daughter in marriage. . Urns of white stock, white and blush carnations were ar ranged with tall candelabra to decorate the church. The reception was held in the church. Mrs. Donald El gin, Miss. Linda Hart, Miss Nancy McNamara and Miss Suzette Negri, all classmates of the bride, assisted at the re ception. The bride's mother wore a dress of rose nylon and lace with flowered hat and pink accessories. Her corsage was a white orchid and her pearl earrings were a gift from the bridegroom. The bridegroom's parents were unable to attend the wedding, and Mrs. E. H. Judd, aunt of the bride from Portola Valley, Calif., substi tuted for the bridegroom's mother. Among the wedding guests were Mrs. Chester L. Bourne, the bride's uncle and aunt, and Richard Bourne, Med ford; Mrs. J. W. Watkins, grandmother of the bride, Phoenix, Ore.; Miss Judy Johnson, Ashland. The newlyweds made a wedding trip to Reno, Nev., and Lake Tahoe, the bride wearing for traveling a spring suit of raw silk with matching accessories and olive green coat. Her corsage was the orchid from her bridal bou quet. The bride lived all her life in Medford before going to San Francisco to enter school; she is a graduate of Medford High school and at tended Southern Oregon col lege. Mr. Stokes served five years with the United States Signal corps. A number of parties pre ceded the wedding. The bride was honored February 14 at a party given by Mrs. Joseph Beach and Mrs. William French at the former's home in Medford and March 5 Miss Liebbrand was hostess for a shower at the O'Donel home. Guests were student nurses of French and San Francisco General hospitals. March 13 Mrs. Walter Wilson, Medford, was hostess for an absentee shower for the bride - elect. March 18 Lt. and Mrs. O'Don el entertained at a family din ner. - Guest Day Announced Medford Sojourners will en tertain guests at a dessert luncheon and fashion show Thursday, April 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Girls Community club. New spring fashions will be modeled as well as hats, shoes and other accessories. Hair styles will be shown. Bridge, pinochle and canasta will be played after the show. Mrs. Clay M. Lee is general chairman for the event. Her Committee includes Mrs. W, O. Hughes, Mrs. Clyde Knight, Mrs. John Mansfield, Mrs. I. W. Housechild, Mrs. Calvin Smith, Mrs. Iran Nicholson, Mrs. Alexander Collins and Mrs. Harve Endersby. All prospective and inac tive members are invited to attend. A prospective member is any woman who. has lived in Medford and vicinity less than two years. They were married March 19 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in Lo gan, Utah, with the temple president, George Raymond, uncle of the bride, officiat ing. Mrs. Condie is the former Miss Mary Margaret Wasden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks F. Wasden, 1740 Or chard Home court. Mr. Condie is a son of Mr. and Mrs. An gus Condie, Preston, Idaho. For her wedding and recep tion the bride wore a white embroidered sheer nylon gown over taffeta. Her flow ers were carnations and pink rosebuds. Miss Sharon Wilde, Trail, was maid of honor while Douglas "" Wasden, brother of the bride, served as best man. Mr. and Mrs. Wasden trav eled to Logan for the cere mony. For the reception pink snap dragons and white stock dec orated the rooms. The bride was formerly em ployed as a secretary at the American Finance company here. Robbins, route 1, box 479, was honored March 24 at a bridal shower at the home of Mrs. H. S. Deuel Jr., Del Rio orchards. Hostesses for the event were Mrs. Deuel and Mrs. Neil Robbins. Miss Robbins is the bride elect of Noel Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Moore, 106 Crater Lake avenue, Med ford. An umbrella and streamers in green and white decorated the shower table for the gifts. Miss Robbins was assisted at the gift table by Miss Shar on Blackford and Mrs. Rob bins. Four hundred wom en attended the traditional party. Decorations were keyed to Oregon's Centennial year, and the color theme was lavender and white. Each table was centered with a bouquet of wild flowers in milk glass gob lets, and a miniature surrey with fringe on top and paper lace wheels stood on the piano in the main dining room. It was filled with purple heath er. In the reception hall of the clubhouse an old-fashioned scene had been arranged. Bar bara Ann Hochstatter, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hochstatter, dressed . in old fashioned clothing, was seat ed in an antique rocking chair. Nearby stood an old table China tea set and nosegay of purple flowers. Mrs. Vincent P. Nicoletti and Mrs. James J. Dunlevy were co-chairmen in charge of arrangements, and Mrs. Ronald R. Caperna and Mrs. Robert S. Ashenberner super vised decorations. Mrs. Nico letti welcomed the guests. Reception hostesses were in old-fashioned attire. They were Mrs. Donald C. Jackson, chairman, and Mrs. R. A. Naumes, Mrs. Paul W. Havi land, Mrs. Jack Rentz, Mrs. Elbert C. Williams, Mrs. Thomas L. Miss Mildred Gail, senior at the University of Washing ton, Seattle, is majoring in the Russian language and has been granted a Rotary club scholarship to study in France next fall. Two Hostesses Fete Miss Smith Miss Janeth Ann Smith, whose wedding to Stephen Fdward Foster of Woodland, Calif., is set for May, was honored at two parties last week. Thursday evening Mrs. C. M. Lizberg gave a shower for Miss Smith at the Lizberg home, 2117 Dellwood avenue. The refreshments table was decorated in pink and white, with candles and white camel lias, and white doves hang ing from the chandelier. Guests were members of the staff at Burelson's store, where the bride-elect is em ployed, and Miss Smith's mother, Mrs. Niles Smith, bout 20 were present. Mrs. Frank Morgan was hostess for a shower Thurs day evening at her home on South Holly street which hon ored Miss Smith. Decorations were in yellow and white, the hostess using yellow daisies combined with ivy.
