Selection of Mrs. Eden for the annual award was announced at a banquet held Thursday night at the Medford hotel. Mrs. Eden, who has engaged in a wide range of civic work, was specifically cited for her work with youth, including Boy and Girl Scouts and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Mrs. Eden is pictured here with Mrs. Fletcher Fish (at left), past president of Medford Zonta club and toastmistress for the banquet, end Mrs. Clarence Wilson, 1959 president who presented Mrs. Eden a sheaf of roses and a scroll. Mrs. Eden was also speaker for the dinner, and explained in detail the community program to beautify the city through a coordinated tree-planting project. (Kenn Knackstedt photo) Hats worn to the Easter Monday luncheon and card party of Sacred Heart Catholic church last week were "as you like it." Mrs. Billy D. Blackstone (at left) wore a black straw with her print suit, and Mrs. John T. Weisel had on a little bonnet made from material which matched the lining of her coat. Mrs. Willinm Duhaime's hat was a large brimmed straw while Mrs. Abner Clark wore a loosely . woven basket-type straw covered with gay spring posies. 'J - - IS si Si ft5A i y it ! Morris wore a smart royal blue suit and a tiny skull-cap type hat of the same color and matching shoes. Mrs. Joseph F. Clark, one of the hostesses for the luncheon and card party, which had a Centen nial theme, wore a replica of a pioneer housewife's dress a cotton print trimmed with white ruching and black ribbons. Hochstatters, 924 Jasper street, was part of the Centennial decorations for the annual Easter Monday luncheon of St. Anne's Altar society. Barbara's old-fashioned dress was loaned by Mrs. Richard Rementeria, and her black lace mitts originally belonged to her riaternal great-great-grandmother. The shoes, more than 100 years old, were originally , worn by . irs. John Carnegie's great-great-grandmother. Antique furniture, china and lamp, with a mural awn by Mrs. Ronald Caperna, completed the scene,-set up in the. corridor of Rogue Valley Country club. , "V Three high school seniors of Jackson county have been announced winners of the annual Good Citizenship award of Crater Lake chapter. Daughters of the American Revolution. The young women and their mothers were introduced at the last meeting of the chapter. Pictured are (left to right) Miss Carolyn Tiegs, Talent High school, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Tiegs; Mrs. H. S. Chirgwin, award chairman; Miss Nancy Niedermeyer, Jacksonville High school, daughter of the John Niedermeyers, and Miss Sharee Lue Skipworth, Phoenix High school, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Skipworth. The girls are chosen on th basis of patriotism, dependability and service. Miss Tiegs was given a special award which entitles her to enter in the district competition. Shown following election are (left to right) Mrs. G. Wesley Turner, Grants Pass, who was returned to the presidency; Mrs. William Wilson, St. Luke's church, Medford, the retiring vice-president; Mrs. Henry Varney, Ashland, the retiring secretary-treasurer who was replaced by Mrs. Lee Van Ausdall of First Methodist church, Medford. Mrs. Ross Youngblood, First church, is replacing Mrs. Wilson. Seventy-one women from Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass, Talent, Gold Hill, Wilderville and Cave Junction attended.
