Chapman de livered an address today be fore members of the Ore gon Labor Union gathered at Union HilL The Colonel, as always was in stout form and talked for a matter of two hours or more. He urged opposition to the 15th amendment, oposed the use of Chinese labor and came out strongly for the exclu sion of Chinese from the state and nation, and had his usual unpleasant things to say about banks, bankers and bondholders. Forestry Future To Be Discussed Corvallis The past, pres ent, and future of forestry in the northwest will be re viewed, appraised, and fore cast Feb. 20 and 21 at the Oregon State college special Centenriial Forestry confer ence. Nineteen leaders in for estry and science from across the U. S. and Canada will speak at the two-day meeting, and some 500 foresters from throughout the northwest are expected to attend. Each half-day session will be devoted to a different phase of 'The Next 100 Years in Forestry," W.. F. McCul loch, dean of forestry, noted. - The first morning session will briefly examine the his tory of forestry and outline future research needs; the sec ond will stress what's ahead in forest genetics, pest and disease control; the third will preview future developments in utilization, including har vesting methods, chemical wood utilization, and wood engineering and construction; and the fourth will pinpoint the effects of increasing popu lation pressure on forestry of tomorrow. OSC forestry staff members are in charge of conference plans and arrangements. Dean Henry J. Vaux, school of for estry, University of Califor nia, will be conference leader. Traveler to Talk At Moose Hall Here Dr. George Hunt William son, anthropologist, traveller, and author, will speak in Med ford Friday, Feb. 13, at 8 pjn. under the auspices of the Med ford Interplanetary Study Center. The program will be held at the Moose hall, 11 New town st. Dr. Williamson will speak on the unidentified flying ob ject world report, expeditions into Peru, and underwater ex plorations of the coast of Italy. He will illustrate his talk with slides. Admission will be by donation. Three Youths Being Held by Couniy Three runaway youths are being held by Jackson county authorities pending further disposition of their cases, ac eording to sheriffs deputies. A 15-year-old youth is be ing held as a runaway from Cornelius, Ore. Another 15-year-old youth is being held as a runaway from McMinn ville. A 17-year-old youth is being held as a runaway from the Vancouver boys academy. Sheriff Joe Walsh said he apprehended the three youths while he was on his way to work Wednesday morning when the car in which they were travelling "just didn't look right." Women may serve on juries in 44 of the states and in addition may serve in the District of Columbia.
