4A MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford, Mis Jo Ana Reeves Jo Ann Reeves, Bruce Kellington Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Reeves, Oregon City, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Jo Ann, to Bruce Kellington, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Kellington, 87 Perrydale avenue, Med ford. The engagement was an- nounced recently at the Delta Delta Delta sorority house at the University of Oregon where Miss Reeves is a mem ber. She attended the univer sity and is now employed by a lumber company in Eugene. Mr. Kellington is a graduate of Medford High school and is a junior at the University of Oregon in pre-law. His fra ternity is Sigma Phi Epsilon. No date has been set for the wedding. 4 Patricia Rushton Queen Finalist Eugene A Medford student who was recently selected as Jill Frost at the Freshman Snow Ball has been named as a finalist in the Delta Queen contest sponsored by Delta Tau fraternity. She is Miss Patricia Rushton a freshman at Oregon. Miss Rushton is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Rushton of 283 Oak Grove road, Medford. Temple to Hold Memorial Service Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile, will hold a stated session Saturday, February 14 at 1 p.m. in the Medford Masonic temple. A memorial service is planed. A dessert luncheon will be served at 12 noon. Mrs. C. D. Wood is chairman of the com mittee. She will be assisted by Mrs. A. K. Morse, co-chairman, and other Medford women. Sizes $45.00 fashion cents I '-'lenKO's Oregon, Sunday, February 8, 1959 Chairman Attends Meeting Mrs. John Benson was in Salem last week to attend a meeting called by Mrs. W. T. Nelson, Beaverton, legislative director for the Oregon Con gress of Parents and Teachers. More than 200 representa tives from PTA units and councils throughout the state attended. They studied bills which would affect the health, education and (welfare of young people and children. Of particular interest was ma terial presented on the state's code of laws concerning juve niles. Proposed curfew laws and the measure which would low er the compulsory school age from 18 to 16 were studied. There was little support ex pressed for the latter pro posed law, she reported. Most of those ' attending do favor the establishment of more vo cational schools in the state, she said. It was reported that last year all of the Oregon repre sentatives and senators had made use of the legislation which permits each one to ap point a student for an Oregon State college tuition scholar ship. The group also discussed the recommendation to estab lish a state scholarship board. Mrs. Benson is legislative chairman for Jackson County Council of Parents and Teach ers. Mr. Hinkson was graduated from Ashland High school and served two years in the South Central mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Lat ter Day Saints. He attended El Camino Junior college, Torrance, Calif., and is now employed by Crater Lake Motors. An early June wedding is planned by the couple. Mrs. Villiarp Sweet To Be Guild Hostess The February meeting of Gladamson unit, Wesleyan Service guild of First Meth odist church, will be held at the home of Mrs.. William Sweet, 2045 South Stage road, Monday, February 9, at 7:30 p.m. The program will be the first section of the mission study book "Concerns of a Continent," and will be led by Mrs. Lois Fretwell. Mrs. Clifford Proctor will be in charge of devotions. Guests are welcome to attend. Medford Sojourners To Meet Thursday Medford Sojourners club will meet Thursday, February 12, at 12:30 pjn., at Girls Community club. Mrs. Richard Greene is chairman for the event assis ted by Mrs. Edward Earnest, with Mrs. Robert DeVoe, dec orations and Mrs. Louis Thur man, entertainment. Each woman is to take a dinner for two, rolls, coffee and dessert will be furnished. An award will be given for the prettiest box. Both degrees are under the direction of Carl H. W. Oestreich. Preceding the degree work, Venerable Master Knute H. History Club Topic "Early History of Oregon" was the subject of a talk given by Delmar L. Smith for the January program of Med ford Junior Women's club. Mr. Smith cited many of the hardships of the early settlers and told of 'adventures en countered by pioneers locally. Program .of the club is Mrs. David DeArmond. Members of the club will enter, the Vogue sewing contest being sponsored on a national basis by the Vogue Patterns and the General Federation of Wom en's clubs. The object of the competition is to fashion an ideal clubwomen's costume. March 30 has been set for the i judging within the club, with the winner to be representa tive to the district fashion show and judging. The group is supporting the statewide projects of the Ore gon Federation including the Sadie Orr Dunbar nursing Education fund and the schol arship loan and fellowship fund which enables an ex change of students with a South American country. Mrs. Murray Dumas and Mrs. Max Larson were guests. Mrs. Gene Chamberlain was hostess, assisted" by Mrs. Wil liam Sweet. The next regular meeting of the club will be February 11 at the home of Mrs. Jack L. Holmes. Couple Observes 61st Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Lyman L. Hall, who at one time lived at California on the Rogue, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary recently. The Halls, who- are now living at Fullerton, CaKf., left Jackson county in 1945. The anniversary was cele brated in late December at two family events, a dinner at the home of their son, Wil liam P. Hall, and another din ner at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Quinn. The Halls have a granddaughter and a grandson. The couple first lived in Wayne county, Iowa, where Mr. Halls was the youngest man ever elected to county office. At 24 he resigned as deputy treasurer to become the county auditor. After com ing west the Halls operated a grocery store in Anaheim, Mr. Hall was employed for a time as ticket agent for a motor transport company and for nine years they op erated the Rogue river resort. The Halls recall that a num ber of movie stars were guests at the resort, including Wal lace Beery and Guy Kibbee. - Chapter, to Hold Valentine Party ' Reames chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will have a valentine party at a stated meeting Thursday, February 12, at 8 p.m. in Medford Ma sonic temple. Clothing Project Completed by Women Sams Valley - Members of the Sams Valley church held a missionary meeting at the home of Mrs. Floyd Sher man Tuesday and repaired clothing to be sent to the Harold Burgers, missionaries in Mexico. The women repaired, iron ed and packed five boxes of clothing for the project. A potluck dinner was held with Secret Pals name draw ing held following the dinner.
