Otiple tO Wed Music Teachers To Hold Meeting Rogue Valley chapter ol the Oregon Music Teachers association will meet at the home of Mrs. Elda Peterson, Crowson road. Ashland, Mon day, February 2, at 7:45 pjn. Mrs. Efie Kurtz, Medford, will speak on McDowell and his music and Mrs. Peterson will demonstrate the new method of fingering scales. Carol Cluf, Beta Iba and Lynn Voris, pupils of Mrs. Peter son, will play. Plans for the all teacher program at Southern Oregon college and the coming syll la bus examination will be dis cussed. All persons interested in becoming a member are in vited to attend. Degree Ceremony Planned by Lodge Frank C. Clark and cast, under the direction of Wil liam G. Meyers, will confer the fifth degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry in the Ma sonic temple, Monday, Febru ary 2, at 8 p.m. Roger E. Westerfield and cast will present the sixth degree also, for the benefit of the class of candidates, which will be joined later by other aspir ants to form the semi-annual spring reunion class. Anna Marie Therrei Summer Wedding Planned by Pair Ashland-Mr. and Mrs. John Therres, 2349 Highway 66, Ashland, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Anna Marie, to John Harmon Fox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Conner Fox, Lake Creek. Miss Therres is a graduate of Ashland High school. Mr. Fox is a graduate of Eagle Point High school and is a senior at Southern Oregon college majoring in elemen tary education. A summer wedding is planned. In May Service Mrs. Susan L. Williams, 518 King street, announces the en gagement of her daughter, DeLores Susan, to Stanley Fredric Green, son of Mrs. Allegra L. Coates, 707 West Eleventh street, and Ralph B. Green, 212 South Ivy street, Medford. Miss Williams, a 1958 grad uate of Medford High school, is now attending Robertson School of Business. She is also employed by the Rogue Val ley Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and Snack Bar. ( Mr. Green is a 1956 gradu ate of Crater High school and attended Southern Oregon college. He is now employed by Oregon Tire and Supply company. The couple plan a May wedding. ' r I " AM DeLores Williams Eagle Point PTSA Postpones Session Eagle Point The February meeting of Eagle Point High School Parent - Teacher - Stu dent association which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, will be held on Tuesday, February 24. Hunter, 50 Valley View drive, announce the engagement of their daughter, Virginia Lee, to Robert Andrew Cunning ham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert M. Cunningham, Menlo Park, Calif. Miss Hunter is a graduate of Medford High school and is a junior at Oregon Stata college majoring in business administration. She is affili ated with Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Mr. Cunningham is a graduate of Paid Alto High school and is also a junior at Oregon State college in the school of business administra tion. He is a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. No date has been set for the wedding. Reception in Ashland Observes 90th Birthday Ashland Mrs. Sarah Lou ise Hedberg, who has lived in Jackson county since 1898, was honored at a reception Sunday, January 25, which observed her 90th birthday. The reception was given at Trinity Episcopal church Par ish house, with more than 200 guests calling between two and five o'clock. Hosts for the reception were Mrs. Hedberg's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. Elwood Hedberg, Portland, and her daughter, Mrs. Agnes Henning,- Ashland. Pouring were Mrs. George R. V. Bolster, Medford; Mrs. John Thompson III,. Ashland; Mrs. Raymond Fish, Mrs. Paul R. Schuler, Medford; Mrs. Ethelyn Whitney, Mrs. Bess Somers, Mrs. R. L. Bur dic and Miss Verona Wold, all Ashland. .Assisting were Mrs. Fred Carr and Mrs. V. Ward Ham mond, Medford; Mrs. Oscar Silver, Mrs. Charlotte Hull, Mrs. Clark Rawlings and Mrs. Margaret Rush, all Ashland. Mrs. Elwood B. Hedberg, Medford, cut the birthday cake. Mrs. Somers arranged the table centerpiece of pink car nations, a Eift from Trinity Episcopal guild, of which the honored woman has been a member for many years. Attending the reception were Mrs. Hedberg's . two grandsons, ' Elwood B. Hed berg, Medford, and Philip Henning. The latter came from San Diego, Calif., where he is on duty with the United States Navy. Also among the guests were the honored wom an's three great-grandchildren, Judy, Jan and Billy Hedberg, and Judy took charge of the guest book. Mrs. Hedberg was born January 23, 1869, in Ohio, and traveled' west with her family as a small girl. She Program Announced For Wednesday Club Wednesday Study club will meet in the home of Mrs. R. J. Miller, 708 Sherman street, Wednesday, February 4, at 2 p.m. Mrs. L. K. Doty will review "Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris," and Mrs. C. W. Mitchell will give a selected topic. was married to Gustav H. Hedberg in Summitt, Calif., and the couple moved to Ash land to live shortly after their marriage. Mrs. Hedberg is a member of Alpha chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Ashland, and of the Ashland chapter, . Daugh ters of the American Revolu tion. For the reception she wore a pink gown and corsage of white carnations. In recent years Mrs. Hedberg has di vided her time between Ash land and Medford, and last Monday accompanied her daughter-in-law to Portland where she will remain for the present. Wallace Brill and Wesley Hartman will be in charge of refresh ments. 1 Gold Star Club To Hold Session Medford chapter, American Gold Star Mothers will meet Tuesday, February 3, atl:30 pjn. in the courthouse audi torium. Sunday, February 8, they will be in charge of the Camp White coffee hour scheduled at 2 p.m. The chapter has been meet ing each Thursday to make afghans for Camp White. Friends Church is Scene Of Reception for Couple Harmony hall of Friends cnurcn was tne scene of a re ception January 24 honoring Mr. and Mrs. Gary Von Smith, Portland. The Smiths were married in a ceremony held January 17 at the Friends church in Newberg, Ore. Mrs. Smith is the former Miss Barbara Jane 'Hogsett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hogsett, Sherwood, Ore. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Smith, Old Stage road, Medford. For the reception, the bride wore a black velvet dress with a basque bodice and full skirt. Her corsage was of yellow carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore a taupe color lace dress with black accesso ries. She and Mrs. R. B. Lang ston decorated Harmony hall for the affair. Bouquets and table arrangements were of yellow jasmine, daffodils, for sythia and greenery. Yellow; tapers stood in crystal holders. Mr. and Mrs. Clynton Cris man planned the program for the reception which enabled the friends and relatives of the bridegroom to meet the bride, and Mr. Crisman served as host. Wayna Brown took care of the guest book. Miss Patty Kime played prelude music on the piano, and Miss Sonja Hansen and Miss Janet John son sang. They were accom panied on the piano by Mrs. Crisman, who also accom panied the bridegroom while he sang to his bride. The wedding gifts were op ened with Miss Rita Miller and Miss Janet Johnson assist ing at the gift table. Miss Jeannette Purdy and Miss Pat Leek cut and served the wed ding cake. Presiding at the punch bowl, were Miss Peggy Jones and. Miss Inez Viers. Mrs. Wayne Roberts, who had attended the wedding, also assisted at the reception. More than 80 guests at tended the event. Mr. Smith, who is a gradu ate of Crater High school, is employed at The Trailer Sales company in Portland. The newlyweds are making their home at 1534 North East Sixth st. in that city. SOC President To Address Club Dr. Elmo N. Stevenson, president of Southern Or egon college, will be guest speaker for a meeting of Med ford Garden club Thursday, February 5, at the courthouse auditorium. His subject will be "Birds of Oregon." Tea chairman will be Mrs. Arthur Carroll.
