Dellenback of Medford is general. chair man for the second annual Mardi Gras to be given by Tudor guild of the Oregon Shakespearean festival. The festive event is planned for Friday, February 6, at Rogue Valley Country club. Mrs. Dellenback is being as sisted by the guild president, Mrs. Philip Gates, Ashland, and committee members. They are Mrs. Marvin A. Kocks, Mrs. Duane . Gillum, Mrs. Harry A. Skerry Jr., Mrs. Glenn M. Revel, Mrs. John L. Thompson III and Mrs. C H. Putney, all Ash land. The ball Is open to the pub lic and tickets will go on sale this week. They may be pur chased at Jean Harf s store, Lawrences's Jewelry store In Medford, and at the Shake spearean festival office in the Chamber of Commerce build ing, Ashland. Tickets must be procured in advance; no tickets will be sold at the door. The Mardi Gras ball is a costume event. However, those who do not wish to at tend in costume may wear Club to Observe 22nd Anniversary Electa Social club will cele brate its 22nd anniversary at a meeting set for Friday, Jan uary 23, at 12:30 p.m. at Girls Community club. The meeting will also be guest day, and a covered dish luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. Oregon's centennial cele bration will provide the mo tif, and members are asked to wear a hat from the attic, or one of their own handicraft. A gilded dollar will be the prize for the best hat. formal dress, or cocktail type gowns for women and dark suits for men will be accept able. Everyone is asked to mask for the early part of the evening. Tudor guild is a non-profit organization which assists the Oregon Shakespearean Festi val association in numerous ways. Proceeds from the ball will be used for board -and- room scholarships for festival actors and technicians and other authorized projects. Concert Announced The Griller String Quartet will present a concert Friday, January 30, at the Medford High school auditorium at 8 pan. It will be the second of the Civic Music association concerts this season. Members of the quartet in clude Sidney Griller, leader and violin: Jack O'Brien, sec ond violin; Philip Burton, vi ola, and Colin Hampton, vi oloncello. The four men have played together since their gradua tion from the Royal Academy of Music in 1928. Since 1948. they have taught and served as quartet-in-residence at the University of California in Berkeley, with time for con cert tours. Their perform ances total more than 3,000 concerts throughout the world. Medforcl Couple Married Miss Lorita Joan Jennings, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jennings, 1605 Ridgeway drive, Medford, became the bride of Ronald Kent Wis dom, son of Mrs. Alma A. Windscheffel, 220 Chestnut street, also Medford, in a double - ring ceremony held December 31 at the Wedding Bell chapel in San Diego, Calif. The Rev. Robert Loring officiated at the six-thirty o'clock candlelight ceremony, attended by 15 close friends. Given in marriage by Jerry Verkaaik of San Diego, the bride wore a white lace over taffeta gown in waltz-length, fashioned with a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. It was worn with a matching lace, long - sleeved jacket. The bride's veil was held by a white velvet crown and she carried a bouquet of white carnations. In her shoe she wore a good luck penny loan ed by Mrs. Larry Pfuntner, San Diego, who was matron of honor. The attendant wore a waltz-length pink lace over taffeta gown. Her corsage was of white carnations. Mr. Pfuntner served as best man. The couple traveled to Los Angeles and Bakersfield, Calif., for their wedding trip, the bride wearing a beige suit with corsage from her bridal bouquet. The newlyweds are making their home at 1968 First ave nue, apt. 19, San Diego 1, Calif., where the bridegroom is stationed aboard the U.S.S. Cogswell with the United States Navy. The bride and bridegroom both attended Medford Senior High school, graduating in 1956. Elks Announce Party Tuesday Medford Elks lodge will sponsor a salad luncheon and membership drive for Lady EJks Tuesday, January 20, at 12:30 pjn. at the Elks Temple party lounge. Hostesses for the event will be Mrs. Walter Germer, Mrs. George Hesdorfer, Mrs. Ev erett Gillespie, Mrs. Bruce Blew, Mrs. John Henson and Mrs. Frank Perl. Girls Plan Installation Installation of officers for Omicron Theta Rho Girls will be held Monday, January 26, at the Odd Fellows hall at 8 p.m. A business meeting will also be held. S I Mrs. Mark Odom Hatfield, wife of Ore gon's new governor, poses here in the gown which she wore for her husband's inaugura tion last week. The gown of red chiffon was worn with a white petal hat and red shoes. Mrs. Hatfield, pretty and vivacious, and the governor will move soon from the Royal Court apartment they have been oc cupying in Salem to a large old-style house which is being remodeled to meet 'their needs. Hospital Auxil Members; Off Mrs. Glen Bessonette was elected president of Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital auxiliary at the annual meet ing held Friday afternoon in the Board and Staff room of the hospital building. Other officers chosen for the current year are Mrs. Forrest Van Vleck, vice president; Mrs. Warren Lesseg, secretary; and Mrs. V. Ward Hammond, treasurer. C. I. Frederick, 5695 Table Rock road, Central Point, and their three children, Max, Kathleen, and Orrin, have re turned to the valley follow ing a trip to Riverside, Calif. While there they - visited their son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Clev er, and granddaughter, Susan Colleen. Another son of the Fredericks, Jon, a student at New Mexico University of Ag riculture and "Mechanical Arts, Mesilla Park, New Mex ico,1 visited the family while in California. Also visiting in Riverside were Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Frederick, Tacoma, Wash. The local man and Mr. Fred erick are brothers. Mr. Bolster repre sented the hospital board of directors in presenting pins to 16 women who have complet ed 100 or more hours of serv ice in the hospital auxiliary. This brings to 31 the total number of local women who have received the award in last three 'years. In many cases, volunteers have served in more than one group and hours have been accumulated over a period of more than one year. Receiving pins Friday were Mrs. Kenneth Baker, Mrs. William Barker, Mrs. Mary C. Brown, Mrs. Bessie Brearcliff, Mrs. Grace Collins, Mrs. Ed win R. Durno, Mrs. Corbin Edgell, Mrs. Beryl Lyon, Mrs. Fred Morlan, Mrs. Robert Morris, Mrs. Robert Norris, Mrs. Marian Riegel, Mrs. Eu gene Thorndike, Mrs. C. G. Van Valzah, Mrs. Mary Wood ward, and Mrs. John Winton. Mrs. Winton was also given a past president's pin, as she has just completed her, term of office. Service group chairmen for the year will be chosen this week, according to Mrs. Bes sonette. Refreshments were served after the meeting. To Meet Crater Lake chapter, daugh ters of American Revolution, will meet Saturday, January 24, at 2 p.m. at the Girls Com munity club. George C. Flan agan will speak on Conservation. Club Has Program On Public Health Miss Frances Clink of the Jackson County Public Health department, spoke for a meeting of Medford Busi- n e s s and Professional Wo men's club held Thursday at Girls Community club. The program was in charge of the health and safety committee of the club. Miss Clink explained the various functions of the health department and show ed colored slides. The club plans a card and game party at Girls Com munity club March 16. This will be open to the public. Mrs. Inez (Hugh) Friel, Medford chairman for the Great Decisions program, an nounced that. classes will be gin the week of January 25. Five club members are in Portland this week end for a meeting of the state board, Oregon Federation of Busi ness and Professional Women. An event ui ociuuary was the wedding of Mrs. Kathleen W. Allingham, 704 West Tenth street, and the Rev. John Smith Power, 427 North Grape street, at St. Mark's Episcopal church. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster officiated at the 2:30 o'clock afternoon rites attended by 350 relatives and friends. The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Young. Tunbridge Wells, England. Mr. Power, assistant rector at St. Mark's, is a son of Michael John Power, Dallas, Ore., and the late Mrs. Hazel Maud Power. White chrysanthemums dec orated the altar and red poin- settias marked the pew ends for the single ring ceremony. Mrs. E. C. Conrad played the organ wedding music and the senior choir sang. The bride, escorted to the altar by Dr. James C. Luce, wore an ice blue dress with matching hat and white ac cessories. . She carried white carnations and stephanotis on a white prayer book. Mrs. S. E. Philips attended the bride. She wore a blue and white print dress with flower hat and carried white chrysanthemums and garde nias. Peter Thomas, Eagle Point, served as best man and seat ing the guests were A. Wel don Kline, Ward V. Ham mond, William B. Clegg, J. A. McDougall, James Kunkel, and Fred Carr. Acolytes were Scott Philips and Douglas Kliever, Following the ceremony a reception was held at the parish hall. The reception was a wedding gift' from the Woman's auxiliary and the church decorations were ar ranged oy the Altar guild. . Mrs. Darroll Davis, Rose burg, cut and served the wed ding cake and assisting with the pouring were Mrs. James C Luce, Mrs.- Bolster, Mrs, Frank Morgan and Miss Mar- jorie Sandfort. The Misses Bonnie and Christy Alling ham, daughters of the bride, were in charge of the guest book. Among the out - of - town guests were Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Power, Dallas, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Seefeld, sister and brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and two sons, Halsey, Ore, The newlyweds traveled to the Oregon coast on their wedding trip. They are mak ing their home at 704 West Tenth street. For her travel ing attire the bride wore a blue knit suit with black coat and accessories. The bride is a eraduate of London, England, Foot Hos pitals School of Chiropody and is a medical secretary for Dr. James Luce and Dr. Mario Campagna. Mr. Power attend ed Oregon College of Educa tion, and Fresno State college where he received his bachel or of arts degree in education. He received his theological education at the University of the South. Sewanee. Term.. and was ordained to the priest nood in 1955. Puri-Gardener Rites Announced Eagle Point Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Gardener, Yankee Creek road, announce the marriage of their daughter, Lucy Maria, to Yesh Pal Puri of Sangpur, Punjab, India, on January 7 at Corvallis, Ore. The bride was graduated from Eagle Point High school and attended Oregon State college. Mr. Puri is a gradu ate student in the School of Agriculture, Oregon State col lege. The couple is at home at Route 4, Box 323C, Corvallis. Chapel Rites Marry Couple Mr. and Mrs. Donald Erie Gray are making their home at 803 Sherman street, Med ford, following their wedding January 3 at the First Metho dist church, Meeker Memorial chapel. Dr. George G. Rose berry officiated at the double ring ceremony held at nine o'clock in the morning. The bride is the former Miss Frances Louise Sim mons, daughter of Mrs. Rufui Simmons, Statesboro, Ga. Mr. Gray is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Erie M. Gray, 832 Dakota avenue, Medford. Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Elliott attended the couple. The newlyweds traveled to Nevada and California on their wedding trip. The bride attended North Georgia college and was a legal stenographer for the U. S. Army at Fort Benning, Ga. Mr. Gray attended Med ford High school and is em ployed by the U. S. Slavens and Mrs. J. R. Burgess were honored Wednesday at the home of Mrs. W. T. Poff, 1110 West Eleventh street, on the occas ion of their birthdays.
