BEST KNOWN BIRD IN THE U.S.A. r Police Seek New Leads in Search For Lost Family Portland -4t?B- Police today ought new leads as the third week of search began for a missing Portland family of five. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Martin nd their three daughters aged 11 to 14, vanished Dec. 7 after going for a drive in their sta tion wagon to get a Christmas tree. Police were told today that a special officer in Boise, Ida., said he saw a station wagon in a gravel pit two miles east of Boise on Highway 30 a week ago today and that he believed it might have been the Martin vehicle. Oregon state police were told the of ficer had taken the Oregon license number on the car but had lost it. He reported the incident Sunday after reading a story about the family still being missing. It appeared from the report the car since had been driven away. Searchers have followed up clue after clue and have comb ed mountains, hills and back roads in the futile hunt for the family. During the week end the lake behind the dam on the Clackamas river was searched. Another clue fizzled out Sunday when a broken guard rail, 12 miles east of Estacada was checked. Offic ers found no car had broken through. Boxer Confesses To Beating Chi Santa Monica, Calif .-UPI)-A husky amateur boxer says he beat a 20-month-old boy with his fists because .the child "made a face at me." Afex Sennie, 27, was booked on suspicion of assault with intent to commit murder Sunday after he admitted to police hitting Richard, L. Mc Mullen 10 times with his fist. The baby was being cared for by Sennie's wife when the beating took place Dec. 18, police said. Richard was reported in ex tremely critical condition at General hospital in nearby Los Angeles suffering from a rib fracture and a torn liver and pancreas. "I came home from work, tired and nervous," Sennie told police. "The baby was crying and made a face at me. I lost my temper. I guess I went out of my mind for a few minutes.
