Meitus had a bus day Sunday-first he attended Dennis Crosby's wife while iShe gave birth to a son. ; A short time later Dr. Meit us was called back to the hos . pital where he officiated at the birth or a son to actress ' Jayne Mansfield. Dr. Meitus said the two mo thers and their babies were doing well at St. John's hos pital. 'It's a boy,'! Mickey Hargi- tay, a former Mr. Universe, "shouted as he emerged from Miss Mansfield's bedside at : the hospital. "Now we've ev erything we ever wanted." Hargitay said the 9V-pound , baby was named Miklps after , him. He had taken his blonde ' wife to the hospital about nine hours before the birth. The 'baby-was due to be born. on Dec. 9, he said. ' Rough on Nerves . ."That is rough on nerves," waiting like that, the jubilant 1 muscleman said. "I was posi ; tive it would be a boy but still it was a surprise." ' Miss Mansfield said from ', her hospital bed: "I feel won- derful. He's a dream of a baby." She has a daughter, Jayne ' Marie, 8, from a previous mar- riage. Pat Sheehan, 26, former '., Las Vegas showgirl and wife j of Dennis Crosby, gave birth r to an 8-pound, 14-ounce boy. He was named Dennis Mich ': ael Crosby Jr. ' Dr. Meitus said both M r s. Crosby and Miss Mansfield and their babies probably would be able to go home in ; time for Christmas. Apathy Toward Washington - (UPD - FBI Di rector J. Edgar Hoover has said that public apathy to ward the threat of Commu nist subversion continued to grow in 1958.. Such apathy, he said, en couraged "dupes and. : sym pathizers" of the Communist Party to attack the nation's law enforcement agencies dur ing the past year. " The FBI chief . made his "ob servations in a ; year-end re port to Atty. Gen. . William P. Hogers. The report was made public Sunday night; . ? "Sensing a more" favorable atmosphere," Hoover said, "the Communist Party, U.S.A., and its dupes and sympathizr ers gained further courage and became more vocal their attacks upon law en forcement and other profes sions which are dedicated to preserving our freedoms." In his report to Rogers, Hoover said that formulating positive programs to infil trate mass organizations and establishment" of a new Com munist youth group were among the party's "most am bitious" .activities during X958. Hoover also said 1958 was marked by an increase, in crime, especially against bank ing institutions. . Suspects Arrested In Eugene Robbery Eugene -OT-. Two suspects .1 were arrested Sunday night , four minutes after a service .' station was robbed of $283 here. Police said a man who , palmed what appeared to be ' a gun took the money from .' attendant James Hill, 23, as ; Hill was closing up a station at 10:30 p.m. Hill telephoned a description of the car. At 10:30 p.m. officer Tom En right stopped a car and ar T rested two men identified by . Police as Sylvester Guy Earl, 26, Eugene, and Howard J. - Woods, 30, Springfield. Police t said the money was recovered. Funeral Rites Held ... For TV's 'Kirigfish' Los Angeles (UPD Funeral services were held Saturday for Harry (Tim) Moore, 70, the loquacious "Kingfish" of the Amos 'N' Andy television series. He died Dec. 13 of tuberculosis. Honorary pallbearers for the beloved Negro entertainer 1 : included Freeman Gosden and i Charles Correll, who play 1 Amos 'n' Andy, and Eddie Anderson, "Rochester" of the ' Jack Benny show.
