Mrs. Grubic, 34, a secretary with a daughter, 12, held out against veteran Elvira Toep fer, a bowling instructress from Detroit, who came with in a 10th frame strike of the title. As it was, Mrs.' Grubic took the $2,500 first prize women's money by a Petersen point edge of .05 - equal to five pins for the women's 32 game finals. A conductor on the 6:48 a.m. suburban train from Elmhurst Friday found a group of commuters huddled around a pile of blazing news papers in the aisle of the rear smoker. Of motor vehicles involved in fatal accidents, about 78 per cent were going straight ahead during clear weather and on dry highways. Oregon's Webfoots Romp Over Wichita by 73-57 Eugene -(UPB- University of Oregon capitalized on shaky shooting by Wichita here on Friday night to win their in tersectional basketball game 73-57. The game was, only close for about the first five min utes. Dale Herron put Oregon in front 15-14 and then Wich ita lost the ball five straight times and the Ducks took ad vantage every time to jump to a 24-16 margin. They led 39-30 at the half. ' In the second half Wichita missed its first 14 shots. Al Tate finally broke the ice with nine minutes gone. By this time it was too late for the visitors to catch up. Wichita bit only eight of 41 attempts in the second half and wound up for the game with a dismal .247 shooting percentage on 19 buckets in 77 attempts. Oregon hit 30 of 69 for a .435 average. The visitors were without 6-9 center Ev Wessell most of the game. Wessell hurt his knee in a warm-up drill on Thursday night and then re injured it Friday night.
