required for mining operations and

erations or uses, claimants of such
claims shall not use or dispose, of
vegetative or other resources there
of; and that, except for clearance
for such purposes, any permitted
severance or removal must be in
accordance with sound principles
of forest management.

the 45-piece high school band
and the girls chorus. Marches,

will be a small admission
charge. Proceeds will be used
for the music festival held in
the spring.

100th birthday at the Mitchell
sanitarium Dec. 4.

District Registered Voters
The County School Reorganization Committee is required under the law
to recommend consolidations, so as to eliminate all small, non-hljh school
districts such as Howard. There are two, larpe, adjoining districts with which
Howard could be consolidated, Medford and Central Point.
The committee has requested the Howard School Board to conduct a poll
to determine the preference of our people and report the results to the reorgani
zation committee at its next regular meeting, Monday, December 22nd, for its
guidance.
Medford School District assures us that in case we should decide to
consolidate with them, it is their policy to permit those students attending Crater
High School to finish at Crater if they so desire, and we have assurance from
the Central Point School District that they would follow the same policy with
respect to Medford students, in case we should decide to consolidate with them.
It was the feeling of your Howard school board that each of you should
make your own investigation as to the possible advantages or disadvantages of
consolidation with either Medford or Central Point.
Please indicate your preference below and mail in the self-addressed
return envelope, enclosed, so as to reach us prior to said date, at which time
your board will hold a special meeting to open and tabulate the ballots.
