2A MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford. Orcqen. Sunday, November 30, 1938 IVoolfolk-Malloroy Rites Held in White City Church Eagle Point Miss Linda Kay Malloroy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Malloroy, became the bride of David Leigh Woolfolk in a ceremony held November 15 at Berean Bap tist church. White City. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira V. Woolfolk, Brownsboro. The rites were read at eight i o'clock in the evening by the Rev. Ray E. Nelson, and about 85 guests were present. Mr. Malloroy gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a waltz length gown trimmed with lace and sequins and her veil was, finger-tip length. She carried a cascade bouquet of Fuji chrysanthemums center ed with a cluster of the same blossoms in yellow. Her pearl necklace was the bridegroom's gift and she carried a lace handkerchief which is an heir loom in the Woolfolk family. Miss Jo Ann Malloroy was her sister's orJy attendant. Her frock of golden colored taffeta was of sheath design with overskirt of white nylon organdy with gold coin dots. She carried bronze and golden chrysanthemums. Miss Susie Palm played the traditional organ music, and Mrs. Russell Ragsdale was soloist. Calvin Gillespie, Ashland, was best man for the bride groom, and ushers were Clin ton Gillespie, Ashland, and Charles Pettigrew, Lake Creek. For the wedding and recep tion which followed in the church parlor Mrs. Malloroy wore a grey-blue wool frock with yellow chrysanthemum corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a figured crepe frock and her corsage was of white chrysanthemums. Pouring at the reception were Mrs. Donald Bradshaw and Mrs. Robert Fisher. Mrs. John Ousterhout and M r s. Robert Nelson, sister of the bridegroom, cut and served the wedding cake. Baskets of gold, bronze, yel low and white chrysanthe mums decorated the church and reception room. Mr. Woolfolk and his bride traveled to San Francisco for their wedding trip, the bride wearing a white wool dress with teal colored coat and black accessories. The couple will live on the Woolfolk ranch near Brownsboro. The bride, a graduate of Eagle Point schools, is a bookkeeper for Drs. Roberts and Roberts, and the bridegroom is a ranch er. Club Party Getogether club will hold a Christmas party with an ex change of gifts at the Girls Community club at 1 p.m. Fri day, December 5. A covered dish luncheon will be served and new officers will be elected. Children's Play Set December 10 The children's play "Rum pelstilskin" will be presented for Medford and Jackson county school children by Southern Oregon College players Wednesday, December 10. The performances will be at 2:30 and 4:15 p.m. in the Craterian theater, Medford, and are sponsored by Medford branch, American Association of University Women. Tickets will be sold at the schools De cember 9 and 10 during the noon hour. The 2:30 p. m. perform ance will be limited to stu dents through the third grade and students from county schools. The 4:15 p.m. pro duction will be for students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Parents may purchase tick ets for the preschool children for the 4:15 p.m. performance by calling Mrs. Berwick Wood, SPring 2-9116. Mrs. Wood Is general chair man of the play sponsored each year by the American Association o f University Women in Medford for its fellowship fund. Carpenters Leave For Palm Springs Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. V. Carpenter, Topside s, Old Stage road, left yesterday for Palm Springs, Calif., to spend several weeks. They will live in a house at Thunderbird Country club belonging to Mrs. Carpenter's sister, Mrs. John Scott of Santa Barbara. En route south the couple will spend several days with Mr. Carpenter's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Carpenter, Carmel, Calif. At holiday time the Medford couple will be joined by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Carpenter, who will come west from their home in Waitsfield, Vt. r Dinners Given At Colony Club Mrs. Marjorie Pitts and her sister, Mrs. Lillian Salade were hostesses for two recent dinner parties. They were giv en November 15 and 22, and both were at the Colony club. Keith Bales Jr., who were married in Eugene November 1, visited in Medford for the Thanksgiving holiday at homes of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Gray, Cherry lane, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Keith Bates, 1714 East Main street. Mrs. Bales is the former Suzanne Eleanor Gray. Mr. Bales is a senior at Ihe University of Oregon and Mrs. Bates is on lhe staff of the Eugene Credit Bureau. Service League To Hold Christmas Charity Ball With Thanksgiving events now history, valley residents are turning their attention to December and the coming Christmas holidays. This is al ways the gayest season of the year, with many parties on the calendar. Invitations to the annual charity ball to be held on Fri- Carol Hussong To Play Sunday Portland Miss Carol Hus song of Medford will perform in the annual winter concert to be presented by Epsilon Delta chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, national women's pro. fessional music sorority, Sun day, December 7. The concert will feature varied instru mental and vocal numbers by the chapter members. Miss Hussong will join Miss Elizabeth Barker, Seaside, to play Chaminade's "Morning and Evening' in a piano duo. She is a sophomore music edu cation major and the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hussong, 56 South Barneburg roa'd. Also on the program will be piano solos, a flute sonata, a violin sonata, vocal solos and a vocal ensemble. This concert and the spring recital of American music are an nually presented by the LC chapter in accordance with the sorority's general purpose of promoting musical life on campus. - Installation Set Association By Officers of . the Women's association of the First Pres byterian church will be in stalled Tuesday, December 2, by Dr. and Mrs. K. D. West at the church. A luncheon, served by Mercy circle, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Officers to be installed in clude Mrs. George Flanagan, president; ' Mrs. Lloyd Neil son, first vice-president; Mrs. George Osier, second vice president; Mrs. Walter Roem er, secretary; and Mrs. Joe Dispenziere, treasurer. Circle chairmen, also to be installed during the after noon, include Mrs. D. A. Hutchison, Mrs. Max Priebe, Mrs. William Farrell, Mrs. D. W. Husband, Mrs. Thad Hatten. Mrs. William Seibert, Mrs. Ramsey Miller, Mrs. Harold Gregory, and Mrs. Herbert Roberts. The triple trio will sing. At the close of the meeting the new circle chairmen will meet. day, December 12, at Rogue Valley Country club, are now being sent by Medford Junior Service league. This ball has become one of the major events of the holiday season and the proceeds go to sup port the league Kindergarten for Hard of Hearing Children. Again this year the women are asked to wear fancy head dresses. This feature of the formal event was started sev eral years ago and adds great ly to the festivities.- Head dresses are judged during the evening and the winner is proclaimed "Queen of the Ball." Other prizes are given during the evening. A cocktail hour is planned from 8 to 9 o'clock and the buffet dinner will begin at 9 p.m. Dancing will be both in the main dining room and the Crest room of the club. Co-chairmen for the event are Mrs. Charles Mickelson and Mrs. Jack A. Edson. As sisting them as committee chairmen are Mrs. B. Kent Blackhurst-, invitations; Mrs Jonathan . Los Altos Couple Guests in City Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Bullis, Los Altos, Calif., were holiday guests at the home of Mr. Bullis' sisters and broth er, Mrs. Ralph Boutelle, Miss Helen Bullis, and Seth Bullis, all Florence avenue, Medford. The relatives arrived in the valley Wednesday and re turned to their home yester day afternoon. Seth Bullis returned last Sunday from San Francisco where he attended the na tional convention of Savings and Loan associations, which was attended by more than 4,000 delegates. Approximate ly eight Medford residents at tended. During his week long stay in the Bay area Mr. Bullis at tended a concert of the San Francisco symphony orchestra conducted by Arthur Fiedler and a performance of "The Music Man" with Richard Tucker in the leading role. BOOKS GIFTS RECORDS Rites Held In Talent Wed Pair Talent-Miss Dorothy Mae Long, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Granby, route 1, box 275, Talent, became the bride of Jack A. Foster, son of Mrand Mrs. B. V. Turner, 121 King street, Medford, in a ceremony held November 14 at Talet Methodist church. The Rev. Earnest Bell offi ciated at the double ring wed ding held at five o'clock in the afternoon. Chrysanthe mums decorated the church for the ceremony. Mrs. Agnes Day played the traditional wedding music and accompa nied Mrs. Clarence Holdridge, soloist. The bride wore a powder blue suit with white acces sories and carried .a purple orchid on a white Bible. She was given in marriage by her brother, Frank Long. v Mrs. R. H. Cosio, Eugene, sister of the bridegroom at tended the bride. She wore a light brown dress with black accessories and white carna tion corsage. Mr. Cosio served as best man while Jonathan Granby, brother of the bride, and Daniel Cooper seated the guests. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Turner home in Medford. Pink and white carnations decorated the tables for the event. The bride is a graduate of Talent High school and is a student at Southern Oregon college. Mr. Foster is em ployed by Klamath orchards. The newlywed couple are making their home at 1716 North Riverside avenue. PEO Treasurer Attends Ceremony Mrs. Fletcher Fish, Phoe nix, returned home Sunday after being in Lebanon, Ore., for institution of a new chap ter of the PEO sisterhood. The new chapter was desig nated DA. Mrs. Fish, member of chap ter BE, Medford, is treasurer of the state chapter. Also present for the ceremonies was Mrs. E. E. Vehrs, Grants Pass, state president, and a large group of state and na tional officers in Oregon. The institution banquet and ceremonies were held in First Christian church in Eugene. Book Club Contemporary Book club will meet Wednesday, Decem ber 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Malcolm Byers. Mrs. McCleod Maurice is in charge of the program. Miss Jaye MacDermol Jaye MacDermot Engaged to Wed Ray A. Powers Trail Mr. and Mrs. George MacDermot, Trail, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jaye, to Ray A. Powers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell O. Pogue, Eagle Point. Miss MacDermot is a senior at Eagle Point High school. Mr. Powers, a 1958 graduate of Eagle Point High school, is now serving in the Navy aboard the USS Vega. No date has been set for the wedding. v Church Ceremony Marries Couple Miss Lois Joyce Hebner and Richard Raymond Brown were married in a ceremony held November 14 at Ascen sion Lutheran church. The Rev. Elvin S. Tollefson offici ated at the rites, held at eight o'clock in the evening. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hebner, Saegertown, Penn., and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and. Mrs. Albert Mueller, Jacksonville. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Jones attended the couple. The newlyweds are ' Uving in Jacksonville. Engagement News Of Interest Here From Hillsboro, Ore., comes news of the engagement of Miss Evelyn Pauline Brock to Charles C. Campbell. Miss Brock is a daughter of Mrs. Boyd W. Brock, formerly of Medford and now of Hills boro, and the late Mr. Brock. Mr. Campbell is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Campbell, Portland. Miss Brock is a sophomore at Oregon College of Educa tion, Monmouth, and Mr. Campbell is a junior at the same school. Valley Couples to Marry In Double Holiday Ceremony Among nolidav weddings will be a double ceremony for two Medford sisters: Miss Carol and Miss Marilyn Bai ley, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Bailey, 157 Reception Honors Alice Hood Mrs. Alice Hood, iong jme resident of Southern Oregon, celebrated her 80th birthday anniversary Friday, Novem ber 14th. On Sunday, Novem ber 16, approximately 50 rela tives and friends greeted Mrs. Hood at a reception given at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mercer, 417 J street,. Medford. Among those attending the reception were seven of Mrs. Hood's 11 living children. They were Mrs. Harry Dubbs of Grants Pass, Mrs. W. R. Walker, Mrs. Lloyal McCay, Mrs. Elmo L. McGraw and Kenneth Hood of Medford; Melford Hood of Gold Hill and Mrs. Mercer. Unable to attend were Mrs. Hood's four other children, Mrs. Carl Lin der, Midvale, Idaho; Mrs. Frank M. Bryant, Chula Vista, Calif., Orville Hood, Payette, Idaho and Mrs. E. R. Kelly, Central Point. For the reception the rooms were decorated in pink and white. The pink cake shaped as the figure ''80" had been made and decorated by Mrs. Mercer. ' ' Mrs. Hood was born in Ar kansas in 1878 and has resid ed in southern Oregon since 1924. Mr. Hood died in 1937. Mrs. Hood is an active mem ber of the Church of Christ and is now living at 79 Jan ney Lane. South Keeneway drive, will be married January 1 in a double ceremony at Central Point First Presbyterian church. Miss Marilyn Bailey will become the bride of Eugene Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wright, Butte Falls, and Miss Carol Kaye Bailey will be married to Arthur Terrance Brereton, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Brereton, 161 Ross lane, Medford. Miss Carol, a 1956 gradu ate of Crater High school, is a stenographer at the California-Pacific Utilities company. Mr. Brereton is a student at Southern Oregon college. Miss Marilyn is a senior in elementary education at Southern Oregon college. Her fiance, Mr. Wright, served four years with the United States Navy, later attending Southern Oregon college and is now employed at the Elk Lumber company's power house. Carol Robinson Plays In Recital Marylhurst Miss Carol Robinson, freshman at Maryl hurst college, was presented in a recital November 24 in Flavia salon. She. played "Gardens in the Rain" by De bussy. Miss Robinson also ac companied Miss Judith George, soprano, in the recital. Miss Robinson is a member of the 40-voice college chorus which will participate in Marylhurst's Winter Concert on .December ,10, singing a group of four old English Christmas carols. She will also be accompanist for Miss Helen Bolton, violinist, play ing the Kreisler "Praeludium and Allegro."
