Waking Candles Can Be Less Expensive Making your candles is not only a lot of fun, it can be less expensive than buying the ready-made ones. Here's how to do it: First, place a mixture of old candle stubs and paraffin in an emp ty tin can (a shortening can is good) and bend to form a spout. Now add crayons or oil paints for color. As the candle stubs melt, remove the wicks and save those long enough lor reuse. Dan gle the wick and clip In the center of the container hold ing steadily by the pencil. Pour the wax into the mold, detach pencil from wick and let candle stand until hard. Then, remove candles from molds by dipping them in hot water. Candles in waxed con-, tainers, such as milk cartons, are easily removed by cutting away the container. Cut the wick to desired length. There are an infinite num ber of ways to decorate the candle . . . adhere colorful stickers, drip gay-hued wax from another candle down the sides, stick sequins and fake jewels around the sides in a pattern or add fluffy "icing." Accomplish Latter This is how to accomplish the laten-cool some wax until it begins to ieU, tnen whip with a fork until frothy. Ap ply to the base candle with a table knife, just as you would ice a cake. If you want a candle of a size that is too small to stand up by itself and too big to fit in any of your holders, there is a way to make a base sim ply, without buying a thing. Just take three forks that you will not be needing and stick them face side up into the candle evenly around the base.-: -. ... . " The forks will rest steadily on the "heel" and tip of tht handle.
