Dave Harbison, president of the Eagle Point class room teachers association, and Mrs. William Pomeroy, president of the county unit of Oregon Education association, attend ed a fall conference depart ment of classroom teachers of the Oregon Education asso ciation at Eugene recently. Mrs. Elsie Turner , Mrs Ernest Gregg and Mrs. Wil liam Pomeroy attended a Teachers Education and Pro fessional Standards meeting at the Riversid e school, Grants Pass, Saturday, Nov. 1. Teachers from Coos, Cur ry, Douglas, Klamath, Lake, Josephine and Jackson coun ties attended. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mitchell, Van Nuys, Calif., was a re cent visitor at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mitchell, at West Third St. a recent visitor from Wimer at the home of the , Canter bury's. Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Chamberlain was host and hostesses for a birthday din ner for Mrs. Don Bieberstedt, Eagle Point, and Cecil Kee of Shady Cove. Those attending the Sunday dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Don Biebersted and family, Eagle Point, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kee and Cecilia, Shady Cove, Mr. and Mrs. R. D Silvers, Shady Cove, and Mr. The Women's Missionary Society of the Eagle Point Community Bible church held an all day meeting with 15 attending recently. A potluck luncheon was served at noon with Mrs. Fred Canterbury an3 Mrs. Francis W. Terry as cohostesses. During the business meet ing, Mrs. Calvin Lusk was nominated as "Mother of the Year." The ladies need used cloth ing, and clean white sheets for bandages. The next regu lar meeting will be held at the church on Nov. 20 at. 10 a.m. with a potluck luncheon and all ladies are urged to attend. The ladies of the mission ary also attended the semi annual 'Womens missionary rally Oct. 21 at the Williams Community church, Williams. The speaker was Mrs. Wil liam Berg, missionary from the Philippine Islands. Mrs. Lewis Collens reported on the various missions in Japan. It was- announced that the next rally will be held at the Cave Junction Community church in April. ,' Man Sentenced to Six Months in County Jail Kenneth Lloyd Larson, 31, of 46 Bigham drive, Central Point, was fined $5 costs and. sentenced ' to six months in the county jail by District Court. Judge James M. Main Wednesday afternoon on a. charge of operating a vehicle without an operator's license in his possession. Larson, who pleaded guilty to the charge, had originally given the Oregon state po lice, who arrested him, the name of Steve Al Stevson. Judge Main also revoked Larson's parole on which he was placed several months earlier. Attorney Unseats Hermiston Mayor Hermiston - (CPU - Hermis ton attorney Wililam H. Belt unseated Mayor Frank Wells here in Tuesday's voting by a 2 to 1 margin. Belt will be sworn in as new mayor Jan. 1. and Mrs. Morris Silvers and , t?a11 M1fnrrf. He is reported to be some im proved. Mrs. L. L. Lindsay, Bend, is visiting at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Claus, and Patty. She arrived at their home Sunday. Mrs. Natal Youree, mother of Mrs. Fred Canterbury, was Yonkers, N. Y.-(UPD-William H. R. Langridge, 77, an indus trial engineer who retired from his own engineering con cerns in New York and Chi cago in 1938, died of a heart attack shortly after leaving a polling place here Tuesday,.
