Don McCuiston, of Tulsa, Okla., was killed at the Wichita, Kansas, Municipal Airport, by a bomb he apparently picked up in' a phone booth. Here, his body lies in the hallway where the bomb exploded. Note shattered windows, and smashed light fixtures in the ceiling. " ' BLOW UP BUILDING Strabane, Northern Ireland -UPD-Irish Nationalist extrem ists blew up the Labor Ex change Building here early to - day. The building, was empty at the time. There were no casualties. Washington-OJPB-The Atom ic ' Energy Commission an nounced Sunday that Russia had exploded another nuclear weapon, the second in two days and the 10th since the Soviets resumed testing on Sept.' 30. By LYLE C. WILSON UPI Correspondent Washington -UPD-Chairman Meade Alcorn of the Repub I i c a n National Committee Pfff JCjj cheerily told S vC$- imSrt newsmen a t the White House the Jtt Presidpnt Ei- "jf senhower did 1 1 npt either re pudiate the Oct. 6 cam paign accusa- Lyle C. Wilson tion that the Democrats inescapably would lead the United States to so cialism. The question arose with the chairman because on Oct. 15 at his news conference, the President was asked this question: "Your meeting with ' Re publican leaders last week (Oct. 6) was followed Tsy a statement which said: 'Na tionalization and socialization of industry is the clear alter native to a Republican con gress.' Do you subscribe to this?" . ' Eisenhower replied: "Well, I read the statement and I don't remember that it used that exact language. I be lieve it said that unless you supported the Republican program, that there would "be a lead or direction toward the left that could eventually be come socialism, or something of that kind, butl don't be lieve it was the same lan guage you (the questioner) gave. Now in any event it was theirs, and I think poli ticians do love to make things very positive, What the Oct. 6 statement did say was that the Demo cratic party - was dominated by political labor bosses and left wing extremists to an ex tent that the alternative to a Republican victory this year would be: "Either we Americans ded icate ourselves to strengthen ing and preserving private enterprise, using the only de pendable political instrument -the Republican party-or we are certain to go down the left lane which leads inescap ably to socialism." Newsmen generally inter preted the president's reply as a disclaimer or repudiation of the Oct. 6 statement which was distributed at the White House by Alcorn after he and other party strategists' had lunched there. Alcorn last week was asked about that and replied no disclaimer at YOUR BIO W . j. Rome DPD The Rome Medical association Saturday accused Prof. Riccardp Gale- azzi-Lisi of unprofessional conduct in selling to newspa pers and magazines intimate and detailed accounts of the last hours of Pope Pius XII. Galeazzi-Lisi was physician to the late Pope for more than a quarter of a century. He called the society's ac tion a case of "professional jealousy." The association announced it would hold an early meet ing to decide what formal ac tion should be taken. A spokesman said this could range from censure to expul sion from the medical society of the Province of Rome. Christian Democratic Sen. Angelo Rafaele Jervolino asked the government to take action against Galeazzi-Lisi under the 1929 Lateran pact with the Holy See providing for punishment for insults against the Pope. There was no official Vati can comment but Vatican quarters said there was "vir tually no other course" for the society to take. all "The President made some helpful suggestions," Alcorn said. "He did not write the statement. I do not Tegard what the President said at his news conference as a repudia tion. I advise you to read what he said at his (Oct. 14) birthday breakfast, it was consistent with the Oct. 6 statement, almost the same language.' The White House text of the birthday breakfast re marks seem not to support Alcorn's belief that what was said then was almost the same as what was said on Oct. 6. At his birthday party, however, the President de parted from his prepared text to go this far: That the choice in November was between sane, arid " sound - govern ment" under the Republicans and "radical government" un der . Democrats. - . . . What he had intended to say merely was this: "We started in 1952 to break away from the kind of government that wants to put all power, all direction of our economy and our whole pop ulation, in the hands of cen tral bureaucracy. He wanted to restore more authority to localities, to states and above all to individuals. ... We wanted to remove unwanted economic controls and we did. We have tried ... to keep this country on a system of fiscal responsibility-rather than irresponsibility." Chairman - Alcorn's word "almost" is a big word cover ing a lot of territory but it does not seem big enough to make the White House cam paign statement and the Pres ident's birthday speech sound alike.
