Cake decorat ing was demonstrated by Mrs, Kenneth Brown and Mrs Fred Salvage. It was an nounced the tailoring project would be started in January. A report on visiting the muse um at Jacksonville was given by Mrs. Les Basham. Last week was a full one for the Alton Sowells with three days spent in Arcada and Eureka, Calif., visiting Mrs. Sowell's parents, the John C. Rossiters in Arcada and with her sister and fam ily in Eureka. Mr. and Mrs Ted McCall. After returning home, Sowell obtained a permit to burn off some brush on the back of their property. As so often happens, a breeze blew up, sending the fire out of control and burned about an acre of the Sowell place and about two acres of the adjoin ing Don Orton property. The state department and the Cave Junction rig of the Illinois Valley Rural Fire Protection were called. The fire caused no damage, burning off brush and slashings on both prop erties. - The DeMolay Mother's club plan a homemade candy sale Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bank of Illinois Valley. Next Tuesday will be the final session in the first five week standard course of the Red Cross first aid classes. A second five-week standard course will be offered begin ning in November with Dave Chamberlain of the forest service as instructor. Twenty-three members are enrolled in the Selma area under the direction of Myron Terpering. It is planned to hold a three weeks advanced course following the next standard class for interested persons from all three lessons. and Mr. and Mrs. John C. Rossiter of Arcada.
