Local Pathfinders Place Second In State Fair Medford Pathfinders placed second in the annual state fair held at the Eugene County Fair Grounds Sunday, failing to win first place by three points. A total of 186 points were possible which included com petition in various events, dis plays and club attendance records. Two Oregon clubs, Hood River and Tabernacle (a Port land group) tied for first place with 177 points, and Med ford's club followed with 174. The Medford club was in first place last year. Blue ribbons were awarded the local group in four events: marching, tent pitching, knot tying, and booth display. The Medford booth consisted of a nature display, with eight tables, each one arranged and decorated by one of the club's eight units. The displays in cluded trees, flowers, butter flies, marine life, cut and pol ished rocks, fish, insects, and shells. Two features were 3dded to the fair this year, according to , Mrs. Oral Tucker, club deputy director. For the first time a displfy of model, air planes in flight was presented by one of the clubs, and a group of horses in a, cavalry demonstration were shown by the Springfield club. , Of interest to all Pathfind ers present was the announce ment of a planned four-day Northwestern . States Camp oree to be held next June in Washington. Pathfinders from six Northwestern states will attend what promises to be the largest Pathfinder gath ering in the club's history.
