    Local Pathfinders
Place Second
In State Fair
Medford Pathfinders placed
second in the annual state fair
held at the Eugene County
Fair Grounds Sunday, failing
to win first place by three
points.
A total of 186 points were
possible which included com
petition in various events, dis
plays and club attendance
records.
Two Oregon clubs, Hood
River and Tabernacle (a Port
land group) tied for first place
with 177 points, and Med
ford's club followed with 174.
The Medford club was in first
place last year.
Blue ribbons were awarded
the local group in four events:
marching, tent pitching, knot
tying, and booth display. The
Medford booth consisted of a
nature display, with eight
tables, each one arranged and
decorated by one of the club's
eight units. The displays in
cluded trees, flowers, butter
flies, marine life, cut and pol
ished rocks, fish, insects, and
shells.
Two features were 3dded to
the fair this year, according
to , Mrs. Oral Tucker, club
deputy director. For the first
time a displfy of model, air
planes in flight was presented
by one of the clubs, and a
group of horses in a, cavalry
demonstration were shown by
the Springfield club. ,
Of interest to all Pathfind
ers present was the announce
ment of a planned four-day
Northwestern . States Camp
oree to be held next June in
Washington. Pathfinders from
six Northwestern states will
attend what promises to be
the largest Pathfinder gath
ering in the club's history.
