Ark.-IUPD-Little Rock's private school corpo ration reported today offers of money and emergency classrooms are pouring in for its new, last-ditch plan to keep the scr Is white. t The plan ior privately sup ported and privately housed schools apparently would leave Negroes with no high schools and would be staffed by retired teachers. But Justice Department of ficials said the plan was an other "scheme" that simply won't work. The officials told United Press International in Washington it would be the people of Little Rock, rather than the courts, that would reject the plan because it ' would mean the end of free public education which has become the foundation of the American way of life. Nixon To Arrive In Portland Friday Portland - (UPD - Vice Presi dent and Mrs. Richard M. Nixon will arrive at Portland International Airporf about 2:30 p.m. Friday for an over night visit packed with news conferences, receptions, a ban quet and a major address. The Vice President will hold a news conference in the quiet lounge at the airport terminal before proceeding by motorcade to the Multnomah hotel. A reception for Republican party workers wijl be held at 5 p.m. at the hotel and the S49.50-a-plate dinner at the Masonic Temple begins at 7:45 p.m. Mr. Nixon will speak about 9 p.m. Frank Kenny, special agent in charge of the United States Secret Service in Portland, said all police agencies will cooperate in. the special se curity measures required for a vice presidential party. The Nixons will leave Portland for Washington about 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
