Mr. and Mis. Edward H. Baker League School To Open; Annual Style Show Set 4A MAIL TRIBUNE, Madforti, Oragoit, Sunday, September 7, 1938 Baker-Daniel Rites Are Held In Reno Chapel Miss Gaye Daniel became the bride of Edward H. Baker in a ceremony held August 31 at the Park Wedding Chapel, Reno, Nev. The Rev. Ray mond Walters officiated at the double ring ceremony held at five o'clock in the afternoon. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Glenn D. Martin, 531 Fairmount street, - Medford, and John P.- Daniel, Living ston, Mont. Mr. Baker is a son of Mr. and Mrs.. Fred H. Baker, 128 South Keeneway drive, Medford, and has been making his home in Chico, Calif. The bride wore e white faille brocade frock styled on princess lines with black vel vet accents. Mrs. Martin attended her daughter. She wore a rust and gold print tissue taffeta frock. Glenn D. Martin serv ed as best man. . Pink and white gladiolus and white ' chrysanthemums decorated the chapel. Following the ceremony a dinner was given by Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hoffman of Reno. On their wedding trip- Mr. and Mrs. Baker traveled to Pleasanton, Calif., where they visited the bride's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Daniel, and an uncle and aunt of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl G. Luce, Lodi, Calif. Tney visited in Med ford several days before leav ing for Chico where they are making their home. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and has been employed by the Bate man Insurance Agency. Mr. Baker is also a graduate of Medford High school and at tended Chico State college, Chico. He is employed as an engineer - technician by the Golden Empire Broadcasting company, KHSL-TV, Chico. Luncheon, Meeting Set For Fellowship i The business and mission ary meeting of the Women's Fellowship of First Baptist church will be Tuesday, Sep tember 9, at 12:30 p.m. start ing with a dessert luncheon in the church annex. Esther White Cross circle, directed by Mrs. Fred Landers, will serve. The missionary program will be a 40-minute olor film strip, "Meet Mr. Page" des cribing the part that is played by Christian literature in the missionary effort around the world. i Mrs. Larry Adams will give the devotional. Eight valley children will enroll in the Junior Service League's Kindergarten for hard-of-hearing children this month. The school, operated by the League, is supported by various benefits, one of which is the League's fall fashion show. The annual show, with a theme of "Back to School", will be held Thursday and Friday, September 11 and 12, at the Rogue Valley Country club. Reservations may be made by calling the club at SPring 2-5965. Of the children registered so far for the 1958-1959 term four students are returning and four are new students. Two of the students who at tended the school last year are enrolled at the Tucker Maxon school, Portland, two will enter public school in Medford and Central Point, and a fourth will enter the state school in Salem. The school will be held this year in their building at Jack son street and McAndrews road. The Crater Lions donat- To Leave Mrs. George Campbell will leave today for her home in Campbell, Calif., after a visit here with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don ald Robinson, 32 Ross court. The gift table was arranged under a green and white para sol while the serving table was decorated with pink min iature gladiolus and pink lap ers. The place cards were also tiny parasols with the favors small white wedding bells. Mrs. Dunn made the floral arrangement. Tourney Planned Invitations have been sent and plans completed for the annual Southern Oregon Pairs tournament sponsored by the Medford Duplicate Bridge club. In the east-west position ' Mr. and Mrs. Leland Clark were first with 203 Vz points. Other high scores in the north-south position were won by Mrs. Fred Purdin and Mrs. George Dean, second, 173; Mrs. Frank Baker and Ray Wise, third, m'Vfc; and Mrs. E. L. Miller and Miss Isobel Stuart, fourth, 1-71. In the east-west position Mr. and Mrs. Berg Marten with 198 points were second; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Smoot and Mr. Marrs Gibbons and Mrs-Bernard Hughes tied .for third with 163 points each. ' List Speaker Dr. John Brandenburg will discuss "Hazards of Medi cine" at a meeting of Oregon Nurses association, District 4, Tuesday, September 9. It is set for 8 p.m. at Rogue Valley Memorial hospital. Mr. and Mrs. David M. Sei ness were married August 22 in rites held at the home of the Rev. Floyd Pollock, Eagle Point. The newlyweds are liv ing in Central Point. - Home Ceremony In Eagle Point Marries Couple Eagle Point Miss Lois Mary Cunningham was mar ried to David M. Setness in a double-ring ceremony held at the home of the Rev. Floyd Pollock, Eagle Point, Friday, August 22. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Em ory Cunningham, Route 1, and Mr. Setness is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred M. Setness, 735 East Pine street, Central Point. Miss Norma Evans, Central Point, attended the bride and Donald Relling, Medford, was best man for Mr. Setness. The bride wore a dress of blue linen with white acessor ies and white orchid corsage. The newlyweds . made a wedding trip up the Oregon coast, and are now at home on East Pine street, Central Point. Following their return, a reception was held Tuesday, August 26, at the Eagle Point Teenage clubhouse. Miss Magdeline Schnack served the wedding cake, Miss Char lotte Keene poured the coffee and Miss Nelda Webb the punch. Mrs. Earnest Wisley took charge of the guest book and Miss Celeste Huffman the gifts. ' About 50 relatives and friends attended. The bride was graduated from Eagle Point High school and is employed at Bear Creek orchards. The bridegroom was graduated from Crater High school nd is employed at the Medford post office. Visitor Leaves After Stay Here Mrs. Amalia Ewaldsen left the valley Thursday for her home in Savannah, Ga., fol lowing a summer visit at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ewaldsen, 20 Ross court. Mrs. Ewaldsen, who arrived here in June, was honored at several social events during her stay. This is her third trip to the valley. f First Fall Session Of Eagle Point Club Held at Crandells Eagle Point Eagle Point Garden club members held their first meeting of the fall at the home of' Mrs. D. L. Crandell recently. H. L. Som mer, Talent, spoke on soil and fertilizers. The next meeting will be held October 1 at the home of Mrs. Steven Wilson. -Roll call will be "I know this herb and a use of it." Each person is to bring an herb from her own garden.
