Ivy's even more popular this fall than in past seasons. Some chances have been made. After several years of strict Ivy tailoring, this neat look is branching into bright er colors and variations in style. Being shown along with the classic dark stripes, gray flannels and conserative tweeds and a wide variety of prints. New touches have been add ed with the introduction of fur and fur-like trim in out erwear, print shirts and the liberal use of bright red. . Outerwear makes news in a choice of several lengths and stvles. PoDular are the class ic suburban coat, the surcoat, midway-length jacket and tne toggle coat. ' Head Bands Headliners In Fall Fashion News Headache bands, vamp bands whatever the name, head bands -are headliners in the fall fashion news. Variations range from ging ham and plaid ribbons to vel vet bicycle clips ornamented with jewels, roses, bows, but tons or small brass motifs. Matching head belts and waist belts are offered in a choice of leathers and colors. Short black nightgowns have a very young look this fall. Stir Caused by I Chemise Echoed In Lingerie Styles The stir caused by chemise, trapeze and other new fash ions in outer wear is being echoed in lingerie styles this fall. One indication of this is the big comeback of pettiqoats, notably the special petticoats required under" the trapeze. The newness of this silhou ette, which starts from a nar row top and slopes out at the sides to a moderately wide hemline, is in its restrained fullness and smoothness of line. It's almost like a funnel in shape, with fullness accel erated only at the back. The old bouffant petticoats don't meet the under-shaping needs of this type of garment. Hence, the popularity of the new petticoats t-iid, also, the new trapeze slips. The latter, for wear under one - mece trapeze dresses, have fitted bust sections and shaped, paneled skirts which are flat in front and bacK. Trapeze petticoats are worn under two-piece dresses and suits. There are many varia tions, since there are full and less-full skirts. Some need really stiff but shaped layers underneath, While others re quire shaped layers in softer fabrics. Chemise lines are repeated n straight, snort sups, wun such variations as high waists anH "firecracker" flounces. Lace trimmings call attention to hemlines. Pantv less' are longer, the longest and newest length of all being the pantalette wnicn stops just above the knee. The ease of the new sunou ettes makes them a "natural" for sleen and loungewear. The long fitted nightgown is still a favorite, but there are many versions of the trapeze gown, usually flaring from an Em pire bustline. The chemise influence shows up in free-flowing pa jamas and gowns of every length. It is often combined with the "covered-up" look of high necks' and long sleeves or with shirt-waist tailoring. A brand new color spec trura includes . champagne shades, warm apricots and peaches, deep blues, soft greens and iced pastels. Red and black are also more im portant than ever.
