Mosquito Spraying Done in Valley A mosquito spraying crew from the Jackson county health department was cover ing all ponds and roadside ditches on county property in the Sams Valley area yester day, according to Orie Moore, county sanitarian. Since spray crews are not allowed to spray on private property, Moore suggested residents spray around homes with a solution of 25 per cent DDT in a water mixture. A spray with an oil base will possibly damage the more tender plants around the home, he explained. He suggested a fairly strong so lution be used around and underneath the house. This should be spread around the shrubbery next to the house, around the foundations, un der the house and up under the eaves, the sanitarian sug gested. Moore added that although the county area has some anopheles mosquitoes, mala ria carriers, they are not a problem here. The nights are too cold, he said. Health department spray crews are attempting to get the adult mosquitoes before they lay eggs and in this way head off the spring hatch, he added. So far this has proved satisfactory, he added.
