Each article .s a summary of an actual report. The Family Council does not give advice; it merely reports on problems that have been dealt with by responsible agencies and counselors. Shirley F. My sister and my husband are in love. Bruno F. I just want to figure things out. Shirley F. My husband and I have been married eight years and have three children. We had always been happy, until a few months ago when I became quite ill and my younger sister came to stay with us to help me out. At the time I was ill I hard ly knew what was going on, but since I have recovered, I realize things were not as they should be. My sister no longer visits us and my husband was withdrawn and cold toward me. Finally I wormed the in formation out of my sister that she and my husband were in love. My husband denies any thing wrong has taken place, but something my sister' said leads me to think otherwise. I can't stand living this way and I offered my husband a divorce. He says he wants only a temporary separation. Bruno' F. All I want is a chance to think things out. My plan is to board out for a while so I can figure things out. Shirley says if I leave now she never wants to see me again. I realize I chould never have let things come to such a serious point, but I am tell ing the truth when I say the things Shirley suspects never haDDened. Why must she tor ture me and herself with her suspicions? Shirley's sister and I have hardly seen one another since she left our home. But I know through a mutual friend that she is still carrying the torch for me. I don't know what I think any longer. I do care for her, but I realize it's all wrong, and I never wanted to break up our home and leave my kids. It was all a mistake. . The Council: We believe there is only one suitable Dlace in which Bruno can "think things out" and that is his head. He does not need to board out to do it. Bruno seems to be a very weak man. Despite his good intentions, he can easily be come the prey of anyvevil intentioned woman. He must reconenize his weakness and seek strength through greater understanding of himself and of higher spiritual and moral values. SP 2-4107 To do this he needs the help of a clergyman of his own faith and of his wife. In her hurt, Shirley has been far too hasty in offering her husband a divorce. Another way of seeing her problem would be to recognize that her husband and her children need her. She can now save or des troy her family. She is wast ing her greatly needed strength by brooding over her suspicions. Her mind can only fall into confusion when she follows this twisted path. She needs all the mental clarity she can muster. From the evidence given, we judge Shirley's sister is a very dangerous woman. She has apparently given Shirley hints intended to poison her relationship with her husband. This sister was not entirely successful in winning Bruno and we doubt whether she plans to give up the fight. It would be wise for Shirley and Bruno to get away from her physically as far and as quickly as possible. (Copyright 1958, General Features Corp.)
