o bounties Knot with Beavers But Keep Edge Over Phoenix By United Press International Van couver's Mounties, al though stymied by the curfew law in their home town plus the inability to win despite a X-run rail, managed to hold onto their slim lead over Phoenix in the Pacific Coast league chase. The Mounties host Portland In a double header Monday after grinding 15 innings to an 8-8 tie with the Beavers yesterday. By then, it was 6 p.m., time to retif according tdOa Sunday law which also wiped out the second contest. But Vancouver o remained rime percentageopoints ahead of Phoenix. The Giants split with Seattle, taking the sec ond game, 7-3, after the Rai niers won the opener, 5-2. Other Games O In other games, Salt Lake swept two from Sacramento, 5-4 and 3-2 while 'San Diego hammered Spokane, 11-2, in a single game. : Vancouver exploded for six tuns in the sixth inning to ruin Bob Garber's dreams of hurling a no-hitter. Ray Bark er's two-ruS double was the key blow of the attack. The last-place Beavers went out ahead, 7-6, with a four run blast in the eighth but Buddy Peterson drove home two runs with a double for Van couver in the ninth to send the game into overtime. From there on the teams played scorless ball while using up a total of 33 players, including 12 pitchers. Rabe Looks Sharp ' Charlie Rabe hurled a sharp nine-hitter against Phoenix to give the Rainiers their vie tory in the opener. A four-run splurge in the fourth inning helped the PCL veteran who was optioned back to the league Friday by Cincinnati. Then Curt Barclay, bolstered by a five-run rally during the fourth frame, turned back the Suds with a seven-hitter in the finale. Sam Miley and Paul Pettit hit back-to-back pinch singles to give Salt Lake its 5-4 vic tory over Sacramento in the eightli inning of the short opener which went into over time. Don Urquhart went all the way to win his sixth straight. Carlos Bernier made a great catch of Harry Bright's fly in the ninth inning of the nightcap to assure George Perez his third triumph of the campaign. Harding Peterson doubled home the winning run in the eighth. San Diego crushed Seattle with a 15-hit barrage that made things easy for south paw Bill Werle. Lovenguth yielded two hits in the seven-inning nightcap to win his fourth game over Miami, 1-0, while sending Paige, who is working on his second 50 years, to his fourth defeat. Oregonians Dominate ND ALL-Star Pullman (UPI) Oregon placed four men and Oregon State three on the all North era division baseball team picked by coaches and sports publicity men at the five schools. Oregon men on the team included pitcher Don Lane, catcher Ellis Olson, second baseman Wimp Hastings and outfielder Len Read. Olson was the only unanimous choice. Read led the ND in hitting with a .446 mark. Oregon Staters were pitch er Gary Moore, first baseman Gene Bates and third base man Tom Bowen. Dick Brede recorded his 11th victory against no losses as he pitched a steady six hitter for Grant. It was the second A-l baseball title for the Generals.
