More than 80 women model ed dresses made in n ex tension service cotton dzgss workshop last winter. Tour of Gardens To Be Part of -Rose Festival Portland SiP private gar dens and the Portland Garden club building and grounds will be open to the public dur ing the Portland Rose festi val. This is the' first time a tour of private gardens has been made available to the public. o The tour is sponsored by the Junior League of Port land in cooperation with the Festival association. The tea which will be held in con junction with the tour is spon sored by the Portland Gar den club. The tour will be held June 11, 12, and 13 from noon until 5 p.m. with the tea scheduled between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Chartered bus transpor tation will be available. Persons may order tickets and bus tickets, if needed, from the Junior League office, 1717 S.W. Park avenue, Port land. o 4 Chorus to Sing For (Chapter AA Mrs. J. F. Fliegel will en tertain Chapter AA of PEO Sisterhood at her home, 22 North Modoc avenue, Wednes day, June 11, at 12:30 p.m. The Convention chorus will sing following the luncheon. Mrs. J. A. Cunningham and Mrs. C. I. Drummond will as sist the hostess. Homemakers' Festival Features Frock Follies More thn 300 women from all parts of Jackson county attended the annual Homemakers' festival of Jackson coun ty extension units Wednesday afternoon in Central Point Grange hall. The program featured a talk by Evelyn Funk, extension agent from Oregon State college, and a style show in which women modeled cotton dresses they had made in workshop held last winter Mrs. Rillin Jones, Medford, chairman of the county ex tension committee, presided, and Miss Marilou Garner, ex tension agent, was commenta tor for the style show. Th afternoon closed with tea and social hour. New county committee members were elected during a business meeting. Mrs. Le land Charley, Lake Creek, who is first vice-president of the state committee, was named to a one-year term to represent District 1, replacing Mrs. Chester Willson, Rogue Elk unit, who is moving to Idaho. District 1 includes Lake Creek, Elk-Trail, Pros pect and Shady Cove. Mrs. W. W. Jackson was elected to three-year term to represent District 2, which includes Eagle Point, Butte Falls and Reese Creek. She succeeds Mrs. Ted Freden burg, Butte Falls unit. Elected to represent Dist rict 7, Sams Valley, Agate and Evans Valley, was Mrs. Ruby Pleasant. She succeeds Mrs. Barbara Gosnell, Sams Val ley. Remaining on the commit tee are Mrs. Elmer Reinking; District 3, Westside, Lone Pine and Medford parents; District 4, Mrs. Rollin Jones, Oak Grove, Griffin Creek and Medford; District 5, Mrs Paul Snook, Central Point, Howard and Willow Springs; District 9, Mrs. Dora Krause, Applegate, Upper Applegate, Ashland, and Valleyview. A skit ws given in honor of Miss Mary Pat Lucy, coun ty extension agent for home economics, and she spoke on the purposes of the extension program. Mrs. Jones welcom ed -members and visitors, who numbered 35; Mrs. Ted Fre- denburg, Butte Falls, gave the invocation. Mrs. Doris Adarel Chapter Announces Events; Delegates Return Jacksonville Adarel chap ter, Order of Eastern Star, will hold installation of offi cer Saturday, June 21, at 8 p.m. in tht Jacksonville Ma sonic temple. Adarel Social club will mifet Thursday, June 12, at 12:30 i-m. at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Winningham, 107 Perrydalt avenue, Medford. Members are asked to take tgble service. Attending grand chapter session from Adarel were Mrs. Winningham, worthy matron; J. E. Crawford, worthy patron, and Mrs. Crawford; Mrs. George Mero, associate matron; Gail Buf finton, associate patron; and Irs. Orval Shores, grand rep resentative to x Illinois in Oregon. Knapp led community sing ing, and Mrs. A. W. McQuat was organist. "Desire is the key to learn ing," Miss Funk told the wo men during a brief talk. She said that every person has the same amount of time 24 hours in every day ' and that everyone has the same three commodities to spend time, energy and money. She added that money - will buy only food, but not appetite, that it will buy medicine, but not health, and may bring joy but not peace of mind. "Time is more important than money," said the speaker and explained that the happiest people are those who give themselves to something that lives on when they are no longer living. Eighty-eight women mod eled clothing in the show. The dresses made in the workshop had to meet four require ments; each must have set-in sleeves, have a seam at the waistline, have a collar and buttons and button holes. The Frock Follies closed on a humorous note. Miss Lucy modeled a 1929 black chemise dress and Mrs. John David son, Eagle Point, wore a "sack" dress made from a gunny sack labeled with "Rat Poison." Mrs. Donald Kimmell, who will be chairman of the Eagle Point Extension unit for 1958 51, was one of the models for a cotton dress style show held as part of the' annual Homemakers' Festival Wed nesday afternoon. Each wom an wore a dress she had made in a workshop, and although each had to observe the same four rules as to style and design, all 88 were interest ingly different. Installation Held for Mothers ' Mrs. John Davies was in stalled commander of Rogue Valley Navy Mothers club at the meeting held recently. Warren Boe, Navy chief petty officer, Navy recruiter here, installed the officers. Also installed were Mrs. L. C. McKay, first vice-commander; Mrs. Ben Ashton, sec ond vice - commander; Mrs. Glen Curtis, chaplain; Mrs. James Wicker, judge advocate; Mrs. Henry Dooms, Ashland, finance officer; Mrs. C. W. Childers, Applegate, adjutant; Mrs. Carl Ludwig, flag bearer; Mrs. Mary Fredericks, banner bearer; Mrs. Nute Lycksen, matron-at-arms, and Mrs. C. R. Alexander, musician. ' The club will meet July 15 at 1 p.m. at the Girls Commu nity hall. Rogue Valley Navy Mothers will ' hold the annual June birthday party for men at Camp White Wednesday, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. All Navy mothers and their guests are invited to attend. Speaker Named For Assistants Ned Minamoto of the Ames Research laboratories will be guest speaker at the Thurs day, June 12, meeting of the Jackson County Medical As sistants in the Red Cross building, Hawthorne avenue.
