CW Tussles Butte Foils Camp White Camp White of the Rogue Valley Baseball league will oppose the leader O of the Northern Califprnia loop on Friday when it mets the Klamath Falls Kubs in a semi-pro game here at 8 p.m. Kiamatn currently paces the NCL with an undefeated record and is the only club unmarred. The Kubs beat Yrekafe Calif., 10 to 8 last Sun day. The Camp White nine plays Butte Falls in a non-loop fray this evening at the Vet erans Administration domicil iary stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m. It will be the fourth meeting of the two clubs this spring. Camp White has won two of the sessions. Second victory by the VAD club was by 1 to 0, indicating a tough tussle tonight. Rockets are being used to fight forest fires. A 5-11 submarine ball pitch er, 29-year-old Hyde is de veloping into one of the Amer ican league's ace relievers. He saved both games of Tues day night's twi-night double header as the Senators beat the Kansas City A's 5-4 and 10-9. Hyde's record is an impres sive 3-1 but his value to the club is even greater. (Bob) Murray, 77, a well known sports throughout the state and dean of sports in this Columbia river city. Murray died Monday night following a heart attack. Murray, who was born here, took over football coaching duties for The Dalles high school in 1911 and handled other sports as well. He turn ed out state championship football teams in 1920, 1923 and 1928. Murray also served for a time as freshman football coach at the University of Oregon and in 1920 went to the Rose Bowl with the Ore gon team. He retired in 1929 as prep coach and entered into a ca reer of heading learn-to-swim programs, and community and American Legion baseball teams. Ladl in Hationa Hard Ridden Wins Famed Epsom Race Epsom, England (UPI) Hard Ridden, an outsider owned by Sir Victor Sassoon of England, won the 179th running of the famed Epson JC Junior Golf Meet June 13, 14 Entries for the 13th annual International Junior Cham ber of Commerce Junior Golf tournament indicate that a new ' high in participation will be reached, according to Glenn B. Keyes, chairman for the southern Oregon elimin ation competition at Rogue Valley Country club here. The local area tournament, under sponsorship of Medford Junior Chamber of Commrce will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14. Any boy under the age of 18 as of Aug. 15, is eligible to enter the Jaycee junior golf rivalry. It is one of the most popular programs in the country. Two top contestants in the meet here will qualify for the state tourney at On tario. Four low gross scorers in the Oregon elimination gain the right to vie in the international finale held at Tucson, Ariz., Aug. 18-23. An added feature this year in the Medford tourney will be the use of a handicapping system. Trophies will be awarded the two players turning in the lowest 36 hole net scores. These are in addi tion to the trophies which will be awarded to the two low gross contestants. The state champion will re ceive the Coca-Cola Bottler award in addition to other honors. At the international finals, contestants will vie for nine trophies presented by the Bottlers of Coca-Cola. London Grabs British Title London (UPI) The possi bility of a rematch between. Brian London, newly-crowned British and Empire . heavy weight champion, and Willie Pastrano of Miami, Fla., was raised today as a result of London's conquest of Joe Er skine. London gained both crowns Tuesday when he knocked out Erskine at 1:47 of the eighth ground of their scheduled 15 round title bout at White City Stadium. Hard Ridden, which earned his owner a purse of 26,630 pounds ($74,844), left the post at odds of 18 to 1. Third-place Nagami was a 10 to 1 shot. Approximately 250,000 fans, including Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family, watched the classic. The queen's horse, Miner's Lamp, was among those which finished out of the money. Hard Ridden's margin of victory was five lengths. Pad dy's Point, owned by F. N. Shane of Ireland, finished a length and one half ahead of Nagami, another English entry. State Trap Event Here This season's trapshooting at Medford Gun club will be climaxed next week by four days of competition. The occasion will be the Oregon State shoot of the Pa cific International Trapshoot ing association. Dates are Thursday through Sunday, June 12 through 15. Complete program will of fer 900 targets. Champion ships in 13 categories will be determined. Thursday will be a warm up day with the Medford 100 at 16 yards and the Medford handicap on the slate. State titular activity opens Friday with the class championships and doubles crown at stake. Both are 16-yard events.
