Webster is a brother of Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Munshaw. After visiting here, the Websters will con tinue on to Bagotville, Que bec. May 14 Mrs. Ruby Down ing's class of third grade stu dents of Central Point Ele meitary school went by bus to Jacksonville where they touted the museum. HORNBROOK Troop Takes By MRS. H. H. CHAPMAN Hornbrook At the 1958 Scouting Exposition, May 10, in the Mineral Arts building at the. Siskiyou County fair grounds in Yreka, Hornbrook Troop 38 was top award win ner with a booth on forestry. A unique feature of the booth was a presentation to 300 of the visitors to the dis play of small potted ever fretm trees. Each recipient wM registered by tropp mem bers in attendance at the booth. Later, troop membars plan to call on the recipients to five advice on the plant ing and care of the trees. This feature was judged as a fina example of Scout in terest in forest conservation. In keeping with the theme of forestry! tree growth rings wera displayed on a cross cut of a log on which were pinned small pennants indi cating specific growth at dates coinciding with important dates in American history.' Also in the booth was a dis play of forestry pests show ing several insects destruc tive to the economy of the forests. The booth body itself comprised a well-designed for estry scene with a mountain stream running through a cea tgal valley. Credit should be given to the troop as a whole for its cooperation in all phases of preparing the booth and the displays, with special mention going to Scoutmaster Harlev Baker. Eagle Scout Mike Barnum and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Barnum, and to Conrad Overstrom. Guests arriving for Mother's Day ft the home of Mrs. Ella Rose were Mrs. Cecil Buell of Tulelake, Calif., and her sis ter. Mrs. Lois Buell of Gree ley, Colo. They left Wednes day for Tulelake, where Mrs. Lois Buell is visiting her sis ter. Mrs. Lauran Paine and Mrs. Fnsene French of Yreka shared honors at a birthday party Wednesday at Mrs. Paine's home on the Klamath river. On the refreshment com mittee were Mrs. Angus Todd, Mrs. Rudolf Hansen and Mrs. George Sharp. Mrs. Wilson Smith was the decorating chairman. Seventy four peo ple attended. The Community Bible Church Missionary Society will hold a work day Friday at Fellowship hall. Women are asked to bring a sack lunch and meet at the hall at 10 a.m. to roll bandages and to sew for the Lee Greens, missionaries to Africa. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beatty of Central Point moved last week end to their new home on Roberts rd. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Chastaln and sons, Eddie and Bobby, of Gants Pass were in Cen tral Point Thursday visiting and on business. The Chas tains are former residents. Mrs. John Clark of Central Point and Mrs. Peter Whitten burg, visiting here from Ger many, left Thursday after noon for Seattle to visit. Mrs. Clark will visit at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Clark. Top Award eye surgery last Wednesday. Hohweiler's home is in New Jersey, but he has spent the winter months here with Mr. and Mrs. Nye. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williams and her mother, Mrs. Jennie Richardson, of Oakland, Calif., were in Hornbrook Wednes day calling on old friends. Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Rich ardson are old-time residents of Hornbrook. Mrs. Richard son is the former Mrs. Jennie Hobson. Mrs. Frank Burkhart Jr. and daughter, Melanie Lynn, of Areata, Calif., are visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Sloan. The California Highway pa trol still has under investiga tion an accident in which two Hornbrook men received in juries. T. D. (Pat) Killings worth Jr., 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Killingsworth, re ceived major injuries, while less seciously hurt was B. T. McRobert. The accident oc curred about 2:05 a.m. May 13, about two miles south of Cottonwood bridge on High way 99. Both men are in the Siskiyou General hospital in Yreka. In reply to remarks by Sen. John F. Kennedy (D-Mass.) in a speech at Eugene Sunday that the Eisenhower admini stration "has strung" power development in the Pacific Northwest.Mautz said: "With the greatest hydro electric construction program in the history of the Pacific Northwest, or any other re gion of the United States,. now underway, th senator was cer tainly misinformed . . . ." The Oregon GOP leader ad ded that the region's power buildup "in unprecedented numbers of kilowatts is the result of construction by fed eral, public and private bod ies in a coordinated effort to do the job. (W Mass slayer Charles Starkweather said Monday he would like to kill a defense psychologist and his attorneys for saying he is insane. Starkweather made the statement to Dr. John O'Hearn, a Kansas City, Mo., psychiatrist, who talked with Starkweather at the noon lunch break of the mass slay er's first-degree murder trial.
