The two teams met again today. Oregon stood at 6-1 while Oregon State and Wash ington State were tied at 6-4 for second place. . The Ducks scored three times in the first inning against the Vandals and went on to win in a breeze behind the seven-hit pitching of Qol lie Heath who fanned 14. Jerry Urness smacked out a three-run homer for Ore gon in the seventh. He also had two other hits to pace the Webfoot stickers. Medford and Ashland High school baseball nines collide on Friday afternoon on the Medford diamond in a ruckus crucial for both schools. A doubleheader is slated with the first game, a South ern Oregon conference coun ter, set for 2:30 p.m. Second fray will be a non-leaguer. Winner of the opener will stay in the running for the conference and District 6 A-l banner, moving up just a game behind the loop-pacing Grants Pass Cavemen. Loser of the battle will be out of the chase for the diadem. Other league contention is billed for another Medford field also on Friday. Crater will be host to Klamath Falls on the Cheney Studs' diamond at the south edge of town. In this action the counting game will be at 1:30 p.m. with a non-conference mix to follow. Rated Toss-Ups The Medford-Ashland bat tles are rated toss-ups. They have broken even in previous activity, this spring. In ' the SOC counting fracas Ashland was victor 1 to 0. In non league games Medford record ed 1 to 0 and 2 to 0 verdicts while Ashland took one has sle 6 to 3. Coach John Kovenz is ex pected to call on Dennis Barr to handle the Medford Black Tornado chucking chores. For Ashland Mentor Snuffy Smith may assign Pete Stemple to the hill chore, although Alan McKinnis is a mound possibil ity. Kovenz reported that one of the Tornado outfielders, Dick Durante, has had a strained shoulder but should be ready for the Ashland rivalry. He said that Tornado hitting has shown improvement. Crater closes out its league slate against Klamath. Bob Fowler could have the pitch ing duties and Blake Griggs may be the Klamath mounds-man. PILOTS VICTORS Salem (IF) University of Portland's golf team, paced by Pat Cline's 70. defeated Willamette 12-6 Wednesday.
