Ceremony Held Here For Couple Miss Beatrice Elaine Levt zow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Levtzow, 517 Wes i avenue, Medford, became the bride of Theodore John Gar rigus, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Garrigus, Merlin, Ore., in a ceremony held April 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. John Ilg of ficiated at the 10:30 o'clock morning nuptial mass attend ed by 27 relatives and friends. Lilacs and white gladiolus decorated the church for the wedding. Bruno Pellegrini played the organ wedding music. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore- a bal lerina length white chantilly lace and net over satin gown. Her fingertip length veil was held by a coronet of lace and she carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations. Mrs. Floyd Walton, sister of the bridegroom, Areata, Calif., attended the bride. Henry Brady, cousin of the bridegroom, Portland, served as best man. A breakfast was held at the Medford hotel by the par ents of the bridegroom. The reception was , given by Mr. and Mrs. Levtzow at their home. 1 The couple are making tir home in Merlin follow ing a wedding trip to Salem and Crater Lake. For her traveling attire the bride wore a blue suit with pink and black accessories. The bride attended Pros pect and Medford schools. The bridegroom attended Forest Grova and Portland schools and is employed by Bates Ply wood company. Out-of-town guests attend ing the wedding included Mrs. Florence Lubka, grand mother, and Mrs. - Edward Becker and Bonnie, aunt and cousin, all relatives of the bride from Richmond, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. K. E. Erickson, Castello, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson, Portland, grandparents of the bride groom, and Mr. and Mrs. Remus Branson, Timber, Ore. Meeting Planned By Presbyterians Jacksonville Women's as sociation of First Presbyterian church, Jacksonville, will meet Tuesday, May 13, at 1 pjn. for a dessert luncheon at the home of Mrs. Marian Nie dermeyer on Old Stage road. Mrs. Harold White and Mrs. Albert Griffin will pre sent the program. Mr. and Mrs. 'Theodore John Garrigus (Brainerd photo) Leaders Honored At Tea Tuesday Camp Fire, Blue Bird and Horizon club leaders were honored at a tea Tuesday when they met with the board of directors of the Rogue Camp Fire Girls council in observance of Leader Recogni tion day- Mrs. Elmo Steven son, Ashland and Mrs. Frank Christian, Talent, past presi: dents of the board, presided at the tea table. Mrs. J. P. Rowan,' Medford, president of the board thank ed the leaders for their "faith ful service" this past year, and Mrs. Ruthe Gerety, ex ecutive director, spoke on the "Leaders' Role in Council Growth." Mrs. Rufus Younger, Med ford, was presented a 5-year leadership award by Mrs. Gerety. Students Give Spring Recital Thursday Night Elementary and advanced piano and accordion students of Mrs. Peggy Apollo present ed a recital Thursday evening at First Southern Baptist church. , Participating students were Greg Jones, Diane and Jean Sweet, Janet Hammer, Kathy Thompson, Jeri Shouts, Kar en Ewaldsen;' Bonita Denyer, Pauline Denyer, Charlene Mc Cormick, Ernie Jones, Ellen Sherman, Diane Shinn, Jim mie Elliott, Carolyn Cole, Anna Jean Beardslee, Jack son Phillips, Karen Wolk Laniewski, Evelyn Plyer, Rob ert Rutter, Marilyn Fanger, Ruth Phillips, and Janet Jones. Catholic Ceremony Weds Pair Central Point Miss Mari lyn Rae Grennan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Grennan, 70 South Ninth street, Central Point, became the bride of John Harold Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Thomp son, 315 Main street, Phoenix, at a nuptial mass April 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Medford. 1 , Father John A. Ilg offici ated at the double ring cere mony, held at 10:30 o'clock in the morning. The families of the couple and relatives of the bride from Eugene, Ore., and Ever ett, Wash., were present. . - The bride wore a white lace ballerina length gown lined with white taffeta. It was fashioned with cap sleeves, a wrapped bodice of taffeta which formed a bouf fant bow in back. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and lily-of-the-valley centered with a pink orchid. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Gail Glidden, Phoenix, was bridesmaid. She wore a sky blue lace ballerina length dress with a small white satin hat and a corsage of pink car nations. Glenn Thompson Jr., broth er of the bridegroom, served as best man. . . The organ : ,music was played by Bruno Pellegrini. Serving as altar boys were Michael Naumes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Naumes, and Larry Wright, son of Mr; and Mrs. Robert Wright. ? No formal reception had been planned because of the uncertainty of the date of the bridegroom's leave from serv ice. About 25 family members called at the home of the bridegroom's parents to wish the couple well and see them off on a wedding trip. The wedding cake was baked and decorated by Mrs. Thompson, mother of the bridegroom. M r s. William King, aunt of the bride, cut and served the cake. For her wedding trip the bride chose a pink wool suit with the pink orchid from her brdal bouquet for her corsage Both young people attended Phoenix High school. The bridegroom is a seaman in the Navy and will rejoin his fleet at Pearl Harbor May 22, for several more months of sea duty. Pupils Present Recital Monday Mrs. D. F. Huson presented her piano pupils Monday in an annual spring recital at First Presbyterian church. Iris, spirea and white tapers decorated the tables where the refreshments were served following the program. Bou quets of iris and pink dog wood decorated the rooms. Assisting with the refresh ments were Mrs. Lawrence Buonocore, Mrs. Frances Wil lett, Mrs. Nell Laing, Mrs Barbara, Doolen, Mrs. Ken neth Brown, Mrs. Earl Yoak ley and Mrs. B. M. Hoover. Appearing on the program were Nicolette DeWitt, Alicia Buonocore, Kent Stevens, Madelyn Buonocore, Margaret Doolen, Margo Shreeve, Mike Hoover, Kathy DeWitt, John Barker, John Yoakley, Rilla Kay Den Herder, Laurie Beth Buonocore, Robert Wil lett, Julie Ann Yoakley, Jan na Gaye Deh Herder, Cheryl Mansveld, Sharon Laing, Nancy Becken, Charla Jo Meyer, Darelyn Huson, and Shirley Hopkins. 1 Rosebud Council Member Elected To State Office . Miss Cecelia Fichtner, the daughter of Mr. and 'Mrs. Earle Fichtner, 2547 Corona avenue, was elected grand royal warder of the grand council of Pythian Sunshine Girls at the third annual con vention held in Portland last week end. Miss Fichtner is royal princess of Talisman Rosebud council here. Also attending the state meeting from the Medford council besides Miss Fichtner were Miss Rose Ann Brooks, Miss Berta Crippen, Miss Layle Bostwick and Miss Lanae Bostwick. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bostwick accompan ied the girls as counselor and royal advisor. Thursday, May 15, from 1 un til 4:30 p.m. by members of the Providence guild. Theme of the special week, May 11 through 18, is "Ca reers That Count."- To empha size the theme the guild has furnished posters to all Jack son county high schools to interest young women in a nursing career. - Mrs. Everett " Gosch, guild president, reported that dur ing the past year the guild has purchased a special stretcher for conveying X-ray patients to the laboratory; glove drier and powdering machine. The guild also fur nishes volunteer personnel for the Jackson County Public Health chest X-ray program each Thursday afternoon and the first Wednesday evening of each month. She reported that the members of the guild have donated more than 2,000 hours of service since the commencement 'of the pro gram. . : ' Other projects of the guild included the maintenance of a . gift shop on the second floor of the hospital; sewing, which includes the making of layettes for ; needy mothers, and other necessary mending. Chairman of these projects is Mrs. Julian Shaskey: Mrs. Gosch stressed that the guild , is a nondenomina tional organization and all in terested persons - are invited to join the group. -4 Plan, Party' The Gettogether club will hold a public card party and dessert luncheon Friday, May 16, at 1 p.m. at the Girls Com munity club. National Hospital week, May 11. to 17, will be noted at Rogue Valley Memorial hospital by the annual Aux iliary tea Friday, May 16, ac cording. to Mrs. John N: Win ton, auxiliary president. Any one interested in the hospital is invited to call at the new hospital building on Barnett road between 2 and 4 pjn. Tea will be served in the "board and staff room" on the first floor of the hospital. Mrs. Winton adds that the auxiliary rooms will also be open for inspection by any one who may not have seen them during the hospital's open house two weeks ago These include the new gift shop-and snack bar, and .ad jacent store room and sewing work room. General chairman for the event : is Mrs. William A. Barker.' Miss B. J. Larsen, hospital administrator, states that sev eral individuals have indicat ed an interest in touring the building. No tours will be conducted during the tea, but for the benefit of anyone who may have missed the oppor tunity during open house, ad ditional groups will be shown through by appointment only. Reservations may be made by telephoning the hospital, SP 3-6281. Displays at the tea will in clude samples of items made by outlying chapters of the auxiliary arrranged by Mrs Otto Frohnmayer and Mrs. Glen Bessonette, who have taken care of hospital week plans for the auxiliary this year. Projects exhibited . will be "Pinkie the Puppet", made by members of St. Martha's guild, Church of N the Good Shepherd at Prospect; scuff slippers for patients, from St. Officers Elected By Secretaries Mrs. Alta Bledsoe was elected president of Rogue River chapter, National Secre taries association, for 1958-59 at a dinner meeting held at Mon Desir inn Thursday eve ning. Other officers elected for the coming year are Miss Phyllis Brownlee, vice presi dent; Mrs. Donna Edmonds, corresponding-recording sec retary; , and Mrs. Margery Eaton, treasurer. ' After dinner speakers were Miss Marilyn Brown and Miss Sharon Wymore, students at Medford Senior High school. They gave a resume of the secretarial and stenographic courses offered in high school. Final plans for a rummage sale to be held May 24 at the Fehl Building were discussed by Miss Brownlee, chairman of the ways and means com mittee. V ' ' ' .. i Mrs. Gloria Reaves, local chapter president, reported on plans for awarding the an nual secretarial scholarship and announced that applica tions must be received by May 23. . A report on the Oregon Division meeting of NSA which was recently held in Portland was given by Mrs. Gwenn Caster. New division' officers for the coming year are Mrs. Margaret 1 Hansen, Salem, president; Mrs. Hazel Keller, Portland, vice presi 'dent; Mrs. Eloise Gantenbeim, Portland, secretary; and Mrs. Gwenn Caster, Medford, treas urer. Medford was selected for the next division meeting which will be held on May 15 and 16, 1959.
