I thought she would have more sense. Frieda says Dan loves her j too and wants to marry her. ; My brother is in an uproar and his wife blames the whole thing on me. I have talked myself hoarse on the craziness of this thing to no avail. Frieda R. Dan and I just knew they would raise a fuss. Our family is the limit! They live back in the dark ages. The least little thing shocks them. My cousin and I have stud ied biology and we know what we're about. If there is no in sanity or feeble-mindedness or serious physical defect run ning through the family, it is safe to marry. Any doctor will vouch for that. Dan and I feel we will real ly make a great team. We have been going out together ever since we were kids and we have the best times to gether. When we go out with others we are always uncom fortable and the evenings are wrecked. We have our quar rels but we always make up. Our friends say we make a perfect couple. Civil War Widows Get Bigger Pension Washington (1 ate passed a bill Thursday to give pensions for the first time to the widows of Con federate veterans and raise pensios of widows of veterans in all conflicts before World War I. The measure, passed .by voice vote and without de bate, goes back to the House, which passed it last May 6 as a pension increase for Spanish-American War widows only. I The Senate Finance Com mittee estimated the bill would cost 12 million dollars for increased pension bene fits to about 84,300 Spanish American Wat veterans' wid ows; 4,000 widows of Union Civil War veterans! 1,000 wi dows of Indian War veterans, and four widows of Mexican War veterans. The committee made no flat estimate of eligible wi dows of Confederate soldiers and sailors, but said "it is es timated that if 1,000 widows of Confederate veterans could the cost would be approxi mately $750,000." The Hollywood Scene BJj Hollywood (IP) The 11 week old Hollywood musi cians' strike against the major film studios today showed signs of keeping Mexico's marichis in plenty of pesos al though there were strong rumbles of packed-up prices south of the border. To date, Mexico City musi cians had done the scoring of such movies as "10 North Frederick." "How in Roh a The Sen- Njce Little Bank." "Rock-a- Bye-Baby" and "King Cre ole." But the European continent was running a close second for studio business with dates set to do the musical score of four films in Munich and France. This report touched off a resounding retort from tb Mexican actors' and musi cians' union, ANDA: "Mexi co is not taking advantage of the situation but is operating under a union scale discussed an agreed, to last year by reptrsentatives of two major Hollywood studios." Nevertheless, independent producers who appear to be doing most of the "producing" these days weren't in on the agreement, apparently, and are beginning to look else where when budget andor background dictates they go out of the country.
