Bishop Dwaine Nelson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Medford, officiated at the double ring ceremony held at 7:30 o'clock in the evening. Nineteen rela tives and friends of the cou ple attended. The bride wore a powder blue suit and carried white and lavender lilacs. She was attended by Mrs. Jim Keen, also of Jacksonville. Vern Fields served as best man for his cousin. Following the ceremony a reception was held. W 7 ' s Luncheon, Show Set for May 5 Kiwanian Dames invite in terested to view "Fashions Out of this World" Monday, May 5, at the Rogue Valley Country club. Luncheon time is 12:30 p.m. Fashions will be presented by Leon's, Mann's, Rath's, Burelson's and Johnston and Stewart stores and after the fashion showing, an afternoon of cards is planned for those wishing to stay. 'This annual Kiwanian Dames party is a fund raising project and proceeds will go to the free dental clinic. Jacksonville High school. SP 2-8992 i A ..ss-ss.-w. j I First Rites At Church Wed Couple The first wedding to be held at the new Ascension Lutheran Church of Medford wedded Miss Irma Hoffman and Vernon Delmar Dahlke on March 28. The Rev. Elvin S. Tollefson officiated at the eight o'clock evening cere mony attended by 75 rela tives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoffman, Route 1, box 488, Talent. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahlke, 411 Haven street, Medford. The bride wore a white bal lerina length lace over satin dress fashioned with scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves. She carried a bou quet of white roses and carna tions. She was given in mar riage by her brother, Elynn Hoffman of Ashland. Miss Yvonne Woodson at tended the bride. She wore a pink colored ballerina length frock and carried pink carna tions. Cecil Owings served as best man and seating the guests were James Tizekker and Allen Dahlke, brother of the bridegroom. Baskets of spring flowers decorated the church for the ceremony. Following the wedding rites, a reception was held at the church. Rosebuds and ferns decorated the table that held the wedding cake baked and decorated by a friend of the bride, Mrs. Her bert Good. The bride attended Phoe nix High school. The bride groom attended Medford High school and Southern Oregon college. He is em ployed as a tabulating busin ess machine operator at Har ry and David Nancy Conroy To Give Recital At Ma ryl hurst Marylhurst Miss Nancy Conroy, . Marylhurst college senior music major, will be presented in a voice recital May 1 at 8:15 p.m. The re cital will be held in Flavia salon on the campus. Miss Conroy will be assisted by Miss Annette Broschet, . cell ist. The Misses Beverly Pec cia and Barbara Campbell, pianists, will accompany her. The program will open with an aria from Bach's "Magnificat", "La Pastorella" by Schubert and "Charmant Papillon", an early air, by Campra. Three pastoral songs by Roger Quilter, with string accompaniment, will follow. "Caro Nome" from Verdi's "Rigoletto" and contemporary settings of American and English folksongs will com plete the program. Miss Conroy, daughter of Mrs. C. T. McKinley of 1102 West Ninth street, is a gradu ate of St. Mary's school, Med ford. During her four years at Marylhurst she has ap peared frequently as soloist as well as with the Choralists and College Chorus. She was soloist at a concert in Salem April 21. She has participated in stu dent activities as shown by her present office of senior class secretary-treasurer, and membership in the drama club, resident student coun cil, and class representative to the Student Union com- j mittee. I Golden Age Club Seeks Equipment Games, playing cards, and card tables are needed by the newly organized Golden Age club. The recreation commit tee would appreciate receiv ing any usable material along this line that persons wish to donate. Needed are six card- tables, pinochle decks, canasta decks, plain playing cards, cribbage board, checkers, chess, other similar type games; score pads and pencils. Persons having items to do nate are asked to contact Dr. Frank Roberts, 892 East Main street, at SPring 2-9905. He will call for the items. The next meeting of the club will be Friday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at the Red Cross build ing. All persons over 50 years of age are invited to attend. A. Hayden, mis sionaries in Lima, Peru. Miss Beltz is a nursing stu dent at Walla Walla College school of nursing, Portland Sanitarium and Hospital, Portland. Mr. Hayden is scheduled to receive his bach elor of science degree in June from Walla Walla College. No date has been set for the wedding. Nancy Hamilton In Washington Miss Nancy Hamilton is in Washington, D.C., to spend several weeks with h?r broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hamilton. En route east by plane, Miss Hamilton visited friends in Chicago and at Northwestern university. She plans to return to her studies at Southern Oregon college for the summer quar ter. Mr. Hamilton has been working in the U.S. Sen ate post office under appoint m e n t by Senator Wayne Morse, and also attending law school. He and his wife plan to leave Washington in June for Sioux Falls, S.D., where Mrs. Hamilton's family reside. Joint Ceremony Neighbors of Woodcraft will hold a joint installation ceremony, Monday, April 28, at the Eagles hall in Medford. Participating in the ceremony will be groups from Medford, Ashland, Phoenix, and Grants Pass. Members attending are asked to take a pie. Alpha Rho Chapter To Hold Installation Installation of the new of ficers of Alpha Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will be held May 8 at the home of Mrs. Scott Davis, 1914 East Main street. At a meeting of the chap ter April 24, Benoyd S. Bay less, assistant professor of art, Southern Oregon college, gave a lecture on "Molding and Sculpturing." After the talk he formed the head of a man from clay and passed pictures demonstrating var ious forms by famous artists. Mrs. Richard Henslman plans to attend the state con vention to be held in Salem May 16-18. Mr. Henselman will accompany his wife. Queen to Visit Glendale Club Mrs. E. Phone SP 2-6253 S71 ' Mm Chorus To Give Spring Concert Ashland The romen's Choral Club of Southern Ore gon, directed by Miss Helene Robinson, will present their spring concert Sunday, May 11, at 3 p.m., in Churchill hall auditorium, Southern Oregon College. The program is free of charge, and the public is cordially invited to attend. Guest artists on the pro gram will be Harlalee Wil son, violinist from the Den ver Symphony Orchestra, James Baker, tenor, of Med ford. Featured on the program will be "The Blessed Damo zel," one of Debussy's early compositions characteristic of his unique style. The text is Rossetti's poem depicting the yearning of a girl in heaven for the arrival of her lover. Musical scores for "The Blessed Damozel" were loan ed by the Sugene Women's Choral Club, which perform ed it last year. i Soloists for this number are Lois Reed (Mrs. William G.) of Medford, and Lois Windsor (Mrs. Phil) of Ash land. The chorus will also appear in other selections.
