Cited Albert Alice Wall, 1064 Ellendale rd., was cited for violation of the basic rule after a vehicle he was operat ing collided with one operat ed by Olive June Snow, Cra nel, Calif., about 4 p.m. Sat urday on the Jacksonville highway near the Oak Grove school, state police said. Cited Albert Hendrickson, Camp White, was cited for failure to leave information at the scene of an accident after a vehicle he was oper ating was involved in a colli sion with a parked car owned by Lourine Anne Kent, 219 South Seventh st., Central Point, according to Medford police. Arrested State police re port arresting a Paul Andrew Medley, 30, of Hayward, Calif., about 6:30 p.m. Satur day on a 52,000 warrant from Siskiyou county for grand theft. Police added Medley is also wanted on a 1957 war rant from the Medford city police on obtaining money under false pretenses. He was arrested in a home located in northeast Medford, they re ported. Lebanon Issues Curfew Orders ' Lebanon (IPI Lebanon has issued strict new curfew or ders for juveniles in an effort to curb juvenile delinquency. Assistant Police Chief Karl Hyer said the new curfew time would be 10 p.m. seven days a week. Th's rescinds an old order which allowed 11 p.m. on school days and 12 midnight on Friday and Saturday. News About Servicemen DESTINATION EUROPE Fort Benning, Ga. Pvt. Billie D. Tucker, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Tucker, 131 Amy st., Central Point, is scheduled to leave Fort Ben ning, Ga., this month for Europe under "Operation Gyroscope," the Army's unit rotation plan. Tucker is a member of the Third Infantry division which is replacing the 10th Infantry division in Germany. He is assigned to Troop C of the division's 7th Cavalry. Tucker attended Crater high school before entering the Army in October, 1957. ATTENDS SCHOOL Norfolk, Va. James R. McDa.niel, metalsmith first class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Services will be held at the Perl funeral home Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jean M. Shelley of the Church of Christ at Cen tral Point, officiating. Burial will be in the Central Point cemetery. Mrs. Bursell was born in Missouri on Feb. 26, 1883 and had been a resident of Southern Oregon for the past 60 years. She is the wife of former County Commis sioner Victor A. Bursell who preceded her in death. Mrs. Bursell was a mem ber of the Christian Church, O. E. S. of Central Point; and of the Central Point Grange and Royal ' Neighbors of America. She is survived by three sisters Myrtle Gillespie Eugene, Ruby Powell, Eu gene, and Opal Beall, Rose burg; one brother, Roy E. Corum of Eugene; and many nieces and nephews. Obituaries JOSEPH LANGTRY Joseph A. Langtry, 71, Ash land, died April 14. He was born April 15, 1886, near Ful ton, Mo. Mr. Langtry owned and op erated a drug store in Rigby, Idaho, for several years be fore moving to Oregon where he was a planning mill fore man. He moved to Ashland in 1939 where he started an in surance business. He was a member of First Presbyterian church, Ashland; Masonic lodge, Order of East ern Star, and Elks lodge. He is survived by his widow, Josephiae Langtry, Ashland; one son, Virgil Lang try, Portland: one daughter, Mrs. Beth Hayes, Eureka, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Rose Mae Langtry, Riverside, Calif., and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held April 16, at 2 p.m. at Litwiller's Mountain View chapel, Ashland, wth the Rev. B. J. Holland, of the Presby terian church officiating. Payton, 54, employee of Timber Products company for a number of years, died at the family resi dence, 991. Biddle road on Sunday, April 13 1958. Mr. Payton was born at Tacoma, Wash, on Nov., 16, 1903. He came to Medford in 1926. In 1929 he was married to Mary Phipps Elder who survives, him. Memorial Park. Heart Attack Fatal To Columbia Sheriff St. Helens (IPI Sheriff Warren M. Forsyth of Colum bia county died Saturday aft ernoon of a heart attack while mowing the lawn at his St. Helens home. He- had ben sheriff of Co lumbia county since 1953. - Temporary Work Set For Nyssa District Temporary work, lasting at least one month, is available in the Nyssa area in sugar beet thinning starting about May 1, according to the Ore gon state employment service. About 950 workers will be needed. Most thinning work is done with a short handled hoe and requires working in bending position. Pay is by an acre basis. Low cost housing is available, the service said. More information is avail able by contacting the service at 119 North Oakdale ave. Cuba Rebels Plan To Continue Fight Despite Losses Havana 0PI Cuba's rebels were reported collect mg arms and regrouping forces today in hopes of put ting new life into their fading "total war" against President Fu'lgencio Batista's govern ment. Rebel sources said they will continue the fight despite the heavy losses they suffered last week. Private reports com piled over the week end in dicate that at least 350 rebels were killed in the uprising that began Wednesday while army and police losses amounted to a few dozen. Havana Quiet Havana was generally quiet Sunday night, and the only violence reported elsewhere in the country was the killing of one rebel who fired on a bus near Camaguey. Rebel spokesmen said the insurgents have received "new arms shipments" from un specified sources to beef up their attacks. , ' Authoritative sources said the rebels were badly or ganized and poorly trained, making them no match for seasoned loyal troops and po lice in any kind of a standup fight. Castro's forces consist largely of enthusiastic but in experienced youths. Crash Victim In Poor Shape A 24-year-old Medford man injured when his car left the road early Saturday morning is reported in poor condition this morning by Sacred Heart hospital authorities. Medford police said the car driven by John Edward Walker was apparently travel ing at a high speed on Crater Lake ave., neart . he Grand view Market, when the ve hicle left the road, rolled over at least once and traveled about 400 feet into a field t -s-f ore coming to a stop. He is suffering from head injuries and miscellaneous cuts, according to hospital of ficials. New Secretary Hired For City Hall Staff A new secretary, Mrs. Jinx Rives, has been added to the city hall staff, according to the city manager's office. Mrs. Rives and her family, husband Frank and sons Rick, 4, and Scott, 18 months, re cently moved to Ashland from Eugene. She will become the engineering and computers secretary. Torrential Rains In Parts of Texas By UNITED PRESS A collision of cold and warm air masses over the Southwest sent funnel clouds spinning over Northern Okla homa and touched off tor rential rains and hail storms in parts of Texas. The storm area Sunday night extended over most of the Southern Plains and into the Lower Mississippi Valley. Weathermen blamed the storm on a stream of warm, moist air from the gulf flow ing into the unusually cold air in the south central sec tion of the nation. , No Tornadoes Several funnel clouds were sighted in a line of thunder storms over Northern Okla homa late Sunday, but no tornadoes touched the ground. At San Rise Attributed To Technical Factors New York IP) Stocks pushed ahead again today in a continuation of the advance which restored more than $1 billion to market values last week. The rise was attributed to technical factors following the market's -recent weakness. (IP) Superior Judge Thomas Keat ing promptly denied a request by two condemned prisoners that their "best friend" be permitted to witness their ex ecution in the San Quentin gas chamber Tuesday. The "best friend" was Carl Chessman, who has been conducting a 10-y ear-battle from death row to escape the gas chamber. The prisoners, Eugene Bur- well and James Alonzo Rog ers, are scheduled to die for the murder of a guard. Footlighters Present TODAY Act Comedy Accicfenf Victim Said In Good Condition Jack Ray Goodman, 22, of 303 West Main st., Talent, is reported in good condition at Rogue Valley hospital this morning after he suffered un determined injuries in an ac cident at Third st. and Central ave., according to city police. Police said the accident took place about 2 a.m. today when Goodman's vehicle struck the neon sgn in front of the Apos tolic Faith church, 404 North Central ave., causing an un determined amount of dam age. Goodman was taken to the hospital by Medford Am bulance service following the accident. Police said they are investigating the wreck. Stocks Appointed District Manager Salem Robert E. Four men were killed when Lana Turner To Be Investigated In Custody Case Hollywood (IP) An attrac tive woman probation officer, herself the mother of two, to day began an investigation of the fitness of Lana Turner to keep custody of her daughter, Cheryl. Peter Kerr Estate Given To Church Portland , (IP) The 13 acre Peter Kerr estate at Elk Rock is being given to the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon, it was announced Sunday night at the opening session of the 70th annual meeting of the Diocese here. The property is located at Southwest Military lane and the residence overlooks the Willamette river. Rt. Rev, Benjamin D. Dagwell, bishop of Oregon, announced that it was the wish of Mrs. Kerr and her daughters. Mrs. James McDonald and Mrs. JohnW S. Piatt, that the property be come the residence of the bishop.
