Miss Barbara Bride of Coy St. Joseph's Catholic church In Jacksonville was the set ting Saturday, February 15 for the 10:30 o'clock morning wedding of Miss Barbara Ann Fort and Coy Dean McFar- land. The Rev. John Ilg offi ciated at the ceremony at tended by 50 relatives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fort, ; Route 1, Box 419A, Medford. ;Mr. McFarland is a son of :Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McFar--' land. Grants Pass. ' Pink carnations and white stock decorated the altar for the ceremony and Miss Regina jHannon played the organ wedding music. ; ' Escorted to the altar by her t father, the bride wore a white brocaded taffeta frock in I ballerina length. Her should .' er length veil fell from a lace and seed pearl cap and she carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and white stock. I Miss Madeline Schnack at I tended the bride. Mrs. Argus Lind- strom cut and served the wedding cake assisted by Mrs. Donald Lindstrom. Miss Margaret Schnack and Miss Josephine Whitman assisted with the serving. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Fort chose a tan wool frock with beige accesories. Her corsage was of gold car nations. Mrs. McFarland wore a green print cotton sheath dress with beige coat. Her flowers were lemon colored carnations. For her traveling attire the bride chose a lavender and black tweed sheath frock with pink blouse and matching hat. The bride attended St. Mary's High school, South ern Oregon college, and Rob ertson's School of Business. She is a drafting clerk with J the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company in Med ford. Mr. McFarland attend ed Grants Pass school and Southern Oregon college. He is a' line assigner with Pacific Telephone a n d Telegraph company. Mrs. Lloyd Caton, club president, greeted the guests and intro duced Mrs. John Esp, com mentator, for the show, spon sored by Mann's store. The show represented a complete line of the newest designs from sportswear to formal attire and included the much talked about Chemise both in an extreme model as well as a modified version. During the show, the group was entertained by Mrs. Charles Champlin and Fred Graten . who sang two num bers, "Maytime" and "Sym pathy." They were accom panied at the organ by Mrs. George Ketchum. Mrs. Champlin modeled a formal gown of nylon tulle, and or ganza in "wild rose" color with self-colored satin stripe. The gown was fashioned with an extended bodice and bil lowing skirt. Her jewelry was of matching coral and deep rose tones. Mrs. Graten wore a dress suit of the new "protocol blue," also from Mann's. Modeling were Mrs. - War ren G. Lesseg, Mrs. C. E. Chamberlain, Mrs. A. Z. Dean, Mrs. Stuart V. Mc Queen, Mrs. William Schei, Mrs. Edward Root, Mrs. A. K. Morse, Mrs. Donald Ash- pole, Mrs. R. M. Alexander, Mrs. John Garner and Miss Marilyn Graten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Graten. Children's apparel was mod eled by Lee Ann Chamberlain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Chamberlain, Janet and Lynn Ketchum, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. George Ketch um, and Dana Wobbe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wobbe. One of the high fashion chemise frocks was modeled by Mrs. Lesseg, and she was greeted with a wave of spon taneous comment from the guests. Commenting on the dress, Mrs. Esp stated that the low back fullness and belted front represent an "ex citing change" from recent conservative clothes for wo men. A navy blue chemise frock with pleated back falling from a yoke was modeled by Mrs. Chamberlain. Many of the newest dresses for spring and summer are made of pure silk material, and one of these was worn by Mrs. Morse. It was a jacket dress of pure silk shantung. One of the r dresses modeled by Mrs. Garner was a brown linen and silk chemise. Pretty Miss Graten model ed several ensembles for the young miss, and her last ap pearance was in a bouffant evening gown fashioned of tiers of ruffles. Mrs. Dean closed the showing by model ing an "elegant dress of ap ple green nylon lace." A deep valentine-pink domi nated the colors for the deco rations. The walls were deco rated with huge four-foot pink valentines each differ ent, and from the ceiling hung hundreds of small pink hearts. The stage fot- the style show was decorated with large bas kets of pink flowers to match the wall valentines, and potted tulips. The background was of white and gold man zanita boughs hung with doz ens of small pink hearts. Small hearts and individual valentines decorated each guest table. The valentines were later used for distribu tion of gifts. An arrangement of deep pink camelias deco rated the serving table. Mrs. Roy V. Nordwick was in charge of decorations, and was assisted by Mrs. Edwin Harper, Miss Pauline Champ- Rites To Be Hejd In Eastern City Shady Cove Mrs. Ruth G. Sanford, Shady Cove, an nounces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter. Beverly Anne, to Herbert E. Barth, son of Mrs. Charles F. Barth, Monticello, N. Y. Miss Sanford is a graduate of Eagle Point High school. Mr. Barth attended Monticello schools, Paul Smith college and the University of Michi gan. He is employed with the U. S. Forest Service in Sen eca, S. C. The wedding will be held in the Presbyterian church in Monticello March 15. The couple will return to Shady Cove following the ceremony. Newcomers Newcomers to Medford are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond W. Brabham and children, Karen, 7, and Gary, 4. The couple came here from Eugene, and are now living at 97 Black Oak drive. Mr. Brabham is with Rich field Oil company. lin, Mrs. Vincent Lobdell and Mrs. Lester Gilman. Mrs. Fred Purdin was gen eral chairman of the affair. Assisting her were Mrs. Frank Roberts, Mrs. Roy Hise, Mrs. C. B. 'Paddock, Mrs. Robert Waldrbn, and Miss Janet ' Witham for din ing room arrangements. Mrs. Melvin Krows, Mrs. Charles Gould, Mrs. William Myers, Mrs. Ralph Krows, Mrs. G. G. Stagg, Miss Carolyn Endris, Mrs. V. A. Thompson, Miss Florence Bean and Mrs. E. E. Setzler helped prepare the luncheon. Mrs. L. S. Ettinger was in charge of the coffee. Mrs. E. G. Randolph was in charge of the dessert and Mrs. George Osier the salads. Mrs. C. D. Wood, Mrs. Ira Canfield and Mrs. E. G. Ran dolph were cashiers, and Mrs. Frank Little was in charge of reservations. Valley Couples On Winter Trips A number of valley couples are making late winter vaca tion trips. Mr. and Mrs. Scott V. Davis 1914 East Main street, left Medford Thursday for a mo tor trip to southern Califor nia, and Phoenix, Ariz., where they will join Mrs. Davis' brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Randolph of Baise, Ida., who are already vacationing there. On the return trip home about the middle of March, the Davises will stop in the Bay area to visit Mr. Davis' daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Wurtz, Or inda, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. John S. Day, Gold Rey, have returned from Mexico, where they spent a winter vacation. En route south, the Days' spent some time in Los Angeles before continuing to Mazatlan. Bowen Sisters To Wed Brothers Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Bowen, 522 North Riverside avenue, last week announced the engagements of their two older daughters to two broth ers. Miss Bonnie Jean Bowen is engaged to wed Cecil Howard Coghill Jr., and her sister, Miss Sharon Judith Bowen, is engaged to William Lee Coghill. The two young men are sons of Mrs. Michael H. Fuhrer, Central Point, and the late Cecil Howard Cog hill. The two couples plan to be married in a double ceremony next July. i The Bowens came to Med ford a short time ago from Salt Lake City, where their daughters ?ttended school. Mr. Mayfield (at left) is pictured here with Mrs. Mayfield and Dr. Raymond Mangels, Portland, who represented the potentate of Al Kader temple at the ball. More than 400 guests attended the event, including a large group from Medford and Ashland. Episcopal Group To Hear Talk by Richard Graham Richard Graham will speak at a meeting of the Women's auxiliary of St. Mark's Epis copal church set for Friday, February 28, at the church parish house. Mr. Graham, a lay reader for Trinity Episco pal church, Ashland, and one of the Oregon Shakespearean festival's leading actors, will speaks on the first Anglican prayer book. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. with Mrs. E. O. Cooper and Mrs. Frank Glon ning as hostesses. Communion will be celebrated at 11:45 a.m., and the luncheon and program will follow. , 1 Medford Students Sing With Club Corvallis Misses Virginia L. Hunter and Marianne I. Moore of Medford are mem bers this year of the Oregon State College Madrigal club, composed of coeds selected in music department auditions. The group presents musical numbers at various special campus events and partici pates each year in campus Christmas and Easter con certs. Miss Hunter, is a sophomore majoring in business and tech nology. She is the daughtei of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Hunter of 50 Valley View drive. Miss Moore, a senior majoring in home economics, is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Orie S. Mrs. Anson In gels, Salem, department pres ident of the auxiliary, will be the initiation officer for the ceremony.
