To Install Installation of new officers for Medford Blue Star Moth ers will be held Thursday, February 20, at the home of Mrs. Frank Gleaves on Mc Andrews road. A potluck luncheon will be served at 12 o'clock, with the Blue Star Mothers of Grants Pass as guests. Potentate's Ball Given in Coquille For Medford Man Leonard L. Mayfield, re cently elected potentate of Hillah temple of the Shrine and his officers were honored at a formal dance held Satur day, February 15, in the Co quille Community building Coquille, Ore. About 500 Shriners and their wives were expected to attend, including a large group from Jackson county. Mrs. Mayfield and their children, Karen and Michael accompanied Mr. Mayfield and were introduced during the festivities. For the event Mrs. May- field wore a blue taffeta gown designed with long skirt and overskirt and side drapery lined with pale pink. Also attending from the valley were Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Leavitt, Mr. and Mrs, Chester Kubbard, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn L. Linn, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Frisbie, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walker, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Elder H. O. Martin offi ciated at the eight o'clock evening ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Arant, Table Rock road. Mr. Dillon is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dillon, Central Point. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white chiffon over white taffeta frock with fingertip length veil. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. The Rev. Dexter F. Williams, pastor of Central Church of Christ, officiated. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Young, Unionville, Ind., and has been making her home at 1223 Bens lane, Medford. For the wedding she wore, a brown plaid dress with corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Max D. Nicholson at tended her sister, and Mr. Nicholson was. best man for the bridegroom. Mrs. Nichol son wore a navy blue dress with corsage of white carna tions. Seventeen guests attended the informal home ceremony, and weddhfg refreshments followed the rites. The newlyweds will live at 815V2 Cedar street, Med ford. The bride attended school in Unionville, and the bridegroom was educated in Tolleson, Ariz. Music for the wedding was two vocal selections recorded by the aunt of the bride, Mrs. R. R. Woods of Yakima, Wash., for the occasion. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the church. Mrs. Clarence Gray cut and served the tiered wedding cake. Mrs. Amel Paul poured the coffee and Miss Jane Daniels presided at the punch bowl. Miss Ramo- na Baugh was in charge of the guest book. For her daughter's wed ding Mrs. Arant chose a blue silk print dress with white accessories. Mrs. Dillon wore a navy polka dot frock with red accessories. Their cor sages were of gardenias. The couple are making their home at 710 Dakota avenue, apartment B. Med ford. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and is employed as a clerk at California Oregon Power company. Mr. Dillon is a graduate of Crater High school and is an apprentice brick mason with the Carl Dillon Masonry company. Present for the wedding was Mrs. Minnie A. Morten son, grandmother of the bridegroom from California. To Hold Session Applegate Mrs. Louis Jones will be hostess for a meeting of Applegate valley Garden club at her home Wednesday, February 19, at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Edward Ramsay will speak on construction of cold frames and the starting of both flower and vegetable seeds for spring transplanting. Everyone interested is invited. Rites Held In Salem Wed Couple Salem Miss Patricia Anne Miller became the bride of Stanley Michael Purcell Jr., in a ceremony held Satur day, February 15, in St. Jo seph's Catholic church, Sa lem. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith C. Miller, Scio, Ore., and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Purcell, Med ford. Father Vincent Cuniff per formed the rites at two o'clock in the afternoon and Mr. Miller escorted his daughter to the altar. The bride wore a gown of lace over taffeta with bead ed lace bodice and tulle sleeves appliqued with lace side panels, sunburst pleated tulle front and a cascade of ruffles in the back forming a train. Her flowers were white orchids and white hya cinths in a shower. The bride designed and made her gown. Miss Rosemary Rhoten, Sa lem, was honor attendant for her cousin, and bridesmaids and matrons were Miss Marda Glee Miller, sister of the bride, Mrs. Jerry Ligon, Cor vallis and Mrs. Raymond Moore, Portland, sorority sis ters of the bride. Their bal lerina length frocks were fashioned with bodices of red lace over taffeta, short sleeves and full net skirts. They carried white carna tions. Bruce Michels, Salem, was best man for the bridegroom and ushers were Palmer Byrkit, Beaverton, Ore., Wil liam Davis, Idylwild Park, and Charles Ashpole, Eugene. Baskets of white blossoms decorated the church. The reception which fol lowed was in the Green room of the Hotel Marion. Red anthurium and white stock decorated the room and tables. Mr. and Mrs. Purcell are spending their honeymoon on the Oregon cpast. The bride's traveling attire was a blue sheath dress with black accessories. The bride, who attended Scio High school and Oregon State college, is on the staff of Thomason and Warner, Certified Public accountants of Albany, Ore. The bride groom, a graduate of Medford High school, is now a student at Oregon State college. Dinner Planned By Lively Rogues Lively Rogues will hold a dinner dance Thursday, Feb ruary 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Rogue Valley Country club Host couples for the evening will be Mr. and Mrs. H. Plans for the annual fam ily dinner were discussed and a tentative date set for March. Arrangements were made for the basic dressmaking class to be given once a week for four weeks, beginning February 26.
