Edwards, 1409 Kings high way, Medford, were involved in an acicdent at the inter section of Peach st. and Stew art ave., about 10:08 p.m. Fri day, according to Medford po lice. Dean was cited for hav ing no Oregon operator's lic ense, and Coral Edwards was cited for failure to yield the right of way, police said. Cited Ronald Jones, 235 Laurel st., Central Point, was cited for violation of the basic rule after a car he was driv ing was involved in a collision with a car operated by Alice Fessions, 527 Chestnut st., Ashland, according to Ashland police. They said the accident took place about 8:35 p.m. Fri da'y at Siskiyou blvd. and Un ion st. Under the program the treasurer is authorized to de posit $4,287.50 with the state board of higher education and enter into a formal contract for the work. The program is a matching-fund project in which the city and federal each furnish 50 per cent of the cost. The contract is due to ex pire July 13, 1959. Medford is one of 13 Oregon cities re cently granted funds to take part in the program. Ned Langford, city planning con sultant, will make' the study, according to city hall officials. Medford will use its funds for a land-use study, officials said. v Accrediting Groups To Visit SOC Campus Ashland Accrediting groups from the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools and the Na- tional Council for the Accre dition of Teacher Education will be at Southern Oregon college Monday and Tuesday for reaccreditation purposes. Chairman of the group will be the Rev. Clement H. Reg imbal, dean of faculties at Gonzaga university. Other members are Dr. John R. Rob erts, Dr. Fred Knapman, Dr. Eugene B. Chaffee, Dr. Gra ham M. Dressier, and Dr. T. S. Kerr, all from the North west association. BACK FROM SERVICE Lester S. Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester C. Walker, route 1, box 212, Talent, is ex pected home some time next week from the service, his parents reported. Lester has been serving 30 months in Germany in an military police -unit. He left Europe Jan. 31 .on the USS Butner. He will be discharged from the Army at Fort Lewis, Wash. He was graduated from Talent High school in 1954 and enlisted in the Army on Feb. 28, 1955. Jones, 73, of 7T2 Victory st., who died Thursday in Portland will be held at Conger-Morris at 9:30 a.m. Tues day, with Rev. Sherman Moore of Pilgrim Holiness of ficiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Mr. Jones was born in Marysville, Mo., June 22, 1884. The family came to the Rogue valley 26 years ago. On Oct. 9, 1906 he was married to Mabel M. Joy, who sur vives him. Mr. Jones had been a carpenter in the Medford area until his retirement some six years ago. Other survivors include two sons: Lawrence G. Jones, and Leland E. Jones, both of Med ford; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel McNeil, Pearl Stevens and Dorothy Blair, all of Med ford; one brother, Frank E. Jones, San Gabriel, Calif.; al son one sister, Mrs. Eugene Matherly of Osawatomie, Kan. 11 grand children and three great grandchildren. DAVID R. JENNINGS Funeral services for David R. Jennings, U. S. Coast Guard, AT3, formerly of Med ford, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Conger-Morris chapel with Rev. Kelly Mer ritt, Kearney, Neb. and Rev. M. A. Simmons officiating. Committal will be in Jackson ville cemetery. David was born in Kearney, Neb. on August 6, 1936. He attended schools in Medford, and graduated from Medford High school in' 1954. He was an aviation electronics man in the United States Coast Guard at the time of his death. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jen nings of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Lei Lani Adelle at home; two grandmothers' Mrs. Frances Jennings of Medford, and Mrs. Lulu Rice of Kear ney, Neb.; one grandfather, Andrew H. Larson of Med ford; several aunts and uncles and 'cousins and host of friends. MRS. ISABELLA MARTIN Mrs. Isabella Martin, 93, died in a local nursing home Saturday afternoon. Joe Rogers, Independence, in dicated Saturday he will file for the Republican nomina tion for the post sometime this month. Rogers served two terms as a Democratic "member of the house and then switched to the Republican side late in the summer of 1957. State law required that a candidate wait 180 days after changing party designation be fore he can file. Services Planned For Dr. 'Carew' Hollywood flP) Private funeral services will be held Tuesday for veteran actor Walter Kingsford, 73, who died of heart attack Friday. He was stricken in his North Hollywood home. Kingsford played support ing roles in films, television and on stage for the past 40 years. He created the role of Dr. Carew in the MGM "Dr. Kildare" series, and he was scheduled to appear later this month in a Playhouse 90 TV drama.
