Nurse Recruiter Here Thursday Capt. Virginia Brown, Sixth Army Nurse Procurement of ficer, will be in Medford at the U.S. Army Recruiting of fice Thursday, January 16, during the afternoon. ' Medford Sojourners Club Holds Installation Service Mrs. James Winslow was installed president of Medford Sojourners club at a meeting Thursday at Girls Community club. Other new officers installed by Mrs. Gene Chamberlain were Mrs. Eugene Ingram, first vice - president: Mrs. Dwight. Crosier, second vice president; Mrs. Preston Hobbs, secretary; Mrs.f Jean Nelson, treasurer. Appointed officers installed were Mrs. Marvin Nelson, re membrance chairman; Mrs. Carl Borg, hospitality chair man; Mrs. R. T. Jones, pub licity chairman. Corsages of white and pink carnations were presented by Mrs. Chamberlain to the new president and to the retiring president, Mrs. Floyd Robert son. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. E. E. Larson, Mrs. C. G. Taylor and Mrs. C. E. Byrd. The luncheon table was centered with a large candle surrounded by silver and green pine cones and ever greens. Prospective m e m b e r s at tending for the first time were Mrs. J. H. Foster and Mrs. L. Finlev. Mrs. Rosa Auten and Mrs. J. Gastineau were introduced as new members. Mrs. T. J. Williams brought as her guest her mother-in-law, Mrs. E. P. Williams, Ash land, Ky. After the business meeting cards were played with prizes going to Mrs. Elmer Ness and Mrs. W. K. Johnson for bridge Pinochle prizes went to Mrs F. W. Robertson and Mrs. Ted Neilson. Canasta awards were won by Airs. Frank Stratton and Mrs. Clarence Staley Special award was won by Mrs. Frank Stratt Mrs. J. E. Mullins. The next meeting will be held January 23 at Commu nity clubhouse. " i Home Building Sorority Topic; Chapter Honored Mrs. DeVon Wray present ed a program on home buil ding and planning at a meet ing of Beta Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held Jan uary 7 at the home of Mrs. Joe Sayre. Mrs. Rae Bostwick report ed on the annual Christmas basket given by the chapter and plans for a bowling party were discussed. Mrs. Wayne Harris was elected the chapter's Valen tine girl. Following the meet ing members held an earring exchange and dessert was served by the co-hostess Mrs. Neal Curry. The chapter was honored at a Christmas dinner last month at the home of Mrs. M. N. Hogan, the sponsor, with the director, Mrs. Scott Dav is, as co-hostess. Oitts were exchanged following the din ner and cards were played during the evening. Guests in cluded Mrs. John D. Selby, Ashland, and Mrs. Gerald von Ting. President Appoints New Committees For Upper Rogue HEC Mrs. Charles Moorehead, president of the Upper Rogue Grange Home Economics club, appointed her commit tees for the year at the Jan uary 9 meeting . Executive woman are Mrs. Ranald Axtell, Mrs. Carl Richardson, and Mrs. Bruce Grieve; Mrs. Harry Harding, historian; Mrs. Hazel Ulrich, relief; Mrs. Herbert Carlton, kitchen; Mrs. Roy Vaughn and Mrs. Roy Gillespie, hos pitality; and Mrs. George Tockstein, publicity. Plans were made to hold a rummage sale later in the spring. The next meeting of the group will be February 13 at the Carlton home with Mrs. Gillespie as co-hostess. A Driscoll Receives U Degree at College William E. Discoll Jr., East Main st., Medford, recently completed a course at the San Francisco college of mortu ary science. A graduate of St. Mary's High school in 1950, Driscoll attended St. Mary's college in Oakland, Calif., and served in the Army between 1951 and 1953. After returning to Med ford, he attended Southern Oregon college. Since 1953, Driscoll has been employed at Conger- Morris Funeral home.
