Eight servings. Melt two tablespoons butter in heavy pan; add 2 tablespoons flour and mix until smooth. Add two cups whipping cream and mushroom liquid drained from eight ounce can of sliced mush rooms; cook stirring constantly until just thickened. Remove from heat. Add a little of the hot mixture to two slightly beaten egg yolks, stirring vigorously. Pour back into remaining hot cream mix ture, stirring constanly. Add pep per, paprika and nutmeg to taste. Add one cup diced leftover cook ed ham or turkey and sliced mushrooms from eight ounce can. Add four tablespoons sherry and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally. Do not boil. Stir well. Serve immediately over toast points. Fast Frozen Dessert A frozen dessert that can be made in a jiffy. Serve on party plate with sprig of holly or ever green alongside or pile into sher bet glasses with greens along . Combine one can (303) fruit cocktail including syrup, with one-quarter pound marshmal lows cut in eighths. Let stand in refrigerator about one hour. Drain; add one teaspoon lemon juice, one tablespoon grated lem on peel. Whip one cup whipping cream until stiff; combine with fruit mixture. Refrigerate until served. Six servings. Seafood Cocktails Any one or a variety of fish or shellfish such as crab meat, lobster meat, shrimp or cooked or canned fish makes attractive, zestful seafood cocktails. For six servings: Break one pound cooked fish or shellfish into large pieces. Combine three-quarter cup chili sauce, one-quarter cup chopped celery, one tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon horeradish, one-half teaspoon salt. Chill. Ar range lettuce in six sherbet or cocktail glasses. Place seafood on top; cover with cocktail sauce. Garnish with parsley and lemon wedges. Crackers alongside. Cook one - half cup celery, diced, one-half cup green pepper, diced, in four tablespoons butter until tender. Blend in four tablespoons flour, add two cups milk; cook until thick, stirring constantly. Add oysters, salt and pepper to taste, two tablespoons chopped pimien to, and heat thoroughly. Pour in casserole and top with pastry. Bake in hot oven, 425 degrees, about 15 minutes or until crust is brown. Six servings. Mulled Cider Hot mulled cider is a favorite with many at this season. For each five servings, combine one quart sweet cider, one-third cup firmly packed brown sugar, eight whole cloves, six small sticks cinnamon, six whole all spice, pinch of salt and gently simmer 10 to 15 minutes. Strain if desired. Serve steaming hot in earthen mugs. Or hold out cinna mon sticks and use as stirrers. Neuberger To Sponsor Columbia River Bill Washington (IF) Sen. Rich ard L. Neuberger said today he would sponsor a bill t" set up a new regional corporation for Columbia river power and multi purpose development. The Oregon Democrat said he still had "certain doubts" about the operations of such a corpora tion, especially as to power costs per kilowatt. But he commented that many sincere people in his home state felt the idea deserves an airing. "Furthermore," he said, "we must face the fact that the pres ent Republican administration has chopped to pieces the orig inal program for comprehensive use of the Columbia and its tributaries." Neuberger said proponents of the plan want to establish a reg ional corporation backed by the federal government to take over the facilities of the Bonneville power system and finance other generating and transmission fa cilities through the issuance of bonds.
