Young people return from school, sons and daughters bring their children to see grandparents and many "travel long distances to be in the family home. The children and grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. J. Vern Shan gle will gather at the Shangle home on Kings highway for a family Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Mueller and small daugh ter, Kathxyn. will arrive this week end from Lompoc, Calif., where Mr. Mueller is stationed with the United States Army. Since Mr. Mueller is to be released from Army duty in February, Mrs. Mueller and Kathryn will remain here after the holidays. After his release, Mr. Mueller will return to Port Townsend, Wash., where he was a teacher in the public schools when inducted into the Army. Mr. and Mrs. Vern G. Shangle and children, Nancy and Becky, will come from Salem, Ore., Christmas eve and completing the family cfrcle will be Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shangle and two chil dren, Donald and Susan, who live in Medford. The headdress worn by Mrs. John Raapke (at right above) won first place and the one worn by Mrs. T. W. McFad(Jen was given honorable mention. Mr. Raapke contrived a satellite which "beeped" and the one Mr. McFadden made for his wife had a lighted satellite. David Fortmiller (below) here admires the elaborate silver and red headdress which won honorable mention for his wife. Mrs. Ray Casterline (at left in top picture across page) wore a headdress made by Mrs. John Clarke. Central Point, which featured a family scene and a "heavenly nest" of pink angel hair holding five tiny dolls and presided over by a stork. She is pictured at the ticket table with Mrs. Floyd Baker wearing a sun burst headdress of red and silver foil. Just for the photographer. H. Hawk have returned from an extended trip through Eastern Oregon and Idaho. Mrs. Hawk is the former Mrs. Betty Crum. Their recent mar riage was solemnized November 24. in First Presbyterian church here. The Rev. John Reynolds officiated. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. D. E. DeArmond. After the ceremony a recep tion, attended by close friends and relatives, was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Hawk, brother and sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Mr. Hawk, a long time resi dent of Medford and Oregon, re cently retired from the plumb ing and heating contracting bus' iness in Ontario, Ore. For the present the Hawks are making their home at 1004 East Jackson street in this city. Electa Social Club Plans Yuletide Party Electa Social club will hold a holiday party Friday, Decem ber 27, at 1 p.m., at the Girls Community club. Officers will be elected prior to the dessert luncheon. Each member is asked to take a wrapped gift for the Christmas tree. In charge of the event are Mrs. Ed Lovell, Mrs. L. D. Hodgekins. Mrs. E. Bean, and Miss Ann Detwiler. Dr. bid Mrs. Alvin R. Hedges, 2010 East Main street, are going to Pomona, Calif., to spend Christmas with Dr. Hedges' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Whitaker. Mrs. Whitaker is the former Ruth Hedges, and her husband is an attorney. Dr. and Mrs. Hedges were recently married, and Mrs. Hedges is the former Dr. Helena M. Winters of Kelso, Wash. The wedding took place last June. Cmdr D. C. Stanley and Mrs. Stanley with their sons, Don Scott and Jackie, have arrived from Jacksonville, Fla., to spend the holidays with the officer's parents, Lt. Cmdr. and Mrs. H. A. Stanley, 35 Crater Lake avenue. Commander Stanley is on duty at the U.S. Naval Air station at Jacksonville and the trip west was by air. They will remain until after New Year's day. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Parker, 4005 South Pacific highway, left Thursday for southern California to spend several weeks. For Christmas they will be with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pickering, Fallbrook. Miss Janet Perry, sophomore at Willamette university, and her brother, Jim, senior at the University of Oregon, are arriving this weekend from school to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allan F. Perry, 105 Geneva street. Coming from O'Brien, Ore., will be M$. and Mrs. E. G. Ballard, who will spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Stagg, 611 Berrydale avenue. Mr. Ballard is a brother of Mrs. Stagg. Guests of Dr. and Mrs. W. W. Howard, 1507 West Main street, will be Mrs. Howard's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. V. N. Field, Eugene. Arriving in Medford Christmas eve by plane will be Mrs. Dennis Edge, formerly of this city, to spend the holidays with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gerety, 1010 Stewart avenue, and their two daughters. Mrs. Edge's second daughter, Mrs. Richard Friese, and her husband, First Lieutenant Friese of the United States Air Force, are now living on the island of Guam where the officer is on duty. "Mrs. Friese is the former Sally Edge. Also here for the holidays will be Miss Donna Lue Pfnister, who will come from Oxnard, Calif., to be with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pfnister, 2797 Merriman road. She will be accompanied by her fiance, James Reddington, who is with the United States Navy at Port Mugu, California. Another guest of the family will be Charles O'Niel, Santa Rosa, Calif. Larry Slessler, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Slessler, 846 West 13th street, Medford, arrived here Friday to spend the holidays with his parents. Larry is a freshman at the College of Idaho, Caldwell, Idaho, and will spend two weeks in the valley. Arriving here last night were Mr. and Mrs. Nick DePlace of Minot, N. D., and they will spend Christmas and New Year's with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eric DePlace and family, 1392 Poplar drive. They made the trip to Oregon by train. Bride-Elect Guest At Shower Party Gold Hill Miss Maria Jean Abbott was honored last Mon day evening, December 16 at a surprise bridal shower given in the home of Mrs. Larry South, Central Point. Hostesses were Mrs. Gordan Mekvold and Mrs. Gordan Tidwell. Pink and white decorations in the bridal motif were used for the occasion. Gifts were placed beneath a frosty pink Christmas tree, which was arranged in front of a large picture window in the South home. Mrs. Mekvold wrote the gift list for Miss Abbott as she opened her gifts. Pink roses and silver leaves decorated a white cake, which was served with pink punch by the hostesses. Miss Abbott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Abbott, Central Point, is to be married to Rob ert G. Lance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lance, Gold Hill, January 3 in the First Presby terian church, Central Point. Hussongs Attend College Concert Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hussong, 56 Barneburg road, and daugh ter, Donna, were in Portland last weekend where they attend ed the annual Christmas concert at Lewis and Clark college. An other daughter, Carol, was a member of the a cappella choir in the production, was one of the inter-choir singers and also play ed in the symphony band. Attending the concert with the Medford family were Mr, and Mrs. Marston Hussong, As toria, sister-in-law and brother of Frank Hussong, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brewer, Medford. The wedding will be held Wednesday, January 1, at five o'clock in the afternoon at First Methodist church, Meeker Me morial chapel. Both Miss Adams and Mr. Beardsley are seniors at the University of Oregon. Miss Ad ams is majoring in elementary education and Mr. Beardsley is studying accounting.
