Filing the suits were admin istators of the estates of Clara H. Williams and Nellie M. Furl er. Defendants are Central Pav G'ing Company, Howard A. Jones and Lester G. Rose, doing bus iness as the J. R. Trucking com pany, and Rose individually. OThe two women were killed when their car collided with a truck driven by Rose. The building housed Savon's Clothing & Shoe Store, the M & M Jewelers, the Hoyt Flower Shop and a dentist's office on the second floor. Ahnut 12 elderly persons liv ing in the Rainier Grand Hotel next to Savon's were evacuated without incident although the hotel suffered some smoke dam age. I can t stay home all day with Mother. Felix D. I didn't object when my mother-in-law came to stay. She's a fine old lady and I've always enjoyed her company but then I never had an awful lot of it. Now it's different, however. Our bids are in high school, so my wife decided she may as well go out and take a job since her mother could be around the house all day. The trouble is that I work nights, so I am left around the house with my mother-in-law half the day. My wife goes out to work be fore I get up. She comes home just as I am about to leave. She is asleep when I get home. We meet on week ends but then my mother-in-law is around and we don't have any time to our selves. Shouldn't my wife quit her job? Celia D. Felix can't seem to get it through his head that it's just plain impossible for me to stay at home with my mother all day. Yes, she's "a fine old lady," but she irritates me by trying to tell me what to do and taking over the management of my home. I decided the only thing to do was to let her take over entirely. Besides, I wanted a change from housework. I enjoy working. It's given me a new lease on life. Felix is really being very in considerate. He doesn't seem to realize how unpleasant it has been for me to spend evenings alone all these years and he has never really tried to get daytime work. This is my first chance to get out of the home and I love it. The Council: Celia appears to be too easily pushed around. She expresses resentment at her husband's having left her alone evenings for many years while he worked on the night shift. If this was a situation for which there was no remedy, Ce lia is wrong to use it now as an argument in her defense. But if it could have been remedied, she should have taken a more forceful stand. She should not have accepted it grudgingly. Her present desire to find some more active life outside the home is understandable, but she should not have allowed her mother to completely take over her home. This arrangement is probably as unsatisfactory to her children as it is to her husband. Underneath Celia probably has a grudging resentment of her mother for having pushed her out of the picture. If she is determined to work, she should enlist Felix' co operation and try to get him to make that change in his working hours. If this can't be done, she may be able to find part-time or evening work for herself.
