The boys are drumming up trade as they always do at this time of year. This year the prices are cheap- Purge Planned To Head Off Labor Laws Atlantic City, N.J. (IP) AFL CIO officials Saturday counted on the purging of the Teamsters union from their ranks to head off enactment of labor-crippling laws. Impeachment Sought During Beck Trial , Seattle, Wash.' OP) The prosecution Saturday sought to impeach one of its own witness es, a certified public accountant, on grounds he gave "contradic tory and inconsistent" testimony in the grand larceny trial of Teamsters President Dave Beck. Deputy Prosecutor Laurence Regal tried to show that Carl Houston, certified public accoun tant who helped prepare Beck's 1956 income tax return, gave in consistent testimony concerning a "mistake" the accountant said he said. Houston testified he wrongly listed on his worksheets SI, 900 as proceeds from the sale of real estate and later "corrected the mistake" . to show the money came from "sale of Cadillac." Dr. Vern O. Knudsen, UCLA vice chancellor and dean of the graduate department, said in ad dition to the increase in mathe matics majors more students in other fields were taking an in creased load of mathematics.
