o o SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE UN Chapter Here To Hold Election Election of officers will be held at the next meeting of Med ford chapter, United Nations, Thursday. December 12, at 7:30 in the Fireside room of St. Mark's Episcopal church. Mrs. Harlan P. Bosworth Jr., will give a slwrt talk on the UNESCO convention she attend ed during November. As this is one of the few busi ness meetings of the year, George Rode; president of the chapter, urged all members to attend and express their views on the business of the chapter. Guild to Elect Prospect Women's guild of Church of the Good Shepherd, Prospect, will meet Tuesday, De cember 10, at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Officers will be elected at the meeting. The guild will meet at an earlier time this month due to the Bloodmobile being in Shady Cove that day. IP Pa 1 Many Valley Organizations To Hold Christmas Parties With Christmas less than three weeks away, many valley clubs and 6rganizations are holding Christmas meetings and parties, with gift exchanges. Instead of ! exchanging gifts, others are send ing them to state hospitals or contributing to baskets for needy families. Oregon Nurses' association, District 4, will meet Tuesday, December 10, for their Christmas meeting at 8 p.m. at the Rogue Valley hospital penthouse. Members are asked to take donations for the Christmas fam ily basket. Those needing trans portation should call SPring 3-2215. - All registered nurses are in- j vited to attend. Mrs. M. N. Hogan and Mrs. Ccott Davis will host a Christ mas dinner and card party Tues day, December 17, at the home of Mrs. Hogan for Beta Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi soror ity. At a meeting December 3, plans were made to prepare a Christmas basket for a needy family. Mrs. Neal Curry gave the program for the evening on finger painting pictures. Mrs. Walter Smith and Mrs. Ray Bostwick were hostesses for the social hour. Mrs. Wallace Haskins will pre sent a Christmas program at the Saturday, December 14 meeting of College Women's club at the Girls Community club. Mrs. S. H.. Gay will be social chairman. Past Matrons' Cub Plans Christmas Party At Valley Country Club The December meeting of Adarel Past Matrons' Club has been postponed to Wednesday, December 11. It will be a com bined business meeting, featur ing election of officers for the coming year, and a Christmas party to be held at the Rogue Valley Country club, starting with a twelve o'clock luncheon. Curry, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Curry, 906 West Main street, Medford. The ceremonv took place No vember 1 at Holy Cross Luther an church, Portland, and the newlyweds are living in that citv. The service was held at eight o'clock in the evening, with the Rev. Edward May officiating. Seventy-five guests attended. The bride wore a gown of net over satin with bodice of Chan- tilly lace and appliques of lace on the skirt. A crown of seed nearls held her veil and she car ried stephanotis and pale pink roses. Attending the bride were Mrs. Barbara Young, Portland, her step-sister, Miss Karen Christen sen, Sumas, Wash., a cousin, Miss Donna Hunter, Amboy, Wash., another step-sister, Miss Carol Jones, Vancouver, Wash., and Miss Iris Del Von Systad, Portland. They wore frock of pale pink net over darker pink taffeta with matching cummer bunds small headdresses and satin slippers. They carried pink roses and stephanotis. lone Marie Crandell, Portland, a cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a long frock of pale pink taffeta. - - Mr. Hunter gave his step daughter in marriage and Phillip I.andstrum. Portland, was best man for Mr. Curry. "Ushers were Richard Masters, Robert White and Donald Telen, all Portland. Pink and white chrysanthe mums decorated the church. Mr. Currv. an airman in the TTnitprI States Air Force, and his bride traveled to Hawaii for their wedding trip, the bride wearins a light green suit with white gardenia corsage for going away. The bride's mother wore a pink lace gown with pink accessories ana a white orchid corsage. Emerick, former ly of Medford and now of 13eav erton, Ore. 4 Nevita Chapter Announces Party At Hall Tuesday Central Point The annual Christmas party of Nevita chap ter, Order of Eastern Star, has been set for Tuesday, December 10. following the chapter s stat ed meeting ' in the Masonic temple. ChaDter room decorations will be arranged by the star points, and refreshments will be served under the chairmanship of Mrs. Victor Noel, assisted by Mr. Noel, Mrs. Edwin Andren, Mrs. Ray Anders and Mrs. Harley Dressier. Members will exchange gifts, and are asked to take canned food for the Masonic-Eastern Star home. Keep a first-aid kit in .the kitchen, advises the National Safety Council. Use it to treat minor burns and cuts immediate ly. It should include antiseptic for cuts. Held In Yreka Catholic Church Hornbrook St. Joseph's Cath olic church in Yreka, Calif., was the setting Saturday, November 30 for the 2 o'clock wedding of Miss Arlene Kay Burns, a daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ardon Burns of Hornbrook, and Charles Mat thew Dilley. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Dilley, now of Reno, Nev., but formerly of Hornbrook. Father Daniel Cullinan of St. Joseph's church officiated at the double ring ceremony attended by 120 friends and relatives. Ricky Sokoloski served as aco lyte. Miss Judy Moore played the wedding prelude music. Tall basekts of white chrysanthe mums stood at each end of the altar. Ardon Burns gave his daugh ter in marriage. Her gown was of imported chantilly lace with a full skirt of net over satin and panel of appliqued lace encircled the skirt just below the hip line. The fitted bodice of lace had a Queen Anne collar ' and long sleeves. Her fingertip length veil fell from a small chapeau of lace embroidered with irides cent shells and pearls, and she carried a white orchid encircled by white carnations and pink sweet-heart rosebuds. Her gown was her "something borrowed", having been worn first by her cousin, Mrs. Leland Stickney of Medford, and again by her sister, Joann, now Mrs. William Paulsen of Oakland, Calif, at her wedding last April. Maid of honor was Miss Myrna Cummins, and bridesmaids were Miss Barbara Burns, sister of the bride, and Miss Sharon Walsh. Miss Cummins was in blue, Miss Burns in pink and Miss Walsh in green. Their waltz-length gowns of brocaded taffeta shot with a fine gold thread were made with fitted bodices and full skirts, and cummerbunds Mrs. G. V. Allingham To Be Hostess For Meeting of Daughters Daughters of the British Em pire will meet Friday. December 13. at the home of Mrs. G. W. Allingham, 704 West Tenth street. Those attending are asked to bring a 50-cent gift to exchange; also an article of food for a Christmas basket. An invitation is extended to all who. have been British sub jects, or are' of Canadian birth. Following a business meeting, moving pictures will be shown of a trip taken by A. T. Lathrop. Her dress was of melon pink organdy, trimmed with nar row white lace. She wore a tiny white flowered hat. Best man was Dale Conrad, and seating the guests were Steve Wagner and William Kleaver. All are from Yreka, former schoolmates of the bridegroom. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Burns wore bottle green brocaded taffeta gown with black accessories. Mrs. Dilley chose a turquoise nylon sheath with a satin cummerbund in a lighter tone of the same color, and black accessories. They wore identical corsages of white carnations and pink rosebuds. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the parish hall. Mrs. Gene Adams of Lakewood, sister of the bride, cut and served the wedding cake, assisted by Miss Donna De Sosa of Grenoda, Calif. Receiving the gifts were Miss Betty Dilley, younger sis ter of the bridegroom, and Miss Sherrie Adams, niece of the bride, and opening the gifts were Mrs. Charles Caster and Miss Rochelle Grazier of Yreka. Miss Evelyn Burdt of Glendora, Calif, presided at the guest book. Other out-of-town guests, be sides the bridegroom's parents, included his sister and her hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wicks, Reno, Nev.; his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Pete Mullin, of Crescent City, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns, Oroville, Calif., brother and sister-in-law of the bride; Gene. Adams, Lake- wood, her brother-in-law; Mrs. Leland Stickeny, Medford; Mrs. Robert Jorgenson, Willows, Calif.; Miss Marilyn Cummins, Ron Gallino and William Hol land,' all students at Chico State college, Chico, Calif. Also among the out-of-town guests were Mrs. William Noth elefer. Miss Florence Cameron and Mrs. Archie Cameron, all Salem. Miss Marilyn Cummins caught the bride's bouquet. The couple are making their home at 900 Hokum street, Reno, after a short wedding trip. For traveling the bride wore a blue suit with black accessories and the orchid from her bridal bou quet. The bride attended Hornbrook grammar school and is a grad uate of Yreka High school. She has been employed near Los Angeles for the past several months. The bridgeroom is a graduate of Yreka High school and attended Arizona State col lege at Tempe last year. He is enrolled this year at the Uni versity of Nevada, Reno, where he plans to continue his studies. Preceding the party will be a short stated meeting at Med ford Masonic temple at 8 p.m., followed by a Christmas pageant, presented under the direction of Mrs. Harry F. Nordwick, pro gram chairman. The Christmas party will be held in the dining room, and the worthy matron and patron, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Boughner, have extended a special invitation to the husbands of all Reames chap ter members to attend this party, whether or not members of the order.
